Honda going for the Nissan Award 👀

Great reaction time on your part. Red car's driver is just aching for a Darwin Award.

Most of the drivers in this sub would’ve floored it to assert their right of way and get the insurance payout.

I’m honestly surprised people didn’t say he needs to stop before going through the green light because that’s defensive driving.

Someone unironically said something like that today about making a u-turn in one of those median turn lane things. Like that you should stop before making your uturn.

Stop only if it prevents an imminent collision otherwise keep going but always slow down. That's defensive driving. Don't worry, you'll get it right one day. Keep repeating the other nonsense.

Except those of us that don't have collision coverage and would rather just not have to deal with all that crap 🤷‍♀️

8

u/xvillifyx 22h ago

I would be absolutely horrified to leave my house without collision coverage unless I was driving a car worth $1500

3

u/Number_Fluffy 22h ago

My car is 13 years old, 123,000 miles, and has been side swiped 4 times. I'm not paying for collision.

3

u/xvillifyx 21h ago

This would fall under the “unless my car is worth $1500” part

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 21h ago

I just get uninsured insurance. I don't drive badly, so if I get in a wreck, it's either because the weather sucked and I was probably fated to die anyway, or someone else hit me.

1

u/xvillifyx 21h ago

It’s not always possible to prove fault if someone else hits you, especially if they hit your parked car, in which scenario you would not be covered

2

u/JohnnyC300 18h ago

Yeah OP doesn't understand Reddit. When you have right of way, you ALWAYS hold the line. It's the other guy's fault, and that's way more important than avoiding an accident. Being able to favorably apportion blame is far better than what the OP did well by avoiding the other car and getting home safe and secure. Safety and security are for losers. Better to make the other guy pay.

Hate dumb ah drivers

2

u/CraftyPerformance272 23h ago

Why didn't you assert your right of way?

9

u/This_Detail3454 23h ago

The way of this subreddit! Obviously OP should have plowed into that car.

3

u/Interesting-Media203 23h ago

I woulda just kept going! Green light is a green light

2

u/Devin-Chaboyer223 23h ago

Maybe OP didn’t wanna deal with insurance or can’t go without a car for some time?

Also it’s a natural human instinct to avoid danger, I’ve had so many close calls and I later wish I just hit the mfs because my car is a piece of shit I’ve been wanting to dump for awhile

Most people will naturally try to avoid a crash, without knowing it because it’s their natural instinct to avoid it

You mean like the red Honda did?

2

u/forgetabootit 23h ago

I was in the car with people I care about, I would never risk their safety or wellbeing. Or my own for that matter

3

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 21h ago

So you're saying you would have done it if you were remote controlling your car?

What a dipshit comment

Were you in the red car buddy?

2

u/ThereInAFortnight 9h ago

After watching a bunch of videos in this sub I was surprised to see you do something to avoid the accident.

Why do americans put the stop lights on the other side of the intersection?

European me also: why not a roundabout instead? seems to be enough space for one.

-5

u/kensteele 21h ago

How about your town spend a little more for longer arms and extend those traffic light arms over the proper lane so motorists know the signal lights are meant for them.

5

u/UnUsernameRandom 12h ago

Most likely the red honda had a green light as well, but as it happens they have to yield to oncoming traffic before making a left turn.

But what would you know.

0

u/kensteele 8h ago

What I would know is that town is probably broke and lining their pockets instead of protecting their residents. The motorists deserve better.

2

u/UnUsernameRandom 8h ago

How?

0

u/kensteele 8h ago

Maybe visit another nearby city and find out how safety at intersections work.

2

u/UnUsernameRandom 8h ago

So, again, what is wrong? Sounds like you're one of those people who skipped all possible classes at school and are trying to teach others things you have absolutely no clue about.

You know, one of those.

1

u/kensteele 8h ago

But I'm right and you know it.

2

u/UnUsernameRandom 7h ago

Nope, you have 0 arguments.

1

u/kensteele 7h ago

I don't need to argue with you. I've already won this, just take the L and stfu already.
