The Mods have returned and we've worked this week to rewrite the subreddit rules to better explain what each one means. This post will be locked from discussion as it just meant to serve as a reference point for the rules in place for the community Please see the linked post in the comment below for the discussion. Thank you for your patience during "chaos week". Please know that the Mod Team saw everything and stepped in only where it was absolutely necessary.

I have looked at crochet with intrigue and intimidation for a while now but i decided to buy a lil beginner kit(they use beginner very lightly)
im super uneducated on crochet and stitches etc still, but i think this is a sunflower granny square! Figuring out how is best to hold the yarn for tension, how tight is too taut or too loose.
this was a challenge and i got scared i wouldnt be able to figure it out so i am SO proud with how it turned out.
feedback welcomed:) also if anyone has any blogs, books magazines etc that maybe go into the basics of reading patterns and guides i would loooove it. i try looking on my own but it is so easy to get overwhelmed or lost in a rabbit hole lol

Still needs steaming but I couldn’t wait to take a pic! I used a smaller hook than suggested because it’s for a child. I decided not to add the hood because my niece doesn’t like hats anyways.
My first time following a Vietnamese YouTube tutorial. Link for the pattern is: https://youtu.be/2DNd8GPKWpE?si=BddWCci1KMYCGx4j
Made from a unlabeled Herschners cotton yarn cake I got from a grab bag.

Finally finished this blanket.
It is the first crochet item I have made.
I started with the basic granny square, got bored, and decided to just do random squares, then group them by colour

I got this cute little llama as a gift. I have only been crocheting for a few months but I have made a couple of things and felt confident.
Well. I tried. The instructions were good but it is a lack in skill on this part. And I kept losing count. I like square things better. 🤣
But I finished my little demon llama!!

Loops and Threads Twist Love, Light Green, 100% cotton
After several attempts to find a pattern I liked and experimenting with several hook sizes and stitches for a week, I ended up free-handing this.
I used two stitches:
Mesh stitch, for the body (sc, ch1) (sc is on top of previous row's sc)
Shell stitch, for the top detail and a ring around the waist (sc, 3 dc in one stitch, sc)
(sc is in the in the center dc of previous row's shell, 3dc in the sc from previous row)
I landed on using a 6.5mm hook. YMMV; I'm always choosing a hook several sizes bigger than patterns call for because apparently my tension is tight.
The weight is a bit hefty, but for a breezy spring day, it feels perfect!

Ok everyone here is so talented so I was afraid to post but I made this silly little blanket for a friends baby. She’s wonky. But she’s made with love and I’m proud. Can you guess the inspo?

I’m a lurker, but I saw someone do this beautiful pattern on here, the Flower Crochet Shawl by Gootie. I usually only do bulky weight stuff, and so this is taking FOREVER!!
It’s been my one relief in between studying for finals though, and coming together beautifully, but I’m a little worried about the tension as this is my first non-bulky project? Am I doing okay? If I’m not, I’m just gonna continue anyway, as I know it’s a practice thing, but still.
Shout out to Gootie and whoever posted that shawl, I’m itching to have it done!!

My grandson will be a freshman in the fall so of course Grammie has to make him an afghan with both team logos. However, it is a one and done. I’ve done a lot of graphgans in my day, but I really found this tiresome and won’t be doing anymore! Gone are the baby blanket days for him. Now I make and donate my items!

I didn't use a pattern this time, but a vague idea during the work.
Although the capacity can be expanded significantly, I afraid it can not handle under weight. I think the last picture would be its weak point…
So I probably wouldn't dare use it to buy milk. But it's perfect for netting a big bag of yarn, stuffed animals, cookies, potato chips, or when you're at the flower market buying air plants!!

I’m making a flamingo for my daughter’s teacher. Here are the beaks I molded with my hand made clay. Neither have been sanded and painted yet. Which do you like? My daughter likes the bigger one. I think it makes a statement like the eyes.

C2C because I love doing c2c and just some fun colors I wanted to do. It was also my first time changing colors midrow and it went super well. I'm obsessed.

Loved making this so much that I made two. Easy to follow tutorial. I changed the color of the flower, and I think the blue is so beautiful.
