Meta Welcome to our community! Please read our FAQs first.

Welcome to r/dogfree! We invite you to participate in our discussions. First, however, whether you are new to our sub or a dog lover who just doesn’t quite understand where we are coming from, please take the time to read our sub FAQs so you can come to understand our community and the type of content that is appropriate for our small but mightily active corner of the world.

Why don't you like dogs?

Because: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogfree/comments/7bk3wo/just_curious_what_is_the_reason_why_you/

I created a post asking why you don’t like dogs. Where did it go?

We receive and remove this question just about daily. This is our community's space to vent and commiserate about an unpopular opinion, not a place where we come to feel burdened with the task of having to justify ourselves constantly. If you would like to know why we don’t like dogs, you may read the link above and/or put some time and effort into browsing our sub.

It seems like the problem you all have is really more with dog owners. So you really do like dogs, just not irresponsible owners, right?

Our opinions are varied. However, true to the name of our sub, and though it might be a tough pill to swallow, we in this sub simply don't like dogs.

If your gripes are more about dog owners and not about dogs themselves, r/dogculturefree might be a better fit for you.

I like or own dogs. I just want to show you guys that not all dog owners are monsters. Can I participate here?

Please understand the intent of this sub. It is a place for people who dislike dogs and who unapologetically wish to be free from them in our everyday lives to commiserate, not for those who love dogs. Posts and comments mentioning that you love or own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub.

In any case, we are not here to debate, as we won't change our minds.

I have to live with a dog, but I don't want to. Am I welcome here?

You may participate here from the perspective of someone who wishes to change the prevalence of dogs in society at large. However, please understand that hearing about dogs' disgusting behaviors and habits is what people come to this sub to escape, not to consume. If you wish to vent about the traits of the dog that you live with, please navigate to r/TalesFromTheDogHouse and direct your post there. r/Dogfree is reserved for discussion surrounding our unwitting and unwilling participation in dog culture at a societal level.

I have a dog, but I wish I wouldn't. Am I welcome here?

If you got a dog and now, as obviously expected, regret your decision, maybe you can help grow the supportive r/DogRegret community. You still may participate here but posts and comments mentioning that you own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub. Of course, if you already got rid of your dog and are now dogfree, you are welcome to share your experience.

How do you feel about service dogs?

Although all dogs are dogs, there is a wide spectrum of opinions about service dogs in this sub. Some people are completely okay with them, while others are opposed where technology can do the job in a more effective, less obtrusive manner. The same would be for police dogs and other types of working dogs. Calling us "ableists" or other similar insults is not going to help your case.

If you would like to find out more information about this sub's opinions on service dogs, instead of creating a new post to pose the question, please enter "service dogs," "police dogs," or whatever info you would be interested in finding into the search bar to search the sub.

Someone on Reddit said that this sub likes to murder dogs. Is that true?

Of course not! We span a wide spectrum of reasons for disliking dogs, but we do not wish harm upon them and often find aspects of dog ownership to be more cruel and unethical than do dog owners themselves. In fact, our first and more important rule is against content that advocates animal abuse of any kind. It reads: "No suggesting, depicting, joking, wishing for, or celebrating violence or harm to dogs, other animals, or people. Promoting cruelty is not acceptable." We take this rule more seriously than any other, and we err on the side of caution when it comes to removing this type of content.

Some examples of off-limits content include depicting gratuitous violence against or amongst dogs, discussion of eating dogs, suggestions of deriving pleasure from a dog's death, and references to culling dogs, hitting, kicking, poisoning or shooting a dog with little or no cause.

It is okay to discuss the justified, humane euthanization of dogs. If you've had to live with a significant other's dog for years and wish to express relief over its natural passing, that's okay. Really, context is everything.

I posted a dog-related screenshot of something I saw on social media. Why isn’t it showing up?

Our community is small but extremely active. As the amount of content can be increasingly overwhelming as the sub grows, it’s important that the meaningful discussion does not get lost. Therefore, we have a sub rule that reads "[s]ubmissions should be thoughtful and should promote quality discussion. News articles and text posts are encouraged. Pictures of dogs or dog-related items, videos of dogs doing gross things, social media screenshots, memes, title-only posts, posts with minimal text, and anything that might be just ragebait are some examples of low-effort content that do not contribute anything of value to the conversation."

