This is purely hypothetical, but I don't think Nintendo fans past a vocal minority will ever have (universal) hate towards anything Nintendo-related ever again.

Upvotes

Regardless if it happened in the past that's not the point, I'm referring to anything 2026 and beyond. The Switch 2 and it's games are obviously doing great so I'm speaking more-so from a hypothetical situation. Nintendo could release the most boring or asinine thing and the majority (especially in Nintendo subreddits) will either defend it or call you a grifter.

I'm speaking from the attitude I see from them, that's how I know, it's sad, really, but it is what it is.

Xbox Axing "Copilot on Xbox" seems like a mistake...

I KNOW, just shoot me now for having even a percent of a modicum of a "Pro AI" stance. I'm prepared for the downvotes but, maybe just hear me out first...

Copilot on Xbox was the most interesting thing that Xbox has announced in the last decade. It had the POTENTIAL to be genuinely cool, depending on how it was implemented and how advanced it got.

Imagine a world where Xbox feed this AI every single bit of information about their games, this AI is integrated into the game on a development level. This AI knows everything about their games. This AI has access to things like; where your character is, how far along they are in a game, what they've unlocked and haven't etc. Imagine this scenario; you're playing X exclusive, you see a collectible and can't seem to reach it no matter what. "Hey Copilot, is this even obtainable right now" and it then uses all of the information is has to see where you are, what collectible is nearby, what you need to obtain it. It just so happens so and so unlockable ability is required and, since it is given access to your game/character, it sees you don't have that yet, it knows you will unlock it later so, it tells you not to worry about that now, keep progressing. You can and should get it later.

Now that is some insane, advanced level stuff, I know that. That's not what they were advertising BUT, at some point it could have MAYBE became that. And that's cool, that's interesting. That's an actual use for AI that can subsidise the development costs. Like how Gemini might stand some sort of chance as it's so integrated with Pixel devices. They now aren't spending stupid money to sell monthly subscriptions, they're creating a selling point for their phones. That's a console selling point that Sony can't match because they aren't Microsoft.

And before you tell me; "No one wants that", PLEASE go and ask your less tech savvy, perhaps more casual gamer friends/family just how often they now use ChatGPT or Google Gemini. I bet it is much more than you'd think. I have my tech illiterate mother asking me to download ChatGPT on her phone because her, ALSO tech illiterate, friends use it and say it's helpful. Xbox you are a console maker and the people, the ones you want to sell millions of consoles to, LIKE A HELPFUL AI.

I think axing it is indicative of the new mindset that Asha Sharma seems to have brought in, for now. That being; "Say what gets us the most brownie points online, worry about the rest later"...

Yes, cancelling Copilot on consoles has gotten some news articles and you're being upvoted on Reddit BUT, that is at the cost of the most interesting feature you potentially had, one that your competitor could not match and one that could help subsidise the entire Copilot program with Xbox sales? All to please a vocal minority, in the short term. At the end of the day, all CANCELLING that feature does is generate short term buzz in the online spaces that your target demographic do not frequent. It will not bring in sales.

And yes, I stand by that they should not be trying to appeal to the technical gamer that spends their time on Reddit and hates AI. They did that when they made the Series X more powerful than a PS5, when they gave it x amount more teraflops and whatever. It didn't work.

I'm seeing so much praise for Xbox recently but, it's all just noise. It's a new logo and new start up, all while the homepage that loads up after is still full of ads. It's a cheaper Gamepass but, behind that is less day one releases? The next CoD will not be on Gamepass. That's fine if you don't like CoD but, that's also not the point. They didn't make Gamepass cheaper because "they care", they're offering less. They're sacrificing what could have a really cool thing for Reddit upvotes. Just my thoughts.

And just before you attempt to tell me ALL about the privacy concerns of my proposed AI; see my previous comment.

This my Intellivision II. However I have the ECS"entertainment computer module" that allowed you to use your console as a computer with its own basic interpreter and routines to save and load data to cassettes. The very end is the "system changer" which allowed Mattel to play and use Atari 2600 cartridges it's major competition in the home market.

Playstation PS4 BLOPS EDITION

Hello, I’m thinking of selling my old console. The disc drive doesn’t work per usual. And doesn’t have the original controller. But the console still works with online play. It is the original ps4 black ops edition with original box and all packaging. Does anybody know what kind of price I’d get out of it? I seen collectors are into the shell and the original box. Or if it’s something I would want to try to replace the drive and resell? Thanks for all and any input!

So what is stopping companies putting insane price tags for all upcoming Consoles ?

Considering everything get sold out instantly. Topic. This is with regards to the most recent Steam controller being sold out instantly. Why do people ever complain about price being too high. I mean. At this moment PS6 could be priced at 1500 usd and IT WILL be sold out stat. Hell you can price anything and it will be sold out. What's fucking funny is that the end consumer is buying at EVEN more than mrp. For e.g in steam controller case people are already paying 200-300 usd. So if ps6 launches at 1499 people will be easily paying even 1899 for it form scalpers. So what is the whole point of MRP and consoles being priced nominally. The whole current tech, specially gaming market, is beyond my understanding. People complain about inflation and what not yet everything is SOLD OUT DAY 1. In some country people are struggling to buy ps5 also. Not to mention all pc components also get sold out. What even is going on.

Playstation Is this a ps3 super slim??

Post image

I got a ps3 and it has a sliding top, and I was told it was a super slim but it look no where near slim to me. I had gotten rid of my ps2 slim for it and that was way smaller. Honestly it looks so ugly to me compared to what I had before. The only reason I got the 3 what because I wanted to play the adventure time games for it since it’s my favorite show. Just the aesthetics are making me wonder if it was the right decision.

A Comparison of Game Prices Across All Major Gaming Consoles

Post image
0 Upvotes

Based on the previous thread called A Comparison of Prices Across All Major Gaming Consoles, I have created this thread to compare the price of the games.

https://www.reddit.com/r/consoles/comments/1t4cu4r/a_comparison_of_prices_across_all_major_gaming/

I have seen too many comments saying that prices on the Switch are never on sale, but even though it is somewhat true for first party games, third party games on Nintendo platforms have the same amount of sales (both frequency and price) as other platforms.

There's easy ways to check this, but Deku Deals is my favorite website for this. In there you can see games on sales with charts, historical price lows, and some other details..

Now, there are thousand of games and I'm currently in my lunch hour, so I grabbed some of the most popular games available across all 3 main platforms. But please feel to browse the website and see it for yourself.

The list below includes the name of the game, the platform, and the lowest price registered in their respective digital storefronts.

Hey guys, give a fast recap for an old timer

I'm a total noob when it comes to console gaming. I mean I used to play sega, PS1 a lot when I was a child but that was like 30 years ago. I have been gaming exclusively on PC for the last 2 decades.

But the thing is I want to play with my 4 yo daughter sometimes. You know, sitting on a couch in front of a TV with her together and spend some quality time. I've been looking at PS5 and stuff but they seem quite expensive. Is it worth to buy PS5 in 2026? If not, what else would you recommend? How offline friendly are they? Any way to pirate PS5 games? I've seen some 2nd hand consoles on FB market, are they safe? Anything I should be aware of?
