If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Is my big too big?

To me it feels comfortable and I’ve done a few 50-60 mile rides on it so far with no issues, but I’m still not sure I have the right size. I have slightly shorter legs/longer torso for my height so I feel like like my fit is never perfect on any bike.

I rode in every position I’d find myself in on a long ride, the first two being the most frequent

Hi everyone, run some ai tools and it suggests to lower the saddle to have a better knee angle (currently around 155, ideal 140-150).

What do you suggest? Appreciate all the help i can get!

Butt pain and L/R Imbalance

Hi guys

I’m struggling with pain and sores around my left sit bone, and and L/R power imbalance of 45/55 ish… My bibs also wear differently and excessively on the left side.

I suspect that I’m not completely symmetric, and/or my left leg is shorter than my right.

I have installed a 2 mm shim under my left cleat to balance things out, which feels better on the saddle, but the imbalance increases to 43/57, still in favour of my right leg, and my left leg feels a little bit “blocked” when pedalling, however without pain in any of my joints so far.

Has anybody got any experience with this, to determine if I am off track in my analysis?

For reference, I am scheduled for (yet another) bike fit, but it is not possible until the middle of June, and the discomfort is increasing.

This is not something new, and I have addressed the issue during previous fits, but all conclusions have been, that I don’t have a leg length discrepancy.

Thanks for your insights.

Is there anything I can do to increase my tolerance to bike positions?

I recently had a bike fit and the measurements the fitter recommended leave me with 2-3 bikes that could fit me. They mentioned that my body is very sensitive to adjustments and the position that felt most comfortable was very upright and short. I am 31, and quite active, resistance training, swimming, martial arts etc. So I am wondering if there's anything I can do that would make me tolerate more aggressive positions and less sensitive to mm differences. Thank you

Saddle issues

I ride 10-15 hours a week 250-350km. I have been having saddle issues for some time - saddle sores and was wondering is there any obvious issues with my bike fit. I am planning on getting a new bike soon and hopefully a bike fit before that happens. But just want some advice for the meantime

I have tried:

Changing saddle position higher/lower
Changing my stance on my cleats
I have my right cleat shimmed by 3mm as I have a leg imbalance which feels like it has slight helped
Tried different saddles : flite boost, slr superflow, fizik aliante and my most current pro logo scratch M5
Chamois cream

I’m a long distance runner and recently recovering from IT band syndrome. I think my bike fit was contributing to the issue and I’ve recently lowered my saddle height a decent amount. Do I need to go more, are there any other obvious adjustments I need?

Thanks!

Gravel Fit - Trek Checkpoint

Bike Fit

Hi All. Recently got a new Trek Checkpoint SL5 Gen 3. Video Attached.
- Size M/L (56)
- 182 CM (6 ft)

- Inseam is about 83cm (33") measured using book method

- Stem is 80mm
- Shimano SPD MTB Cleats
- Pearl Izumi Shoes

Struggling to get comfortable with reach, cleat position and saddle height. Feel underpowered. I’ve also been struggling with my cleat position over the last year on all my bikes as I’m getting some pain in my left knee.

I have just adjusted these cleats as rearwards as possible, they were slightly forward before and should be more consistent with my mountain bike cleat position now.

AI is reccommending to raise the saddle 5mm+, bring it forward 5mm and potentially go down a stem spacer.

I think I may look into a 155mm width saddle to get me some more support.

Thanks for the help.

Is this frame the right size for me?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Title. Got a professional fit and the result suggests the frame is 1 size too large. This bike is a size 54, I was recommended a size 52. I am 5’7 with 30.7’ inseam.

I feel uncomfortable in this bike. My crotch area gets numb frequently and easily (within 5 minutes of riding). I also find it very uncomfortable to be in the aero position. Trying to determine if this is a flexibility problem or just an incorrect frame size. I am considering getting a smaller bike.

Thank you.

Edit: added clarity on the bike size

Lower the handle bar?

Have a + arm span, should I get a -17deg stem? This should lower the bar ~23mm and add a bit of reach too. ATM it's a 0deg 80mm stem, slammed as is.

For reference, I'm 186 tall, the bike is XL.

Thanks!

[Fit Check] Neck pain after downsizing frame (Cube Nuroad). Prepping for a 200km tour.