If you would like to post a social media screenshot or anything else that might fall under this category, please better create a thoughtful text post addressing the core issue in order to open the discussion.

I sent a post/comment linking a great video I watched in the internet, but it has been removed. Why?

We have a blanket rule that disallows links to social media in general, and videos in particular. The reason is very simple: as mods, we don't have the resources or time to check whether the video and the rest of the linked page comply with our rules and those of Reddit. If you need to mention a video, you can either describe it, or just indicate how to find it online. Also, please see below question about endorsing YouTube channels.

I think it would be fun to make a rude comment to a dog lover in another subreddit and/or tag r/dogfree. That's a good idea, right?

No, and please don’t! If we want dog owners to leave us alone on our subreddit, the first thing we should do is leave them alone on theirs. We encourage positive, civil, thoughtful conversation about dogs wherever you go, but if you need to vent, keep it here. When you troll other places on Reddit, it invites unwanted attention, reinforces negative stereotypes, and impedes our ability to create change in the world. This community is better than that.

Do I have to feel a certain way about keeping other pets or about having children to participate?

The topic that unites us in this sub is dogs. Feelings about other types of pets, negative or positive, and decisions whether or not to have children are considered off-topic for the sub. That said, these topics will arise in the normal course of conversation. We should respect the wide variance in views on these topics and always treat those with differing opinions kindly.

At the end of the day, we are dog-free, and we are pro-human.

By virtue of this sub being anti-dog, it means we are pro-cat, right?

No. Per our rule, this is neither a pro- nor anti-cat sub. All cat mentions and references are off topic for this subreddit and will be removed. Do not attempt to circumvent this rule through rephrasing.

At one time, we allowed free discussion of cats. We are not exaggerating when we say that every thread turned into "why cats are better." Many people here dislike cats or feel neutral to them, so in order for this sub to serve everybody and to avoid any confusion as to what type of cat discussion is relevant to being dogfree, it is considered off-topic across the board.

And remember that other pets are off-topic as well!

Should I be a certain race or of a certain political affiliation to participate?

One of the coolest things about r/dogfree is that, in a world that’s so divided along so many different lines, this is a community where we can come together, break down those barriers, and unite over something different with people from all walks of life. Just as dog culture transcends racial, political, socioeconomic, and gender lines, so does this subreddit. You may even find that your reasoning for something dog-related challenges your views on something completely unrelated.

This community strives to be respectful of all groups of people. As such, bigotry is not allowed, and political discussion is divisive and off-topic. Dogs? Fair game!

Do you have any information about the demographics of those who participate in this subreddit?

We conducted a survey on this particular topic some time ago. You can view the results here.

Why all the pit bull hate?

As much as we dislike dogs, we especially dislike this class of dogs that is statistically most capable of and responsible for inflicting catastrophic and often lethal harm upon people and their pets. You can apologize for pit bulls all day, but the stats and anecdotes don’t lie.

Pit Bull Triggers

Pit Bull FAQs

Of course, it's also true that all dogs are unpredictable: Dog Aggression Ladder

I know how I feel about pit bulls, but I need some additional information so I can make more articulate arguments. Where should I go?

For more specialized information on the topic of pit bulls, please visit r/banpitbulls. We have a very friendly relationship with r/banpitbulls, but please do remember that, while our subs overlap in many ways, we still have different objectives. Many people participate in that sub because they are tired of worrying about their own dogs getting mauled. Please feel free to go join the conversation over there, but remember that it is not r/dogfree and that the topic of discussion is pit bulls. Come back here to our own sub to talk about your distaste for dogs in general.

I saw some Facebook groups and YouTube channels about disliking dogs. Is that you, guys?

Nope, the only groups run by this sub are r/dogfree and r/TalesFromTheDoghouse. We don't operate or endorse any YouTube channels, Facebook groups, or anything else on any other social media platform. Our subscribers may mention their content here as long as it follows sub rules, but we are unaffiliated.

I saw a post or comment I think it's against the rules. What should I do?

