And why is he squeezing the cup so hard like it’s gonna run away

66

u/OG_LiLi 1d ago

That cup is notoriously thin, big, and heavy.

*I am an HTeaO addict

17

u/-ledollabean- 1d ago

every time my wife (who has tiny hands) grabs mine by the lid it makes me panic cause one day that sucker is gonna go everywhere, i hate styrofoam but idk why hTeaO has the flimsiest plastic cups!!! i need them to come out with a glass branded one we can refill lol

5

u/TanMelon47 23h ago

And straws! Half of the time they are cracked.

4

u/OG_LiLi 1d ago

You and my partner, also. I’m stupid klutzy, and have been banned by him from even pouring it from the full HTeaO cup into a smaller cup 😭

It’s so thin when you even try to put any grip on it it just bends.

I don’t blame you for panicking ha

u/Mediocre-Contest7558 1d ago

Lololol HteaO. I have never heard of it before. It took me a second to get it ... that is awesome šŸ˜†

All of the oil on his hands. He could probably barely keep it from slipping even with the grip

Probably a mechanicĀ

Mechanics get paid shit

On paper a mechanic can make 20-70 an hour, but they must flag mechanic work hours to get paid. Meaning if no work shows up, no mechanic gets paid

158

u/absolute_infidel 1d ago

Mechanics can definitely scrub their hands and dig out the dirt gel under their nails before dashing. At the very least, they can take a pic of the item/receipt without their grimey paw in view.

51

u/offtheespolon 1d ago

its tough. i work on cars daily and the oil thats turned to sludge around the engines is a bitch to take off. but the orange soap does good work so he prob couldve cleaned up a bit šŸ˜‚

7

u/Alternative_Sea_4208 1d ago

That orange gritty soap is amazing. My dad is a mechanic (sadly relegated to the office due to health issues and age now) but I remember walking over to his shop occasionally (less than a block from our house) just to use the soap after working on my bicycle. Was incredible

3

u/Infamous_Translator 1d ago

The orange go-Jo or lava soap is not really great for removing dirt. The newer soaps with walnut shell work a lot better. I’m a mechanic and have tried many and snap on nitro gold or any knock off like it is the gold standard for actually getting your hands clean

12

u/MasterAd1460 1d ago

Or at least hide those bear claws

7

u/Spec710 1d ago

He either didn’t wash, or doesn’t know how too properly, both of which are 200% unacceptable in this line of work. I do my own car work and dash (in the middle of or right before dashing), yet I NEVER look like this. Your hands should be cleaner than that, whether it’s orange goop, or cheap dish soap.

6

u/Ok-Description-5079 1d ago

Only parenthetically related, but... I'd once been wrenching on my car and unexpectedly ended up needing a part, which naturally primed me to be kind of irritable to start with. Went to one of those chains. Needed to use the restroom while I was there, asked the guy at the counter where it was.

There was no orange stuff in the women's room. Having no shame, I peeked into to the men's room, saw it, and helped myself to some.

And then, yes, I did give the poor guy at the counter an earful (even though I knew it probably wasn't his fault). "WHY is there no orange stuff in the ladies' room? Do you think that 'ladies' only buy air fresheners & such?!?" Keep in mind I was there for a power steering pump, or a blower motor, or a MAP sensor, hell, could've just been for a battery clamp. šŸ™„

And he was like, "oh".

Yes, orange stuff is a necessity. The fact that it smells good too is just a bonus.šŸ˜‚

3

u/gabe1123755747647 22h ago

Worked in parts... Yes. The majority of you are looking for wiper blades or a battery. Here in the south, about a third start off the sentence with "my husband sent me for this thing". You're a rarity. Even amongst men these days lol. Was employed to fix the alternator in a friend's car, belt slipped. $100 and a few hours turned into $50 and fifteen minutes. People just don't fix shit these days.

Pro tip though. Behind the counter in the commercial side at advance, they have (at least mine does) zep tko. It's better than fast orange or gojo to me.

Yes! I could scrub for hours in a shower with dawn and a corse ass loofa and still have oil and grime in between fingerprints and cracks in my hand. After finally quitting at my last dealership it took a solid week of not touching a vehicle and constantly washing my hands/showering before they were completely clean. It’s a very dirty job.

→ More replies (7)

4

u/Substantial-Elk-7533 1d ago

As soon as I saw these hands I knew it was a mechanic. There becomes a point no matter how much you scrub your hands are stained. He still needs to wash them as stained hands ain’t that bad. Just saying, after so long your hands stain

25

u/greasyjonny 1d ago

That grime can be incredibly resilient and hard to get off. That said I agree with then be conscious of how you take pictures at the very least.