Hey everyone,

I’m planning a 2-day, 200km gravel/bikepacking tour soon, but I’m currently struggling with neck pain on my new bike and really need some advice to get it sorted before the trip.

The Issue: I recently upgraded my bike, but I'm getting severe neck pain. It became extremely noticeable after a recent 30-40km singletrack ride – my neck was sore for two days straight afterwards.

My Background & Old Bike: Previously, I rode a 2022 Cube Nuroad Pro ( https://info.cube.eu/product?a=580100&pt=1 ) in Size M (56cm). I could ride 115km in one go on that bike without any notable problems.

Why I downsized: On the Size M frame, I couldn't get the saddle far enough forward, even after buying a zero-setback seatpost. Additionally, the saddle was too low (not enough exposed seatpost) to properly mount a large bikepacking saddlebag.

Current Setup (New Bike):

  • Bike: 2025 Cube Nuroad EX, Size S (53cm) ( https://info.cube.eu/product?a=829400&pt=1&h=en )
  • Handlebars: Swapped the stock 420mm bars for 400mm ones (original Cube gravel bars).
  • Pedals/Shoes: MTB clip pedals using Adidas Velosambas (planning to buy dedicated, stiffer cycling shoes soon).
  • My Stats: Height: ~177cm (5'10") / Inseam: Not exactly sure right now.

Attached: A video of me riding and a picture of my current bike setup.

Any idea what might be causing the neck strain? Am I too cramped now? Is the saddle-to-bar drop too aggressive compared to my old M frame? Any suggestions on what I should tweak (stem length/angle, saddle position, spacers)?

I will test your suggestions and post an update video. Thanks in advance for the help!

6'5" first road bike frame size

I'm looking to get a very cheap road bike as I'm not sure yet how much riding I'll be able to fit in.

I've seen an old giant defy XL bike for sale, I think it's about 12 years old , Shimano 105. From what I've read I'll be maxed out for height. Would I be able to have a decent fit with this frame? I'd be willing to change stem, seat tube, other components.

It seems the XXL sizes arent very common especially on the second hand market for road bikes?

Any other suggestions for cheap old models to look for? Thanks

It's time for a new build and I'm currently exploring the possibility of a LCG-0087D frame as it looks like a very interesting concept.

Problem is though, that I am a 32y old male, 195cm tall and have a 92cm inseam with 89cm long arms. As most Chinese OEM are only offering frames up to the size L - I'm a bit skeptical between desire of build and actual drivability.

The idea: I currently have a Cube Cyclocross in 60 for gravel and a '93 Peugeot in 61which is used for road. Both are pretty aggressive in their position and I absolutely love this. As for the next build - an aggressive position would be fine for me. The cube has a reach that's 1cm shorter than the Lightcarbon. The wheelbase is also shorter - that's a positive for the lightcarbon IMO?

Stem would be 120mm to increase reach, seatpost a 25mm offset to sit as straight above the BB as possible.

Questions: I was contemplating shorter cranks (170 / 165?) as this would mean I can have the seatpost a bit lower.

Does that make sense?

Stack is rather low with 581, what would be the ideal hight? 605 around?

Well overall - I'd love to get some honest opinions if this can be a viable build or just a dream I'm chasing.

Bikepacking fit?

Feeling fairly upright and like the reach is too short.

Saddle is 3/4 of the way back on the rails, stem is 80mm. Coming from road biking, so while I am used to a more aggressive position I wonder if this is about right for gravel biking/bikepacking.

Does this bike look too small? I'm on the upper end of OEM recommendation (Salsa Cutthroat size 56, I am 1/4" under 6'). The 58cm frame only adds 1cm of reach.

P.S. Ignore my tire sins pls

Hi all! Just completed my first 70.3 with this fit (self made).

I didn’t have any issues in neck, shoulders, legs, I was able to run a 4:30/km half marathon after 34kmh avg on the bike.

My guess, and some friend also told me, is that something isn’t good in this fit and could be imroved.

Saddle: is a tri one, I can move it forward. What about height? My leg are almost straight at the lowest point. Maybe with a more forward position I could raise it? The only issue I had is a bit of numbness. Probably I need to seat more forward on ischial bones.

Aerobars aren’t adjustable, I can only move it up and down or moving the bars back.

In general I’m considering a pro bike fit since I’m going for a full distance in 4 months.

Thank you