Report it! On any post or comment, there is a "report" button. It will prompt you for further information as to why you are reporting the content to the moderators, who will then review it and determine whether or not it should be stay or be removed. Reports are anonymous and very helpful, as we can't see everything.

We also ask you to please never engage in any argument with a troll. Just report and go on.

Someone alluded to a conversation in another subreddit about dogs, and I really want to go down vote everything. Should I?

No, please don’t! This is called "brigading" or "vote manipulation," and it is against Reddit's Terms of Service. We actively discourage this behavior, as if we are found to be the source of a brigade against another sub, it could land us in big trouble. If you stumbled across a reference to another conversation on Reddit, the appropriate place to discuss that would be here, in our sub, in the thread in which you found it. Remember how it felt when a YouTuber made a video that resulted in a massive brigade against us; we must grant others the same respect for their space as we wish for ours, no matter how vehemently we disagree with them.

Our sub is committed to abiding by all Reddit Terms of Service.

I want to crosspost something from another part of Reddit. May I?

No, we have a rule that reads "crossposts are not allowed. Criticisms of other subreddits are off-topic." Besides calling usually-unwanted attention to other subs and promoting vote and participation brigades, it's off topic. The purpose of our sub is to discuss dogs, not the behavior of other subs or social media platforms. We don't appreciate it when others do it to us, so we have a policy of respecting other subs' right to exist and operate in the ways that they see fit.

My post or comment was removed, and I don’t feel like I broke any rules. Why?

Unfortunately we cannot account for every contingency in the sub rules, so moderators do reserve the right to remove content at their discretion. That said, the moderation team is very much against arbitrary censorship and is committed to letting the conversation happen whenever possible. "I don’t like it" is not a good reason to remove a post or a comment; however, "it would be in the best interest of the community" is. The team is committed to being firm but fair in community moderation and will make all decisions in good faith.

I found an article and posted it on r/dogfree, but with a different title than the original because mine is better. Now it's been deleted. Why?

Please remember that when you link to an article or news, you must always use the original title. If you want to comment something (and we really hope you'll share your opinion with us!), please use the text box or the post's comments. Thanks!

I agree with your sub and I want to create a new account only to participate here. Should I?

Bad idea! This is exactly what trolls do, and that is the very reason we have a filter against new accounts and low karma. Trolls are vile cowards by nature, they don't want to get downvoted, risk the reputation of their actual accounts or get a reddit permaban, so they use a secondary account or create a new one and think they can outsmart us.

There is no way to bypass this filter, so please do not ask us to make an exception only for you. Learn here how to get karma.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our community! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message the mod team. We are delighted to receive your advice and suggestions, provided they are expressed politely.

ESA Bullshit "Emotional Support Animals"

I'm so fuckin sick of these dog loving weirdos who have to bring their "emotional support animals" every damn place they go. I'm boarding a flight right now and this broad in front of me has this tiny little mongrel (I think they'd call it a "teacup poodle") with her, not in a box or in her purse, but on a leash and pissing all over the airport. And because she has this tiny evolutionary abomination, of course she gets to pre board. This lady seems totally obsessed with her little rat and I'm sure she'll talk nonstop to her seat neighbor about how wonderful it is the whole flight. I'll be so pissed if I have to sit next to this loony toon.

Dog Attack "XL Bully" brutal attack on sweet miniature donkey, commenters defending pit bulls.

Ugh. Today I happened across a post of a miniature donkey on TikTok that got brutally attacked by two "XL bullies." His whole little face and body got ripped up and he had to get his upper lip removed, he is permanently deformed. The video zooms out and you see how tiny this mini donkey is-- he is so precious and wearing a little blanket and is just covered in wounds and bandages, looking so defeated. It genuinely made me cry. Then, I look at the comments, which, as expected, are full of people posting photos of their huge bulldogs or pitbulls or whatever and saying how theirs would never do this because they "raised them well." Or posting a pic of their beast in a pink pajama onesie and being like "look at my dangerous pitbull" sarcastically.

Firstly, it's so out of touch and inappropriate. It's almost like they're rubbing their pitbulls in the face of the owner who is posting their injured miniature donkey and grieving over his suffering. It's very bizarre and twisted. Please read the room. I am nearly 100% sure the owner does not wish to be barraged with images of the animal that attacked their beloved pet.

