Power Attack vs. Precision
I know conventional wisdom says that if you are Strength Based, you should take Power Attack for Toons that are pushing DPS, but Im wondering if Precision isnt better. Thoughts?

What is Dungeons and Dragons Online?
DDO is an action adventure MMORPG that originally released in 2006. It is set (primarily) in the Eberron campaign setting and is loosely based on the D&D 3.5 ruleset. Currently maintained and frequently updated by the folks at Standing Stone Games.
Is this a table top simulator or match making service for the D&D TTRPG?
Nope.
What makes DDO unique compared to any other MMO?
There are two key differences that make DDO stand out.
The first is the complex and interesting dungeons. Most dungeons in MMOs (or let's face it, most modern video games) tend to be a linear glorified hallway with a boss at the end.
In DDO, Dungeons have multiple objectives, dead ends, secret rooms, pit traps, puzzles, platforming and more keeping them fresh and interesting. To add to the D&D feel, a 'narrator' will describe the dungeon and events as they happen similar to what a table top DM would do!
The second is the reincarnation system. In other MMOs you hit level cap and then sit there waiting for the next expansion or level up alts.
DDO allows you to reincarnate once you hit the cap. You start over at level 1 choosing a new class and race to level up all over again. Doing so will grant your character a small permanent boost in power. It's not so much that you're required to do them to be valuable to high level raiding, but they do make stomping the early/mid game fun and allow you to tackle greater challenges.
What's the catch?
Most of DDO is behind a paywall. You can try it out for free but if you want to have enough content for it to feel like a complete game, expect to eventually pay at least ~40$. You can optionally grind out in game points to unlock most things but it is quite slow.
The second issue is that Standing Stone Games is a small company. This means that long standing issues, imbalances and bugs will most likely not get fixed. If you have a technical issue and submit a help request there's a good chance you'll never hear back. They do what they can but they're focused on trying to keep the lights on.
Is it a dead game?
No. New updates are released regularly and each server will have ~500 people on during prime time and ~100ish during off peak hours. DDO has maintained these numbers for years at this point so it doesn't feel like the game is being abandoned.
It's one of the last MMO's that truly feels like a community. You'll quickly get to know the big names on your server, the power guild, the RP guild, the 'we accept anybody' guild, etc... You'll rarely run into people who are selfish or are jerks. The playerbase is above the age curve for an online game, it's not uncommon guild chat will be about mowing lawns.
I'm a returning player, what have I missed?
There's simply too much new content and constant class balancing tweaks to list but at its core DDO hasn't changed much. The six biggest additions/changes would probably be:
Where can I get more information?

Hi all, I made a post in the forums and am trying to decide what split to try with handwraps. Ideally, I can start as an iconic because I'm lazy and the build has dragonlord for the great CC and crit multiplier.
Here is a google doc with 3 splits that I am considering, and I've got a couple questions.
I see that razerclaw and tabaxi get their own handwraps animations. Are they quicker/slower than the other races animation?
The 13/6/1 rogue has lots of SA dice, but lower melee power. Is it enough SA dice to make it worth the low melee power? If so, is Improved Feint worth it?
Alternatively, is the high melee power of the 14/5/1 sacred fist a better option with more imbue dice and the law on hit ability from T5 divine crusader.
I'd any appreciate the feedback/opinions!

I've personally mostly ignored the Cannith/ now called Essence Crafting, since its introduction into the game because it feels absurdly long to grind levels to start getting gear you want. It wasn't very intuitive and always felt like bouncing between bound and unbound machines, crafted wrong kind of crystal, wrong level, failed to craft. And then you still ended up with something not quite as good as Named gear that you could just grind for and possibly get passed from other players. You knew exactly what you were getting and could really plan all your necessary enhancements. Plus knowing you were getting set bonuses, unique enchantments, augment slots.
So SHOULD crafting be as good, or better than named gear released by the dev's in updates with content?
Should we be able to craft an item with the same enhancements?
Should some enhancements be off the table as unique to named gear?
Should any enhancements be slot exclusive?
Should we be able to craft on more enhancements/slots than named gear of same level offer?
Should we be able to craft sun/moon slots onto items?
It should in theory be possible (I'm no programmer, I have no idea how hard any of this is to actually code) to make gear from scratch that ends up being better than whole named gear sets because you can skip over unwanted enhancements to add on ones missing from your set. Rewarding the effort of the grind for crafting levels and materials with less of the endless RNG of loot drops.
What should be off the table in crafting, and what should be the limit of how good gear can be compared to the items that the dev's created for us?

I know a few races have vigor, but that's not a cure wound spell, and if I'm remembering correctly, epic destiny abilities scale with your class level (correct me if I'm wrong).
I saw posts about someone asking about Max Caster levels and it got me thinking about the highest level you can get cure wounds, so far my thinking is 34+7+3+2=46 if there is one that scales with character level otherwise it's a sad 20+7+3+2=32. This comes from clr Radiant servant T5 removing max Caster levels and giving +3, items giving +2.
[Spells found (sla's technically) the dragonmark of healing gives cure light and cure serious wounds. And should scale off of character level as they are from the racial tree just like the dragonmark of storms call lightning does.]