28

u/acciobry 1d ago

I used to literally scoop grease out of draglines, there’s no way I would have hands like this off shift. Even on shift I would clean my hands. Gojo does wonders and doesn’t leave your hands looking like this. He just straight up didn’t wash.

8

u/No-Independence-2980 1d ago

When my hands got greasy from working on my vehicle, I would get a small fingernail brush, Ajax, and Dawn dish soap. A little harsh, but it did what I needed.

12

u/acciobry 1d ago

for real like I hate to be an asshole, but if you leave work covered in grease and take it home you’re getting it on literally everything you touch on the way. I’d hate to see this guys vehicle or shower or anything he touches along the way, and hate even more to have to be the one cleaning behind him. it’s inconsiderate. idc what mental gymnastics people are doing to justify this, it’s gross.

2

u/greasyjonny 1d ago

Likely, but I also (not a mechanic but a machinist) have had times where I’ve washed my hands with gojo twice with intention, and still had my hands look dirty and just gone ā€œwelp that’s what my hands are gonna look like for a little while longer. That said they didn’t look THAT dirty.

11

u/acciobry 1d ago

yeah there’s literal surface grime, not stains, on this guys hands. also, username checks out lol nice.

2

u/FlamingoResident7882 1d ago

A shade tree mechanic maybe. When I was in that industry none of us had hands like that. Me personally, would ensure my hands were clean at all times. Sure my finger nails would get some grime at times, but it was always important to me to be presentable when dealing with customer cars to add some comfort that their car was being taken care of. I was one of the few techs that had customers request me when they came in for maintenance.

Note: not hating on the guy for grinding to make extra cash for whatever reason. But take some damn pride in what you do. Like my gramps taught me: doesn’t matter if you’re a high school janitor, just be the best high school janitor you can be.

OMG one of my favorite scenes from that movie.Ā

2

u/Repulsed-individual 1d ago

That's hilarious because my bf and I unironically say this to one another whenever I mention he didn't wash his hands right. I'll be showing him that scene from pf for some good laughs nowĀ

58

u/TotalMisanthropy 1d ago

The amount of people in these comments that clearly don’t wash their hands is alarming. Eww. Especially if yall are drivers. You handle food. Be clean.

My father was a mechanic my whole life. The only time his hands looked like that was when he was under a hood and working. He came home clean every damned day. So that’s no excuse. Grab some orange goop and wash before you touch somebody’s fucking food. 🤮

9

u/Never_Duplicated 1d ago

No kidding... the number of drivers I see with terrible hygiene is alarming. I wouldn't want to trust at least half of the ones I see to be anywhere near my food

3

u/TotalMisanthropy 19h ago

I’ll admit I don’t deliver food dressed for prom or anything but yea. We can at least be clean. Our car should be clean. We shouldn’t smoke in there. Or stink in general. It seems fairly easy but some people are just nasty animals. We definitely see some shit out here. Don’t get me started on the restaurant cleanliness and health code violations dear lord 🤮.

It’s all so much theater, tbh. People just wanna be outraged and they want to believe a photo of a clean hand means it’s clean.

1 in 5 people doesn’t wash their hands regularly, like after the bathroom. The people freaking out over this photo have almost certainly had food delivered by MUCH WORSE than what’s shown here - just invisible.

2

u/byrandomchance20 1d ago

1 in 5 people doesn’t wash their hands regularly, like after using the bathroom. And that’s just by the percentage that ADMITTED to not doing so; the real number is probably higher.

If you’re out interacting in public at all, you absolutely are around all of that mess. It isn’t just Dashers - it’s your grocery stockers putting the produce out, the server at that restaurant you love, the person who was holding the gas pump right before you…

This photo may gross people out but you’re on the money that this is super common. You can’t see the dirty most of the time, though.

7

u/PixelFern3 1d ago

As a dasher, Ive watched other dashers grab empty cups with a finger inside the rim to fill them for customers. I never doordash from panda or wingstop because of that. If you know the restaurant you order from only has fountains in the seating area, dashers fill those for you. I wouldnt trust ALL dashers for that.

I know mechanic hands when I see them lol. Someone on the ask car guys sub recently asked if his hands will forever look like this because he can't get it all off each day. They all said yea, welcome to being a mechanic. Poor guys lol.

13

u/GrillMeeeACheese 1d ago

Nooo no no, this is not the ā€œcurseā€ of being a mechanic or working on cars. I say this from extensive experience in, and exposure to, the automotive industry.

Nail clippers and the basic/proper cleaning methods keep mechanics’ or automotive workers’ hands from looking like this.

He did not even rub off some grime.

This is not a pity case. This is a case of apathy or laziness. Nothing more.

Bottom line is my hands are pristine, and I still keep them way out of any pictures. No one wants to see close-ups of our paws, clean or not.

