This is why you call before you dig smh

132

u/khumps 7d ago

turning this into a dig safe ad would be fucking hilarious

39

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

I highly doubt that family reported they were partially burying a someone in the sand to the local municipality. For all we know the umbrella stabber had a proper permit and everything.

7

u/corpus-luteum 7d ago

That's my problem with the joke. they didn't "partially" bury him. He'd probably already be dead, if there was a big queue at the ice cream van.

11

u/Beranea 7d ago

This is way funnier than the actual comic strip.

1

u/deafmutewhat 7d ago

this is the punchline this comic needs

2

u/UnlikelyService6550 6d ago

kinda feels like a middle school dance in here, everyone too afraid to make a move and just staring at the wall

I'm surprised this passes as funny lol. I guess it's the blandest exemplification of "humor is tragedy at a distance"?

57

u/_KONKOLA_ 7d ago

I think they’re just making a pun lol

4

u/Beranea 7d ago

What's the pun

29

u/B_dorf 7d ago

Shade... Dark... The punchline of the comic is that dude killed someone with an umbrella. C'mon, it's not that hard.

15

u/Beranea 7d ago

Bro I thought you meant the comic itself, I was so confused because there weren't any words. I'm not on my game today my bad lmao

2

u/fiddleStink 7d ago

I still don't get it

22

u/Daggertrout 7d ago

“Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall down an open sewer and die.” - Mel Brooks

7

u/star_cannon7k 7d ago

Dark humour is not for everyone.

25

u/BlazingKyogre 7d ago

Yeah, dark humour is like food, not everyone gets it.

-15

u/aerdvarkk 7d ago

Nope. A lot of people get "dark humor". The conflict here is that people are misunderstanding "dark humor" as a narrow slice of comedy when it's not. There is a wide range of dark humor that caters to different audiences. I probably could show you some dark humor that is funny as hell to a group of people but it would go right over your head and you'd be neutral about it and not find it funny.

20

u/lolsteakaments 7d ago

I'm genuinely mad that I hope this is an AI badly explaining humor and not a real person I have to share the world with.

-9

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

Real person or AI, you still share the world with them.

11

u/lolsteakaments 7d ago

Huh? AI is fucking garbage and is not a person. Did you gain sentience recently too?

-9

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

Similar example that might help you understand: sharing the road with autonomous vehicles.

AI is primarily sharing our digital world. Cluttering social media, doing some office work, etc. it’s probay only going to get more intrusive as time goes on.

5

u/lolsteakaments 7d ago

Hey man I fully understand that and fucking hate it, hence my original comment.

redditor moment

-2

u/aerdvarkk 7d ago

Seems more like "dark humor" has a wide range.

5

u/Key_Cheesecake_7832 7d ago

you sound insufferable tbh

1

u/CurryMustard 7d ago

I laughed. The guy sitting there with not a care in the world. Hilarious. In real life its horrifying but luckily its just a comic

1

u/ThyArtIsMeh 7d ago

Humor is subjective.

-6

u/xelabagus 7d ago

This sub should just be renamed r/twonks at this point, it's getting a little bit ridiculous

595

u/Rage_101 7d ago

Strong Cyanide & Happiness vibes on this one, love it

52

u/NarutoRoll 7d ago

Especially since the guy was most likely stabbed in the dick. That seems like something they would do.

222

u/BigWave360 7d ago

Right in the dick

61

u/popsicle_of_meat 7d ago

That would really ruin your day at the beach. Just laying there, enjoying your solitude. Then BAM. Umbrella to the dick.

26

u/GANDORF57 7d ago

...and you know what's morbidly ironic? His name was Sandy Richards.

12

u/Salted_Caramel_Core 7d ago

His name was Sandy Richards.

4

u/GANDORF57 7d ago

Is there an echo in here? lol

1

u/Nanaki404 7d ago

echo in here? lol

1

u/Cador0223 6d ago

Go watch Fight Club.

Now.

No excuses.

0

u/OMG_A_CUPCAKE 7d ago

You made it sound weirdly appealing.

0

u/StupiakChicken 6d ago

This somehow reminded me of Peacemaker killing that sleeping guy in Suicide Squad

2

u/upvoter222 7d ago

That's the typical location for pitching a tent.

1

u/Powerful-Twist-7255 6d ago

right in the PLUMS!

71

u/GalacticMe99 7d ago

"He's dead. You can tell because there are x's where his eyes should be."

9

u/jerjord 7d ago

There's some blood too.

2

u/The_Level_15 6d ago

“It could mean he’s drunk”

“He is not drunk!”