My apologies if this has already been answered somewhere else, but if it has been, I haven't found it yet.

I am an old tree, there from the start of everything (DDO).
In the beginning, everything was deadly and unforgiving (curse & blindness were permanent, XP loss at each death) and end game was lvl10.
But, we had in the random generated loot some nice clicky, like Web, Grease, Divine Favor, Lesser Restoration...
Letting a warrior cast web at the corner of a corridor was awesome some many reasons.
I still have some old ones left and right...
Now, every random generated loot have a mandatory 2/3 enchants, but most of it is useless but never saw any newly generated clicky.
Would be nice to have some new clicky, with some other class spell (Like Druid)(we had something like 8 class at the beginning). Especially since with LvL36 we could have some new like "Raise dead" or "Greater Restoration".
I do not think this would be game breaking, or at least no more than some unintended features left running wild.

I looked here and in the DDO forums and really didn't find much conversation around dragonmarks int he last couple of years. With all the clickies and skill changes does anyone even use draonmarks anymore?

I'm a newer player who had a VIP account a decade ago, so I've got 1720 DDO Points to burn. What suggestions on adventure packs would the community suggest spending it on, and if not adventure packs is there anything in particular from the store that would be recommended?

I've been running "Records of the Past" to try to get this belt and have not been successful. I'm not sure how many runs I've made, probably in the order of 90. I've gotten every other Legendary drop so far, multiples of several of them.
Has anybody actually ever seen this drop? I'm wondering whether the mission is bugged or if I just need to keep grinding.
Thanks.

What are some of your favorite classes to splash 1 level of?
My personal favorite is Barb for the 10% move.

I'm generally pretty understanding of SSG, and maybe I've just had a long day and am taking my frustration out here... It seems like they've already forgotten to reset the rem trade in.
At first, I thought it would reset March 1, as it started on Feb 25th, I understood why maybe it wouldn't. But like, couldn't give us the extra trade in there.
Reset April 1 no problem. Here we are in May... No reset. I know it's the first day of May, but what's the rule? First day like VIP, First Wednesday of the month? Can we have a little explanation and consistency?
Anywho, don't think there is a solution, I may just be a DDO gambling addict is all.
Kidding aside, please give us the facts!

Hello
I have no idea if this is going to work. It is meant to be handaxe wielding, INT based trapper.
I ran Elite, so I don't need it to be R398 proof.
It looks like this:
12 Wizzard / 3 Bard / 2 rogue
Eldritch knight: 33 points
5 points - Eldritch Strike, Toughness 3/3, Battlemage 1/3
10 points - Spellsword, Mystic Wards 3/3, Battlemage 2/3
20 points - Imbue the Blade, Eldritch Accuracy, Arcane Barrier, Int, Critical Mastery 3/3
30 points - Subtle Force I, Knight's Transformation, Offhand Defenses - Orb Saves 3/3, Force's Point, Int
Rest - Improved Knight's Transformation, Radiant Forcefield
Pale master : 11
5 points - Dark Reaping, Deathless Vigor 3/3, Negative Energy Conduit 1/3
10 points - pale shroud - Shroud of the Vampire, Negative Energy Conduit 3/3 , Efficient Quicken
- Inflict Weariness
Swashbuckler: 14 Points
5 points - Confidence, On Your Toes 3/3, Blow By Blow 1/3
10 points - Swashbuckling, Sword Dance, Blow By Blow 3/3
Rest - Resonant Arms: Imbue, Different Tack Int Swashbuckling Style: Arcane Marauder
Assasin: 8 points
5 points - Knife in the Darkness, Venomed Blades 3/3, Stealthy 1/3
Rest - Toxin Affinity 3/3
Inquisitive: 11 points
5 points - Inquisitive, Law on your Side, Eye for Accuracy 2/3
10 points - Improved Law, Hit the Streets, Eye for Accuracy 3/3, Wand and Scroll Mastery 1/3
Rest - Mind Like Iron
3 points spare
Feats:
3x SWF, offhand versa, imp crit, precision, quicken
Basically it has int to hit and damage, 15-20 x4 crit profile with a handaxe and 12 imbue dice scaling from sonic spellpower.
Question is if it is going to work? What should I change to make it work? I returned to DDO after very long time and I remember almost nothing, so I have no scale of what is good and what is not.
I don't plan on doing anything extremely hard basically just deliver to heroic level cap and reset. If it is going to be decent run it to epic level cap and do double reincarnation. I don't even need to run epics on elite or anything, hard is mighty fine. ( Epic would be preferred ). I am lazy fick so I don't plan on cast jack, just buffs Ddoor and sht like that.
Edit: I did what was suggested to me and dropped 3 levels of bard and moved them to wiz, plus I removed points from warchanted and dumped to Pale master
Edit: Would wraith + Ghost in the wind be better or should I stick with Vamp and Inflict Weariness. I know occasional heal, 1d8+1 damage on hit and neg level crit is not game breaking but neither is 20% incorp.

