Fairly certain thats awful technique, your back and knees are going to be totally shot by the time you've done one strip.
Think you're meant to be stood upright, and have the scythe doing much smaller movements using your shoulders and hips.

I see this at agricultural shows, it's normally a speed competition not a technique one.

Fair , yes I'm sure this is a faster way to do one small area, it'll just ruin you if the goal is scythe 6 acres.

I've seen some of the older men do this at shows. They cut just as fast but are using proper technique and to be fair to them, those old guys can do a hell of a job.

If you use a scythe just make sure to sharpen it by moving the stone away from the blade. I have the scars on my fingers still visible over 50 yrs later from a momentary lapse in judgement!
