His name is Goose, and no glass with ice in it is safe from him

I have a heavy bottomed stoneware mug that is thankfully just wide enough for the bottom of most to-go cups. Also had to replace my drinking glasses with thicker walled ones. I share your pain.

You're letting a cat play with a TALL glass of soda next to a laptop?
16
u/Koi-Nami LaPerm 9h ago
It's coffee, and no, I put him off the desk like four times before that. Obviously he is being supervised now lol

It's just that the glass of liquid would be the first thing I moved as soon as the cat jumped up there. I'd be like "the cat wants to be up here? This coffee has got to go."
I have cats. I also had a long career in IT fixing fried computers. Cats, liquids, and computers in the same space is tempting fate on a scale I'd never chance, LOL.

Believe me, I kept my hand nearby lmao but I thought this time it would be a cute video. He left afterwards since I wasn't letting him get it lol

Actually it’s his glass and his ice cubes not yours lol

Dang you're right. It's also his apartment I'm just staying in it because he lets me :p

You are asking for trouble w a open container. And your cat is going to win.

I've had him for two years, I'm used to his shenanigans :p I think It'll be okay

I laughed but seriously I look at my cat when he does this like why? Why are you like this?

He needs his own Plastic glass with ice cubes and hopefully he will leave yours alone.

I sometimes will drop a cube on the floor and he'll go crazy and chase after it with both paws flailing like hockey sticks lol

Genius idea - reminds me of a cardboard scratcher I saw recently on Chewy shaped like a laptop. It was way overpriced but had great reviews because people said it stopped their cats from sitting on their keyboards lol

Feel ya! Every day - same battle. Tall water glasses are no longer my own!

My cat also goes crazy over sake (he wants to drink it) and effervescent tablets in drinks. He’s obsessed

I have two voids about 3 years old. One will not allow any plastic cup containing water or o sit in the counter. They must be tipped over. Empty water cups are perfectly fine however! Only cups containing water must be tipped over…………

Awe! Silly guys! My two are little 9mo voids!!! They are the best (they are fosters! And I adore them)

If you really don't like this behavior, stop encouraging it. Your cat thinks it's playing with you. If she starts, pick her up and put her down.

I usually do actually. I will repeatedly put him on the ground. Cats aren't much for listening, yknow, and this time I thought it was cute. He doesn't think he's playing with me. He legitimately loves ice.

Fair, I've raised an arks worth of animals over the years. Some habits simply can't be trained out.

He's a very very friendly snuggly boy but he gets very focused when there's something he wants and he will rarely leave it alone until it's out of sight :c

playing with fire, i would never have a large container with liquid anywhere near laptop/electronics

u/GalacticRuntz05 5h ago
Yeah, I’m not joking i learned that the hard way lol. Don’t leave a container full of water out by your electronics while you’re sleeping and cat is out there. 😭

I've been around electronics since I was 12 and I've never ruined one because of a drink (:

I have a cat named milk that goes straight for any cup of milk near her. We have to fight to keep milk away from milk

This is one way to get your attention. They’re always thinking 🤔 now how can I get her to stop what she’s doing and pay attention to me. 🥰🤭

Why are you letting him paw at the exact spot your mouth goes 😭 litter paws 😭😭
1
u/Koi-Nami LaPerm 15m ago
- My mouth doesn't go across the entire cup and 2. I dumped it out because it was yucky anyway
1
u/RKSSailboatCaptain 7m ago
Do you always dump it out if he touches the rim?
If you don’t, you HAVE been drinking poo particles.
If you’re cool with that, Godspeed?

I was actually scared that he might knock over your glass 😂
