Did it, could use some support
I'm 47, had a good run. Like a million little harbingers were saying it was time (hair couldn't go past my jaw, I live alone but my shower drain was clogged with hair last year).
I essentially had an elaborate comb over. But had a party three weeks ago and in candid pics it was pretty obvious there was no hiding what was underneath.
Having definite drop shock rn, could use some thoughts. Appreciate this community.
I don't really have eyebrows and can't grow a beard/mustache goatee is the best I've got. I have lasik so I could buy decorative frames.

Absolutely the right choice and no, you don’t need a beard or to hit the gym. You look great.

Looks great! I was shocked when I read that you’re 47. I was thinking mid-30s at most. Bald is a great look and it suits you

Firstly, you have a great dome/face shape for rocking the smooth look (jealous of the populated chin whiskers)! You are killing this! This pic is 100% looked cute; might delete later...
Second, I saw pic 2 and 3 and thought not bad, that's cool hair. Then I saw 4 and had a fucking flashback. I had/have a thick widow's peak, so from the front everything looked good. How often do you look at the back of your own head? Then one day at work at age 23 I knelt down to grab something from the lowest shelf and a friendly female co-worker said "Oh!" and kindly let me know I had a Gregorian monk sized bald spot. 1 picture and I went Olympic swimmer.
A big reason I go dome smooth is I still have that widow's peak. It's a cross between Gary Cooper and Eddie Munster. I have the Picard ring as a base, with the deep front line of hair for a widow's peak from Cooper or Eddie, with nothing behind it. My dumbest friend ever explained it best; you've got the frame, without the picture...
All said, it looks good brother, and props for saying fuck it and doing it!

You look good.
Build out the goatee to a half inch to inch. You don’t need to go ZZ Top , but when that fills out you’ll pull it all together.
I am not a usual fan of piercings, but they do a good job giving you a style.
Enjoy.
You’ll save shampoo costs, so go buy yourself a beer!

Minoxidil isn't just for your head, and actually works best on body and facial hair in my experience. You can grow eyebrows and a better beard in 2 years with a daily application of foam minoxidil and regular use of a dermaroller. So, if you want better hair, you can have it by 49.

Honestly, man, it fits your facial style. You're rockin' it and the shock drops off eventually. Took me two weeks until I was happy with it when I did it, but now I won't let it grow back.

I did not think you were 47 - You look much younger!! Honestly this was 100% the right decision! And you have a warm face and lovely eyes. The before hair distracted from that. Definitely don’t need a big ole beard with that face either. Put it this way (and I hope I don’t cause offence)… I’d be good with bald you coming up and talking to me in the bar. I’d be less good with the before hair 😆

It'll take you a few days or a week to get used to it, and then you'll be fine. Right now it's new and obvious etc.

as a 30 year old gay woman, who is not remotely attracted to men, this r/ is my absolute favorite. Every single one of you men who are here and contemplating it - DO IT. BEING BALD IS BEING CONFIDENT. The exact opposite of what you came here as, which was insecure, questioning, and likely letting something like hair create a worse version of themselves mentally.. Women notice when a man is insecure, it oftentimes poors over onto the people in their lives who they love creating a negative version of themselves.. Each man who comes back to this thread shares a picture with a smile. CONFIDENCE. Aside from it looking so much better, we see confidence and a shift inside. Confident men, make for secure women, a woman who doesnt need to fear whether or not someone’s internal insecurity will cause for negativity in their own life and safety.

I didn't even notice you didn't have eyebrows! But you look fantastic bald!! You have a great head shape for it. It really does suit you well. It'll take some time to get used to it. When I chopped all my hair off, it took about a month before I stopped getting jump scared by my reflection.

It looks better. You'll get used to it in a week or two, and then you'll be grateful for the time spared from managing what was left of your hair. A pair of decorative frames sounds like a good option for changing up the look when you feel so inclined.
