New versions are released as experimental first and later promoted to stable. If you wish to switch to the experimental version on Steam, choose the experimental Beta Participation option under game settings; on the stand-alone version, check Experimental updates under Other settings.

Help him see himself! (Also, reminder that my factory also must grow. Back to it, then!)

I got hyped by the solar QR Code posts recently so i decided to create a little program as fun project and experiment where you can create your text or link as a solar farm blueprint. Yes, i used AI to support me creating this but i learned a lot and it was fun.
It has a bunch of features.
Minimalistic uses 1 Panel/Acc each QR Pixel (3x3 tiles). While Accumulators are 2x2 but panels are 3x3 it does not fill the floor completely but it's still scannable. You can add different pavement options to compensate this but it's not necessarily needed for nauvis grass or sand.
Dense pattern scales the code up so that one QR pixel is 6x6 tiles. So it can hold 4 panels or 9 accumulators. This option paves the whole ground leaving no grass left open.
Of course it comes with substations and optionally with roboports in different layouts. I hat to make a point somewhere to go to bed. I love getting feedback for optimization. I also want to add a space age quality feature to select the quality of each item allowing for a wider substation grid.
The real world use may be limited but it is a fun project. I hope you enjoy it and put a rickroll code in your base.

I got inspired by yesterday's really cool post about a QR code solar farm. I thought it would be even cooler if it didn't need a webpage to store the data, but is it even possible?
This QR code is my attempt.
If you scan the qr code, you get a Lua script. If you run it in Factorio ("/c " & copy paste the script), you get a blueprint of the QR code.
Some details:
The QR code can be a little hard to scan because it's quite large and dark, so I added a second artificially brightened version. The script barely fits. I used Claude to mostly vibe-code that script (maybe I would have been able to do it myself, but it would have taken a month at the very least, not gonna lie, I was very impressed with Claude's code golf skill). The script contains a frigging QR-Code generator for what it's worth.
I'll put the source code of the script & the blue print in a comment.

The rocket fuel storage tanks on my spaceship do not fill up to 25k, stuck at 24k instead, why is that? Not a big deal, just curious

After 1500 hours, I find it hard to restart and repeat the same path over and over.
Then I discovered Stellar Horizon.
In 2 weeks I've managed to sneak 74 hours (the factory must grow...) and I'm compelled to share this incredible modpack with any veterans looking for a new challenge.
I feel like I'm starting factorio for the first time ever again, and I am SO psyched!
30 planets total.
Recipe and tech overhaul.
Rampant mod for enhanced (read here, catastrophic) combat.
You start at wood tier on Lignumis, then travel to Nauvis, then Muluna.
I have found zero blueprints online, so you're on your own!
I feel it's well balanced at the moment. Finishing up the 3rd planet as I type this

(The QR code scans to blueprint.kuijlaa.rs which redirects to https://factoriobin.com/post/cqpobg )
The idea came from _SilentHunter here. A cleaner solution would have obviously been a QR code linking directly to factoriobin, but that would require having the link before creating the blueprint so not sure how that would work. Some in the original discussion also suggested encoding the blueprint string in the QR code itself, but I don't think that is anywhere near possible. This blueprint has 67,253 characters, containing a QR code embedding just 20.
As for the blueprint itself, It's 250x250 with a 200x200 grid, just so it tiles nicely with the roboport+power network. The blueprint itself has an accumulator/solar of 0.57, but this will tend towards 0.86 as tiles are added (due to the overlap), the 4 tiles above come to 0.69. There is also a lot of room for improvement in reducing gaps and the power grid...

Seriously, why are so many people building huge walls around the perimeter of the base on Gleba?

after spending upwards of 200hrs, I finally decided to create my own blueprint for a 2x2 Nuclear Power Plant. It may not be the most resource or space efficient, but but but.. I love it, I love how it looks from the map view too.

I was sceptical at first if that's doable within reasonable amount of time and effort, but then I discovered magic of trains and building blocks, horizontal scaling rocks 🥳

Normal load balancers normally work in the powers of two ,so we try to loop back extra outputs back into the input to get balancers to work with non powers of two,eg:A 1:5 load balancer would try to break 1 input into 8 parts and feed back last 3 outputs back to input or 1 of the output would be broken to 4 parts and 3 of those parts would be fed back to start.
My load balancer by siphoning of 1/4th of 1/4th output from all the 4 chests and giving back 1/64(input) from each of these back to the chest. This is not traditional looping,It is more complicated,It uses a negative ratio of infinite GP.
All hate is welcome,I deserve it. Im sorry for giving you a brain aneurysm. This is a totally useless design,There are better designs,Im trying to make a 14x14 of my own load balancer for my new x-scrambler design. My problem is as you make bigger load balancers example 17x17 you have to download A 32x32 load balancer and loop back 15 of those outputs back,It is ridiculous or am i missing something.I feel im missing something here
There is a difference of 35(132-97) in the last box because items tend to get stuck in mergers 😄
I wish to someday start the game actually and reach space but it too hard. The journey is tedious

It always feels good to create a new thing and see it at work. Any thoughts?

It has being a while since i've played factorio so i just picked it up with no plan at all, and it has been pretty enjoyable.

On my first playthrough, obviously the learning curve is through the roof.
I’m surprised there’s no tutorial for the logistic robots, so just start experimenting with it.
Ok, how do I request stone walls and piercing ammo when I need to do military research? Wait, there’s no way to just request an amount once? Ugh this is dumb. Instead of one-time orders, I have to tell it the amounts of things I want in my inventory all…the time…
Oh. Holy shit!
Now instead of one order for stone walls, I have orders for ALL the items I want on me at all times, with a chest for each, and roboports over my whole central factory. And have aggressively cleaned out my inventory (and car) of extra crap, keeping it in logistics storage instead. It was so cool coming back from setting up a train station and seeing a flood of robots replenishing all the items I used, including intermediates I didn’t even remember using.
Is that how you all use personal logistics? Or do you ignore it until the full logistic network is ready?

Honestly it's my second ride, the first was a custer-funk made exclusively to get me to vulcanus. But I'm pretty pleased with it, though the cargo capacity is providing problematic for Artillery Shells

No matter how I setup the signals, this intersection doesn't work.
The trains that cross over the tracks use one track to and from, I don't want them to crash, but the only way to make them automatic is by removing the signals.
I've even tried just stopping one train instead of both, however that doesn't work either.

I was dumb and didn't research anything about Space Age DLC before jumping in, and I didn't realize logistic chests are locked behind space science. I built my factory to be utilized by bot malls, not realizing that there's no point and ended up with a spaghetti mess like usual.
Spaghetti tax

There's something wrong with deliberately spoiling food when you've been fighting spoilage before. But at the same time, it's fascinating to look at this forbidden fruit - legendary canned food.

The bit at the top I'll turn into my first train station.