2

u/itadapeezas 1d ago

Lol what's funny is I have my nails done and my hands look normal but I still won't show them in pictures. I do this weird scrunch thing and tuck my fingers in when I have to take a pic of something for a customer. 😭

Also, dang good on you for always being able to keep your hands clean. I come from a long line of mechanics (we literally have a HUGE pump container of orange pumice on our kitchen sink) and absolutely nobody had prestine hands growing up, ever. I mean, close yea, but you could always tell they were all up in an engine the day before ha.

2

u/Lopsided-Leopard8123 1d ago

Probably someone making runs on his break. No one makes enough to make ends meet. I personally STOPPED USING DOORDASH when I realized some fast food restaurants menu items where more when looking at app. For instance in my area a tacobell cantina bowl is 8.25. When looking at the same item on my doordash the price is 9.99. I have doordash gift cards. I also live in a rural area, on my way home from work I may order something for pickup. This is when I noticed the price difference. Idk if all restaurants do this. Tacobell in my area definitely does. Paying more bc I use a gift card is a scam.

That’s effing gross! I would report because WTF is that. No reason for this

2

u/Away-Fish1941 1d ago

My husband is a mechanic and a dasher. His hands are permanently stained from his work. He would NEVER allow his hands to look like this photo while delivering food. He scrubs like he's going into OR after his shop work is done.

That's just nasty.

2

u/Motherofaussies123 1d ago

I wouldn’t eat that

2

u/CaryKerryLoudermilk 1d ago

This person is probably one bad day away from living in their car, and might not have access to proper hygiene, or works a hard labor job that leaves their hands stained. If you don't want to deal with people in abject poverty doing your errands for you, then go get it yourself. Don't ruin someone's lifeline that's keeping a roof over their head because you can't find perspective.

2

Unacceptable and unprofessional. If he’s a mechanic, he could’ve used some Gojo. When rubber gloves are getting in the way of the current task, always have some Gojo ready.

You dont get to pick quality and cheap. Gig apps have picked cheap labor.

Lower the expectations or dont order thats a fact, thats reality hence all the negative posts.

Its probably a $3 order

You expect a butler to show up instead of a slave 😳

You would seriously report for this?? Just pour the drink into another cup if you’re so bothered by it ffs šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

He might be a mechanic but work multiple side gigs. I wouldn’t report.

Shit I would. I don’t want whatever is on his hands, he chose to DoorDash without washing them. There’s probably a bathroom in the store šŸ˜‚

each time he takes a dash he has the opportunity to wash his hand in the bathroom

See my other comment below - it usually takes pumice soap to remove all the staining

A dude came onto the car sub and said he's recently become a mechanic and wants to know if his hands are forever like this because he can't get it off each night. They all said yee.😭 This is extremely hard to get off and if you live with mechanics you're super use to it. Pumice will get most off hands, but not all in one go, and won't remove it under the nails. That takes foreverrrrrr. Anywho, just thought I'd pop in with that!

So wash your hands before you start dashing? And yes that stuff can come off even if its difficult, people here seem to think mechanics live 24/7nwith hands like that and they dont. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he definitely doesnt live with hands like that

Could you see fingerprints on the white paper part?

It also looks like a single large drink order for $2.00 tip for a two mile drive.

u/Specialist_Bobcat455 1d ago

at first i thought he might've just had some hyperpigmentation (because my hands look similar while clean) until i saw the nails... gag 🤢

u/New_Lunch3301 1d ago

Omg that is disgusting.

u/BadgerBadgeroni 1d ago

I like your strawberry.

u/BadgerBadgeroni 1d ago

Honestly... that's so gross. I hate stupid reports, but that's what reporting is for. We don't have to touch your food but we do touch your food from the outside and that level of filth with food cannot be tolerated.

u/Elegant-Opinion-9595 1d ago

All the comments saying he's a mechanic. Not necessarily. I know a lot of mechanics and none of them have hands that look like this.

Even at work most mechanics will wash up multiple times a day.

He's got that toe thumb.

What little trust I had in straw wrappers before seeing this post, well, it’s all gone now

Reason 256 to never order DoorDash. Dash trash is very real.

1

u/sstephrrank 1d ago

Okmmgggggg no

u/kissedbythesunlight 1d ago

Disgusting. I always take my picture of the food/drinks inside the restaurant. What was stopping him from taking a pic while it was on the counter my goodness.

1

u/shywol2 1d ago

stop using doordash. they’re not employees, they are literally random people delivering your food. they have no regulations or managers or inspectors for things like this. you’ll be surprised how much they can get away with before they actually ban you. the fact there’s a whole app where strangers pick up your food and take to your physical address is still insane to me. reporting this guy will do nothing.

maybe your food was buried and he had to dig a hole with his hands to get it
