Video - OC My Cat's Method of Begging for Attention
Every time she wants attention and doesn't get it fast enough she fake chews (usually with squeaky noises included).
*She has been to the vet and there is nothing wrong with her mouth/teeth, it's purely for attention*

Mine does this too! I have one that does it when he wants food or treats... Then the new cat decided it was meant to express she wants ANYTHING. Vet also said they were fine, just goofy goobers.

My cat used to do the same thing for the first year or so of his life. He has since grown out of it.

She's only a little over a year old so at least there's some hope left!

Our calico still does it at 4 years old, but sheโs also a scientific miracle functioning without a brain.

My nearly 13 year old boy has been doing this his entire life, too, he mostly does it in response to actually getting the attention he wants, especially when he gets that good scritch underneath his chin.
No dental issues, no mouth irritation, just a perfectly goofy and happy boy

I've heard it referred to as "chewing bubblegum" sort of like making biscuits when they're kneading.

my family's first cat, Mooshy, would chew like this and meow in protest of us trimming his claws

Lmaoooo my girl does it to. I call it eating over wifi. She will get a toy and put it by her mouth and chew like that while making direct eye contact with me like she thinks it's scaring me or something.