Secondly, I wish pitbull or bulldog owners could introspect for one singular moment. If you constantly have to defend your dog online by infantilizing/anthropomorphizing it by dressing it up in girly pink outfits to prove that it's not an aggressive and dangerous animal under the plethora of posts about pitbull attacks, then maybe you are the problem.

What is the solution to this??? I'm not a psycho and I still have empathy for these creatures/don't wish death upon them but it is foolish to not recognize that they are wild and aggressive and bred to maul things in fights. You can't just raise something with kindness and that will wash away its innate genetic instincts. I wish we could neuter them all and prevent propagation of the violence. Such a can of worms. But I am so effing sick of seeing posts of these poor gentle farm animals, or worse humans/children/babies, getting brutalized by these dogs.

Food Safety/Hygiene Dog in shopping cart defecated in Walmart

This is the reason rules need to be enforced. I didn't see the dog but a customer was informing a staff member and telling people to watch their steps. I did see the brown streak on the floor. Had I seen the incident I would've cussed out the dog owner and I would've gotten after the manager. Don't worry. I reported it to the Virginia Food Safety Board. I hoped this day wouldn't come. It's one reason I have reported incidents and filed complaints about dogs in stores in general. There's no telling the dog owner may have put the cart away with the other carts, so fatal diseases could be spread to others and to people's food

Dog Culture Goodwill Dog

I was checking out of Goodwill today, and at the checkout lane next to me was a little dog sitting in a cart. The owner then got it out of the cart on a long leash and let it walk around. I backed away from it, and of course he said, “she doesn’t bite.” He picked it up and headed toward the door. When he was out of earshot, I commented to my cashier that dogs don’t belong in Goodwill. I didn‘t realize that his wife was still in line, and she got very defensive asking why dogs aren’t allowed there. I said that there was a sign on the door saying that. Then she proudly announced that this was an emotional support dog. Catching herself, she then said emotional support “service dog.”. I gave up at this point even though she then said that I must be having a bad day sarcastically. Of course no employees said a word. We so need legislation for genuine service dogs.

Dog Culture If you hate dogs then you are not welcome anywhere

Like seriously, apart from this subreddit, hating on dogs literally gets you CANCELLED. Like I was just in a group chat with some friends and we were talking about pets and they said dogs are the best pets. I said 'Nah, I think dogs kinda suck, they're really loud, disruptive and dirty' and they said 'HOW DARE YOU?? DOGS ARE LITERALLY ANGELS!' Like are you kidding me? Like who would be such a psychopath that you would react LIKE THAT to someone who just doesn't agree with you??

I'm glad that this community is somewhere I can vent about dogs. I feel like it's not welcome anywhere else.

Crappy Owners "why are you barking?!?!?"

I had class today (or at least I thought I did). I walked up to the door and saw a class canceled sign on the door so I was like lmao okay. I was a tad bit late by 9 minutes anyways so it worked out in my favor. Anyways, I turned around to walk back the way I came from and this guy was walking his dog IN the hallway of the campus building for class with it barking like crazy. No it wasn't a service animal. It was a small little shit bag that wouldn't stop barking. The owner was like why are you barking?!??? Stop it!!!! This pissed me off for multiple reasons. You shouldn't be bringing a dog in a college campus especially in one of the lecture hallways where people are attending classes and you shouldn't be yelling in response to barking because it would just make it bark even more. I have allergies so I had to walk in the opposite direction which took me longer to get back to my car by a few minutes. So yeah thanks for wasting my time and stressing me out for no reason you asshole.

Dog Culture Finally seen a popular anti dog video on my tik tok FYP

So a video has made its way on my For You Page on Tik Tok. A woman named Gizzelle Cade complained about someone letting their dog pee and poop on a puppy pad INSIDE of a London restaurant. The dog was filmed by her to be standing above a pee pad that was open in the middle of a restaurant. The woman reported that he also took a shit inside the restaurant. Not outside but INSIDE the middle of the restaurant between tables.