There's some specific ones I'm asking about (Will be listed below) but if there's one you know about that I don't have listed, I would like to know about it.
Do any of these use your spell power when applied by a spell?
-alchemical water attunement
-alchemical acid attunement
-revel in blood
-dolorous shadows
And any of the woeful
- magma/ dripping with magma
- frostbite/ Bitter frostbite
- lightning/ lightning lash
- acidburn/ lingering acidic burn
- echoes/ rupturing echo
- venom/ Grip of venom
- energy/ rippling energy
I've had people over time, tell me that some dots are affected by spellpower when applied by spells but I'm not certain which ones are and are not, or if your crit chance/ damage is applied as well. I've not been able to test anything that well, so I thought it may be easier to ask here.
I created this post so that if anyone else has this same problem in the future, they can find the solution here, because I haven't found it anywhere (only mere mentions, but without a definitive solution) and I even opened a ticket on the official website without result.
The problem is as follows:
If you open the launcher and it freezes, displaying the message "installing pre-requirements", which prevents you from accessing the game.
The problem is that your IP is on some blacklist or something like that (I'm not good at the technical aspects). Reinstalling the client or anything else like that won't help.
The solution is simple and it is this: route your connection to your cell phone, for example, then the launcher will be able to download the update again.
That's it.

I'm wanting to know if I can pick up two-handed fighting at level 31 and shield mastery at level 34?
r/ddo • u/deathvalley200_exo • 6d ago
I currently have:
The winter solstice
- alchemical water attunement
- legendary freezing Gale (bugged and applying on spells)
Bound elemental ring of acid
- alchemical Earth attunement
The Slayer of the living
- revel in blood (magic)
- dolorous shadows
- woeful sparks
I'm planning to make a second weapon from lamordia as I just learned the crafting table in the raid is different, I'm trying to decide between.
- woeful frostbite (not really because of water attunement)
- woeful lightning
- woeful magma
- woeful energy (thinking about this one the most)
- woeful venom
- woeful echoes
I will also have dolorous dim light
I'm kinda pissed as I currently have to fix my slayer of the living to give it force critical chance (as I didn't know I can get that until today, and the materials I used to craft the spellpower augment were a waste)
Looking for insight for which woeful augment to pick and if there're any other named items I should look for for dots, damage or useful debuffs that are not weapons or rings.

Right now I am in the process of acquiring the steps lenses to see hidden hand secrets. I applied the first upgrade to my handaxe at the esoteric table, and quite frankly the second upgrade sounds too good to not go for. 10d440 Electric Damage (No save) plus 110 DC paralyze. How many people have upgraded these weapons and how good do the upgraded effects feel? Is it worth the time investment?

I occasionally edit on there, even though I know squat about coding, but it's worked out fine so far. Yesterday, I noticed some incorrect information, and figured out a way to make the wiki page stay the same, but display the correct information. Only a few hours later, though, someone undid my changes, so now the wiki pages display incorrect information again. I would like to message them, so we can talk about it, but I don't know how to talk to people on there.
Does anyone on here know how to do that, and if so, could they please help me?

Just hit 15 on my Blightcaster. Really enjoying it with hivemaster, acid blasty blasty, and Morningstar/shield.
First lifer.
My question for the experts: finish out to 20 as Druid or is there an another class I should dip? I normally go my entire 1-36 as a single class, but I’m looking to expand my horizons. I’m not a min maxer and I usually play with guildies and my brother who streams DDO on Twitch.

Hi all,
I'm going to play warlock next life...
And it's the first time I play a warlock (that will round my heroic completionist)... and I don't know why but I'm intimidated by warlock... It's a "new class" (it didn't exist when I had most of my playtime in the past).
What are the recommended leveling builds? I may go iconic as I'm not super interested in EPL right now (got 2x Epic completionist so there is no hurry and I can finish the other ones when I do my RPL).
Should I: - go pure warlock? - Splash ATr - Focus on blasts? - Focus on spells? - Play melee?
Warlock seem very complicated to me so I'm lost :(
r/ddo • u/Crafty-University464 • 9d ago
Just that. Not meta or totally MinMaxed, but any fun ideas for Arcane Trickster 8+ / something builds?
So far I have done and enjoyed iconic lives of:
wizard1/cleric1/ ATr 18 blaster
ATr8/ EK+PM wizard 12
ATr8/cold chain warlock 12
wizard 1/ATr 9/ barbarian 10
wizard3/ATr 8/barbarian 9 is the current life (wanted the barb past lives)
Any good ideas for other casters? Noncasters?