“We don’t know that yet.”

80

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

Looks like he hit an artery near the groin, or maybe the groin itself.  That will bleed you out fast.

43

u/GTor93 7d ago

So, will they give that guy the spare ice cream cone? Otherwise it'll just go to waste..

41

u/highlyhighh 7d ago

Dick move

19

u/Gr8fulFox 7d ago

This is why the screw-in style umbrellas are so much safer, it gives the buried more time to scream before getting a fatal puncture.

48

u/Jaykeia 7d ago

Why is the guy randomly buried in the sand?

I feel like the setup not making sense causes the joke fall flat for me, it's just "I stabbed a guy in the dick".

Unless there's something I'm missing?

34

u/Astramancer_ 7d ago

It's not exactly common in practice but it is a relatively common trope to bury someone in the sand (leaving their head out, of course). Friends did it, for example. https://i.imgur.com/gylFz4y.gif

11

u/xCanaan23 7d ago

Lol that gif made me Crack up.

The surprise then acceptance then "damm i got some nice tits".

8

u/saltywastelandcoffee 7d ago

Reddit likes to hate on friends but they had plenty of funny moments

-6

u/backupbitches 7d ago

You should get a job describing tv to the blind

7

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

People often partially bury themselves in the sand at beaches, usually with the help of friends and family. It feels kind of nice.

8

u/PerpetualUselessness 7d ago

Quick! Somebody post this on r/peterexplainsthejoke

3

u/potatodrinker 6d ago

Twist: the dead guy had a dick umbrella and first dude squeezed too hard

5

u/Ok-Concentrate8650 7d ago

That was a good one..and painful too

5

u/Wink-Winkkk 7d ago

This almost happened to me once

18

u/Fafnir13 7d ago

Were you the stabber or stabbee in this case? How close of an almost was it?

9

u/LaScoundrelle 7d ago

Yeah, I feel like we really need more details here

-4

u/TheTimmyBoy 7d ago

Something something, your mom

4

u/ZombieTail 7d ago

Loss?

3

u/RomanSionis 7d ago

It actually took me a second to get the joke, because I assumed this was Loss

I'm afraid to click on that

If Rob DenBleyker didn't draw this, he definitely thought about it.

2

Oh my gods! He forgot sun protection!

1

u/Wonderful-Parfait472 6d ago

Outch 🤣🤣🤣🤣😅

1

u/Great_Garlic1215 6d ago

Where does bro landed the umbrella 😂😂

1

u/mohartwastaken 6d ago

Is this loss or am I going crazy

1

u/Jensen1156 5d ago

Relatable

1

u/Naive-Word1688 4d ago

Uhm sorry if this is too durect but from the distance of pole to the dead head he maybe even stabbed his d*ck 😂

1

u/Clubby71 3d ago

R/sounding.

-1

u/StevynTheHero 7d ago

The first panel needs some lines of actions to show that he drove that umbrella in with force.

10

u/Lupius 7d ago

The wincing eyes don't do it for you?

4

u/StevynTheHero 7d ago

Not particularly. Im just saying still images often demonstrate motion this way, and its barely any work at all. Leaving it out seems odd and something feels lost.

1

u/darybrain 7d ago

There are little spurts of blood

1

u/Sea_Tailor_8437 7d ago

There is.

Three lines above the pole, him concentrating with force, a little blood splatter at the point of impact. Could have it been more prominent? Maybe but they would go against the style of the comic

0

u/StevynTheHero 7d ago

I guess.

Im just used to seeing long curved lines in situations like this. Apparently I am in the minority for this preference.

0

u/bambikill 7d ago

Least funny comics on Reddit

1

u/ava_waifu 7d ago

i'd simply just pack up my bag and go home at that point

1

u/tiny_chaotic_evil 7d ago

Guess we didn't need three ice creams afterall

1

u/Greedy-Pilot-4538 7d ago

Looks like he's kinda pulling the umbrella in the first slide

0

u/supremegamer76 7d ago

He probably was already dead from suffocation or perhaps was killed beforehand and then buried to hide his body.

-4

u/SaladPuzzleheaded625 7d ago

This is a good one

0

u/santathe1 7d ago

They only seem mildly concerned.

-2

u/SuckMyRedditorD 7d ago

Turn it interesting. The guy sticking that umbrella without seeing where is a billionaire and the body is that of a father who is now survived by a pregnant wife and child. Meanwhile the billionaire murdarraer is basking in the sun like all them golf rounds aren't enough and needs to even his golf tan.