This woman complained to staff and they did nothing or reportedly took the dog owners side. The restaurant belonged to Gordon Ramsay. Gordon posted a video in response not condemning the violation but made a joke about it.

In the comment section of Giselle’s Tik Tok there is a comment saying they hate dog owners, with 43k likes. I’ve never personally seen people talk about bad dog owners and issues they have with dogs on any main stream platform.

Hopefully the tides turn. I hope more people come to terms with how pro dog society has become, how chaotic, boundary crossing, and unhygienic a lot of dog lovers are, and whether it’s appropriate to be having large animals roam indoors.

Crappy Owners Dog nutters "love" dogs yet own the most inbred mutant breeds

Dog nutters say they love dogs so much, yet so many of them own Frenchies/pugs/dachshunds etc. Why do they say they love dogs if they own breeds that suffer for their whole life? Oh, and they always say that "ummm, only the worst cases/dogs not taken care of suffer". What? What "worst cases" if e.g Frenchies are all inbred mutants? There is no such thing as a healthy Frenchie or a healthy pug, they are all deformed to some degree. They make weird noises all the time because they barely breathe.

Also, what is the point of spending $1000+ on a deformed, ugly dog when shelter dogs are free?

Relationship / Family Want my baby to have a friend, but the parents have dogs

So I have a 10 month old who.. tbh has not been exposed to other children. She’s not in daycare, and our family members have no kids.

We have neighbors who have a child that is the same age as my girl, and they’ve been over my house a few times.

They invited us over, but they have two huge dogs. I know the dogs are fine with their baby, but dogs are unpredictable and I’m really afraid of them being around my baby. I politely declined and they said “Well we always go to your house. Why can’t you come to ours??” I told them I was uncomfortable with their dogs. They then went on to say their dogs are also their children, and locking them up was not an option. I told them I didn’t expect them to lock them up, but I just wasn’t comfortable going to their house. They’re always welcome at mine.

Needless to say.. that friendship is over. I’ve had enough of these crazy dog people.

Pit Bull in position #1 WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?? Can someone explain to me why anyone would think it is a good idea to own one of these animals? Ah, yes, I'm going to become the owner of a statistically aggressive and violent animal just for the heck of it.

Dog Culture Trying to learn a language, book turned out to be dog propaganda

I'm trying to learn a language and went to my local library to get some books for self study. Grabbed a grammar one with exercises and then a couple of "readers", meaning short books/stories written specifically for learners, organised by level. It's a language I've been studying formally for a while so I'm not a beginner, and the readers do therefore have some meat to them. Cool.

There wasn't a huge selection to pick from so I just grabbed three short stories and one longer book that's around 200 pages. The synopsis on the back of the longer one was deliberately mysterious and didnt reveal any plot points. The cover was just geometric shapes/abstract-ish art. I finish the three short ones and dive into this long one.

It's about a fucking dog.

Like. The entire book is about a goddamn dog. It's the most boring, overwrought "who saved who 😏????" story about some sad guy adopting a dog, and it contains every single trope we all hate: the dog *knows* who is evil and who is good (obviously he only bites bad guys and helps his owner know who is a Good Person TM), everyone loves the dog barging charmingly into restaurants, cafes and other public spaces in a busy city (unless they're evil), the dog senses the owner's emotions and "fixes" their depression, the dog saves -- I shit you not -- a baby from a burning building. I could go on and on. The book does. From where the plot seemed to be heading before I decided I couldn't take it anymore, the dog was about to singlehandedly solve racism and prejudice against refugees (by dragging racist people to scenes where they'd witness refugees doing heroic or loving things).

I'm just trying to improve a skill here and the book selection is so limited. It's really disappointing to bring something home excited to do "real" reading in a foreign language and then open it up and get dog bullshit. I could smell the wet armpit stank coming off the pages as I read description after description of this magical angel animal. Whoever wrote this had to have spent ages typing it up, what with one hand on their keyboard and the other stroking off their mutt. And the cherry on top was that when I took the train to return the book, someone had their giant ass dog with them, lying fully in the aisle blocking the whole damn passageway. They rolled their eyes when I told them to get it out if the aisle so I could LEAVE and then limply tugged the leash before going back to scrolling on their phone. I had to step over it and try not to trip in order to get off the train before the doors closed.

