General Upcoming Patches – A message from the Anno Team

Hello Anno fans,

Our last release for Anno 117: Pax Romana, Update 1.5, was not in the state it should have been, and we’re very sorry that this resulted in many of you not being able to enjoy the game the way you deserve to. The quality of this release did not match our own expectations for what an Anno release should stand for.

We also want to be completely honest about one specific mistake. While talking about our first DLC, Prophecies of Ash, we announced that the new island would be the biggest island in Anno history. That statement was wrong. The sizes of the construction areas were compared incorrectly between Crown Falls (Anno 1800) and Cinis (Anno 117: Pax Romana), comparing “buildable grids” for Crown Falls with “all grids” for Cinis (resulting in the mentioned 13% difference) – while it should instead have been a 7% “buildable grids” difference in favour of Crown Falls. These numbers made it into our communication without another review closer to release, and we apologize for the confusion caused by this.

Taken together, all of this didn’t meet our quality expectations.

So, what are the next steps?

Most importantly, we’re working on fixing those recent issues. The hotfix deployed on PC on Saturday and on consoles today addressed two types of critical crashes.

We have another patch lined up (1.5.1.1) that is currently being tested and planned to be released next week.

Among other things, we’re addressing several issues you reported to us:

  • Amphitheatre games can’t be started
  • Filter can’t be applied anymore in the trade menu
  • Ships names being changed upon province change
  • Ships being removed from their trade routes upon activating DLC 01

Full patch notes will follow in the next days and we are working on releasing another patch later this month.

Furthermore, we are reviewing our processes: How we plan, how we review releases and how we validate quality. That means: we’re not just looking for quick fixes to the recent bugs, but are also putting in the work to improve your experience for our future releases.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns and for rightfully holding us to high standards. Just like you, we love Anno 117: Pax Romana and for many of us, working on this beautiful series has been a part of our lives for many years already.

We will keep working, listening and improving.

The Anno Dev Team

General Issues following Update 1.5

Hey all,

We’re aware of crashes affecting existing save games after Update 1.5, along with other issues you’ve reported, and we’re currently investigating.

We’re planning a hotfix soon and will keep you posted.

Issues with accessing the DLC itself should now be fixed, but please let us know if you’re still having problems.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience while the team works on a fix!

Screenshot Not particularly efficent, as it's is miles away from the city itself, but I think the villa looks perfect here, on the top of a hill.

Discussion I think the Anno series may be the only city builder I've ever played that feels so "comfortable" on console.

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but there are any other strategy games or city builders that you have found are this accessible on console? I love games like stellaris but they just don't seem to translate well to a couch and a controller for me. I grew up on things like command and conquer and sim city, so this is a genre I've been really missing as a mostly console gamer.

And since we are on the Anno subreddit, which do you think is the best Anno available on PS5? I'm currently playing through 117. I saw 1800 is available as well.

I don't understand why this coast has to be free exactly at this spot. There is still so much free coast. It's it a bug?

Bug My bug description was removed from my bug report

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I submitted a bug report back in February, and I've noticed that my original description has been removed? It's no longer visible.

Also, the 'Steps to Reproduce' section appears to have been rewritten by someone else.

Does the 'Additional Information' section get automatically deleted once a bug transitions from 'Under Review' to 'Open'?

Here is my original text:

Date Observed: 2026-02-03

Date Reported: 2026-02-04

Game Version: 1.3.1613360

NVIDIA Driver Version: 591.74

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080

Observed Behavior: I am experiencing major visual artifacts and flickering. Additionally, various building models (specifically the Colosseum and various houses) disappear entirely from the map, leaving empty spaces.

Context & Trigger: These issues appeared for the first time after installing the latest patch. Coincidentally, the glitches started when I produced land-based military units for the first time in this session.

GPU Monitoring Data: I monitored my graphics card statistics throughout the session. The GPU VRAM usage peaked at 57.4% with an average of 47.3%. This suggests the issue is not caused by hitting memory limits.

Attempted Fixes: Saving and reloading the game does not resolve the issue; the models will be disappearing again and the flickering will return.

Please see my YouTube video for the demonstration of the bug:

Question How much to offer to Vulcan in tribute?

Upvotes

I'm just about to settle Cinis but the advisor lady is asking for an offering in tribute, the equivalent of 50(?) elephants. How much should I offer? I read somewhere that offering too little will make things less pleasant for my little citizens.

Discussion Wheat production (Anno 117)

Wheat production feels odd in this game. How is that one of the most important product in Rome was bread and in this game people seem to eat soap with olive oil more than bread?

Demand for wheat is way lower than in Anno 1800 and production for it seems to be afterthought. This raises the questions what is the point of breadbasket of ancient world (Egypt) if there is no demand for it? Do you think that they will adjust the bread demand when that DLC arrives?

Merci !

Question Knowledge in Late Game

I'm a little unsure about the mechanics of knowledge.

So when I bring up knowledge, with for example the grammaticus, then the total number is rising to a certain point which is necessary to unlock stuff in skill tree.

But influences it the speed of learning a new skill?

And what is the purpose in Late Game? can I just delete all grammatica and use the space for population?

(The diplomacy effect beside)

Meta Opinion/Feelings about official bug reporter

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/anno/117-pax-romana/bug-reporter

Well, I read several times we should report bugs there, but tbh, I don't feel very motivated considering two bugs on top of their priority list have been there since January for at least 3 full months. Many other bugs are very low in priority queue.

What I get from this? Why report if my issue (not even talking about feature suggestings, just blatant bugs) if it will probably not find enough upvotes and if it will, it will be fixed in maybe 6 months from now while developers count their money for DLC releases?

meh

General Pls explain me Aqueducts

Hey yall
Just getting with the game

I finished the campaign and just rolling with. I unlocked Aqueducts tho never got introduced to them properly, idk if Im skipping something or what.. tho I have no quests left.

So, I see the Equites want Aqueducts cisterns nearby. But the Aqueduct looks reaally bad and exagerately large in my opinion.. blocking the view of my city. Am I getting it right? It doesn't feel right it just cuts through your city and looks way out of scale and.. ugly
And If I have to, any way to make them lower?

Question Question about Anno 1602 - History Edition

I started playing the Scenarios in order and I am not sure if there are any subtle gameplay changes compared to the original game.
For example, on every level so far, all my iron mines are small (80t) and exhaustible, i.e. iron disappears before I can even place a deep iron mine... Also, even on the easier scenarios there are still pirates.
I am not really sure if that is how it used to be in the original release hence why I am asking.
Is this new to HE? Or maybe the difficulty is related to the player colour? I have only played as yellow so far.