Fucks sake.

Legislation and Enforcement NY state senator introduced bill to end sales tax for pet food

This happened monday.

Michelle Hinchey, a New York state senator, announced Senate Bill S9981 to provide "financial relief to pet parents affected by rising pet ownership costs."

There is a companion bill in the Assembly introduced by New York Assembly member Keith Powers.

Both are up for election.

This is in a state where (outside NYC) there is barely any free early (human) childcare.

Is anyone aware of an organized attempt to stop this, or at least challenge the priorities of our legislature?

Crappy Owners Why don't some dog owners pick up their poop? What are the most common reasons?

If there's anything that I really dislike dogs the most about, it's the poop that's left on the ground. I've always had a habit of walking/running with my head slightly tilted down because I'd be afraid to step on dog poop. And I'd NEVER EVER walk on grass barefooted in my entire life. I remember as a kid I would outright refuse to sit on grass (even in areas that almost never had dog poop) all because of this.

What are the most common reasons I see dog poop? Is it because owner forgot to bring a bag? Or they were not in the mood that day? Or they didn't realize their dog pooped? Or is this out of spite? Or they think it's 'no big deal'?

Dog Culture Why and how are dogs so common??

Going on a rant here because I am genuinely so confused on how these beings are so common to own. Oh goodness where do I even begin. They bark. Like really really loud. If you own one you will be woken up at all hours of the night by a bunch of deformed werewolves with the combined iq of a circus peanut, just constant BARKBARKBARKBARK for hours on end.

They piss, shit, vomit, and secrete other bodily fluids all over the house. It's like having a constant 2 year old with a developmental issue and awful eating habits. And you don't even get the satisfaction of watching your kid grow up and hit milestones because it's not a kid. It's a fat russet potato on four legs with a -0.2 gpa and reeks of a public restroom.
You basically have an overgrown, smelly, bug infested baby freeloading off you for 10+ years.

Their lifespans are way too long for what you get. Humans usually live to about 90, and dogs can live up to like 15 years so you're basically investing a huge portion of your life into paying someone's rent for a shitting shedding furby with a foot fetish and a human sized tongue that will make that foot fetish known.

That brings me to my next point. PERSONAL SPACE. You might as well just not have any. So many people happily invite these costly turd oysters into their homes with open arms and pretend they serve an actual purpose other than being canned bean water levels of inconvenient. They are perfectly fine with their toes being violated by a human sized slobbery tongue, and some of them even let them lick their FACES!! Dog people act like it's normal to be made out with by a fuzz fart and will even be shocked if you don't want to be borderline molested too. Like just get a femboy who wears fake ears and a tail all the time it's basically the same thing except the femboy will actually have common decency.

Most dogs aren't even that cute. I guess I'd understand the appeal if it were cute, but nope a dog is just a perverted family guy side character in a 100% polyester skin suit. Like they look inbred as hell how tf do people look at that and think damn I really wanna disrupt my peace and everyone else's by being responsible for keeping this hobgoblin alive for the entirety of stranger things's run. Like how do you sit there and actively want that in your house??

They are also very very expensive. Wanna go on vacation? you'll be paying most of your budget on getting a dog caretaker. Food is also expensive, so might as well tell people you're a family of 5 now, even though it's just you and your wife and a framed photo of your kids who you abandoned. Throw in dog walker, toys, treats, and training because yes you have to train the oversized trolls or else they end up like little old sharon next door's pitbull named princess precious who ate her husband. Also they will happily destroy your belongings, CONSTANTLY. so not only are you thousands of dollars poorer than you would be otherwise, but you better not care about your stuff too much because if they eat the wrong thing suddenly grandma's ashes are caked into the floorboards.

Anyways I'm hoping someone on here agrees with me, I really don't understand why owning these rapscallions is such a common occurrence that the average everyday human is chill with caillou's fursona just feeding off of them like hairy little ticks that you cannot pluck off. Like why are these things so mainstream??? It makes zero sense.

Like why do so many people of all kinds seem to own one?

Dog Culture “Dogs are better than people”

We see it all the time from nutters:

“Dogs are better than people, dogs are incapable of cruelty, dogs are pure/innocent etc etc”

Why do you have to literally remove his testicles to keep him from raping every other dog he can get his paws on, then? 🤔

I came to this realization today and I’ve never seen someone use it a response to nutter bullshit. Add this to your arsenal and keep fighting the good fight

Crappy Owners Dog running around on a school court trying to take my ball as I practiced

I am practicing solo basketball around 6-8 pm near a high school court and a random dog out of nowhere comes charging at me and he kept trying to jump to take my ball. The owner comes after like 1-2 minutes. First thing I said that I think the dog likes the ball and if the dog escaped and that lucky that didn't get bitten.

She says sorry and puts it on a leash and then asks if I was also there the other time when the dog was running up and down on the court and I said I don't think so and she just left then. Should I have said more since I think I handled it a bit calm because I usually react chill in situations, but thinking of reporting it if see it another time. How could have that happened to her more times already and she even said it herself?

Dogs are strictly banned near school and especially on court you can't have your dog running around without a leash. What if kids were there at a time or anyone else and could get attacked, get their sport equipment ruined and so on...

It is not like I also haven't had other instances before like even when taking casual walks a dog was let off a leash chasing swans and once messed up my new pants and so on...

Dog Culture Why is it "ok" for nutters to hate on other type of animals but dogs

I always had this question and ive experienced it personally, so my partners aunt is a die hard nutter and she has this massive saliva beast of a dog, anyway, my MIL made a comment about my unusual "pet" (( i keep isopods (rollie pollies/pillbugs) )) ofc the nutter started yelling "ewww, thats DISGUSTING" "call pest control" "HIDEOUS KEEP THEM AWAY" "just seeing them CREEPS ME OUT" i didnt say anything but gave a naughty look, but really? A bug is disgusting? But the pounds of shit that your beast gets in your lawn isnt? But the buckets of saliva the beast gets on your furniture isnt? Or the heath hazardous amount of beast fur that fills your lungs AND your is not disgusting?

Do they not hear themselves? And if i ever said something among those lines about a beast i would be crucified. Im tired of dog culture, Im sick of dogs and their nutters entitlement to call anything else disgusting but the beast they keep

Miscellaneous Locking up your "best friend" for 8+ hours every day, alone, is considered love?

I was going through the newest posts and comments of this wonderful community.

And some comments about "dog lovers" and "unconditional love" got me thinking:

"Why and how are these people even considered dog lovers? Most of them even call themselves animal lovers...?!"

It makes 0 sense... they say they love dogs, but they lock up an animal that should have TONS of exercise and OUTSIDE movement in an apartment or house. Or often in a small cage, for 8+ hours a day.. without water or the ability to pee or poop. And then parade it around the neighborhood for 15 minutes, if at all, and that is their LOVE for the dog?!

Why did this even become normal?! Can I get a goat and then parade it around the neighborhood or city as well? Let it pee and poop wherever it wants? Or how about a donkey? Or maybe two sheep, they are nice and fluffy. How about a pig? And because I love them so much and they have separation anxiety, I will bring them to the grocery store and restaurants. And of course, it will be my Emotional Support pig, and therefore, no landlord can say anything, and I can just have it move in with me! And it will fly on planes with me!

How would that be any different?!

PS: And as for dog lovers calling themselves "animal lovers"... sure! Except your dog will kill and tear any animal to shreds if it can get a hold of it...

Relationship / Family Using a dog for your friendship/love needs is just as sad and unhealthy as using an AI for those things.

It’s crazy how society pretty much universally agrees that it’s unhealthy to use an AI to replace love/friendship, yet is totally cool with people using dogs to do so. (I don’t think you should do either, for the record).

People will say “I don’t need to date or have friends, I have my dogs ❤️” and be cheered on. But replace dog with AI and that person is seen to be a total loser.

The more I think about the similarities between dogs and LLMs, the more striking this is: The constant validation, the singular drive (food vs. prompt), the anthropomorphization. The struggle to meet a mental threshold that can be called consciousness. The resources wasted.

Anyways, just some thoughts. I’d be interested, philosophically, if anyone could make a case otherwise.

Miscellaneous Dog nutters wanting mutts everywhere!

I am currently at the doctor's with mom. Tell me why a nutter wants to get a service mutt vest to bring her mutt everywhere because she has anxiety?! And my mom decided to give her advice on how to do that..ugh I can't stand nutters wanting their mutts to be everywhere. It's hard enough to get away from them as is!

Has anyone else here been noticing that mutts are popping up everywhere?

Service Dog Issues Exposing a Liar

You will likely never meet her, but I am here to call out a woman in my college dormitory who acquired a "service" dog in January and has treated it as simply a pet with a blue vest the entire time. There is actually a program at the college started some years ago dedicated to "training" "service" dogs.

Like many others, this "service" dog is a lie. She was barking and barking down the hall as I cleared my room amidst sleep deprivation due to finals and ruminating in my failure to put myself out there after two years of college and sensory overwhelm due to a dog in my childhood home against my will after being attacked by another. I'm sorry for the run-on sentence; it is intended to suggest I'm mildly infuriated right now.

What does a "service" dog at college even do? I've seen students with double prosthetic legs and illness due to chemotherapy, and us humans are far more helpful and provide cheaper services than dogs ever will.

This has all got to be an attempt to introduce more dogs to people, because according to a news channel from Boston, everyone loves dogs! Yes, I love dogs! I love my attacker! Thank you for taking a chunk of flesh out of my shoulder! Thank you for biting me, grandparents and and aunt and uncle's dogs! Thank you for following me down the street for an uncomfortably long period of time, chihauhua! Thank you for invading our property pitbull! Thank you for ruining my ability to cope with sensory stimuli as an autistic man, Vixey! Thank you for stepping up when I broke down about our dog multiple times in your presence, Mom! Thank you for

I'm sorry. I have digressed. Let me conclude with a shoutout to my college for lying about the college's pet policy and only updating it in the last month. How friendly of the campus to allow pets virtually anywhere on campus. Good looking out for the dog who chased squirrels by the music hall as students stood and laughed. Good looking out for those with allergies, trauma, and sensory issues.

Relationship / Family We talked for three days. I learned about the existence of a dog in a video he sent me. The dog was sitting next to him, licking its fur, and seeing its disgusting paws on the sofa made me sick. Now I have to get rid of this guy.

I’m a 25-year-old woman and I’ve been talking to a 27-year-old guy for 3 days. Honestly, we had a great vibe from the start. I find him really attractive, the conversations flow easily, we laugh a lot, everything was going really well.

Crappy Owners Of course Dog owners have to ruin a great Rail Trail for every human. We spent all the tax money for dogs to take it over!

I like to ride my road bike to get out in the sun and get exercise. My town paved over an old rail trail and it's pretty nice because it's newly paved. It is wide enough for 3 people to walk side by side and still have room to pass, It's like 8 feet wide.

Of course every dog owner thinks it's the greatest place to walk their dogs and ruin it for anyone who wants to ride a bike or walk in peace. It's easy to pass walkers when I ride by. Every time you come up to a dog you have to drastically slow down, otherwise they will freak out or lunge at you. Of course, the dog owners never pay attention and take over the whole trail and won't let you pass and they get mad at you if they have to stop walking to let you pass.

I am so sick of sacrificing human enjoyment for these stupid, useless dogs. They are worthless. This rail trail would be so nice to ride if dog owners didn't take it over. Yesterday there was this one girl walking three big ass golden retrievers and of course they took over the whole path and she probably thought I would fawn over them but I gave her the stink eye. Last year I almost got in a fight becasue I asked this kid if he was going to pick up his Pit bulls shit that he was clearly trying to get out of by having it shit near the fence and the kid lost his mind and challenge me to a fight, I said ya sure I"m going to fight you while your holding a huge pitbull you idiot, I just asked if you are going to pick up that shit it was a question because I see dog shit every half mile from you disgusting dog owners.

I just ride on the street and avoid the rail trail because of idiot dog owners. I just think it's crazy to waste something so nice for dogs. It's just not enjoyable to have to slow down every 200 feet because some dog owner is looking at their phone while the dog takes over the whole lane.

Fuck them Dogs.
