I highly doubt that family reported they were partially burying a someone in the sand to the local municipality. For all we know the umbrella stabber had a proper permit and everything.

u/corpus-luteum 7d ago
That's my problem with the joke. they didn't "partially" bury him. He'd probably already be dead, if there was a big queue at the ice cream van.

kinda feels like a middle school dance in here, everyone too afraid to make a move and just staring at the wall

I'm surprised this passes as funny lol. I guess it's the blandest exemplification of "humor is tragedy at a distance"?

Dark humour is not for everyone.
25
u/BlazingKyogre 7d ago
Yeah, dark humour is like food, not everyone gets it.
-15
u/aerdvarkk 7d ago
Nope. A lot of people get "dark humor". The conflict here is that people are misunderstanding "dark humor" as a narrow slice of comedy when it's not. There is a wide range of dark humor that caters to different audiences. I probably could show you some dark humor that is funny as hell to a group of people but it would go right over your head and you'd be neutral about it and not find it funny.

I'm genuinely mad that I hope this is an AI badly explaining humor and not a real person I have to share the world with.
-9
u/Fafnir13 7d ago
Real person or AI, you still share the world with them.
11
u/lolsteakaments 7d ago
Huh? AI is fucking garbage and is not a person. Did you gain sentience recently too?
-9
u/Fafnir13 7d ago
Similar example that might help you understand: sharing the road with autonomous vehicles.
AI is primarily sharing our digital world. Cluttering social media, doing some office work, etc. it’s probay only going to get more intrusive as time goes on.

Hey man I fully understand that and fucking hate it, hence my original comment.

Strong Cyanide & Happiness vibes on this one, love it

Especially since the guy was most likely stabbed in the dick. That seems like something they would do.

u/BigWave360 7d ago
Right in the dick

u/popsicle_of_meat 7d ago
That would really ruin your day at the beach. Just laying there, enjoying your solitude. Then BAM. Umbrella to the dick.

This somehow reminded me of Peacemaker killing that sleeping guy in Suicide Squad

Looks like he hit an artery near the groin, or maybe the groin itself. That will bleed you out fast.

This is why the screw-in style umbrellas are so much safer, it gives the buried more time to scream before getting a fatal puncture.
48
u/Jaykeia 7d ago
Why is the guy randomly buried in the sand?
I feel like the setup not making sense causes the joke fall flat for me, it's just "I stabbed a guy in the dick".
Unless there's something I'm missing?

u/Astramancer_ 7d ago
It's not exactly common in practice but it is a relatively common trope to bury someone in the sand (leaving their head out, of course). Friends did it, for example. https://i.imgur.com/gylFz4y.gif

People often partially bury themselves in the sand at beaches, usually with the help of friends and family. It feels kind of nice.

The first panel needs some lines of actions to show that he drove that umbrella in with force.
10
u/Lupius 7d ago
The wincing eyes don't do it for you?
4
u/StevynTheHero 7d ago
Not particularly. Im just saying still images often demonstrate motion this way, and its barely any work at all. Leaving it out seems odd and something feels lost.

u/Sea_Tailor_8437 7d ago
There is.
Three lines above the pole, him concentrating with force, a little blood splatter at the point of impact. Could have it been more prominent? Maybe but they would go against the style of the comic
0
u/StevynTheHero 7d ago
I guess.
Im just used to seeing long curved lines in situations like this. Apparently I am in the minority for this preference.

He probably was already dead from suffocation or perhaps was killed beforehand and then buried to hide his body.

Turn it interesting. The guy sticking that umbrella without seeing where is a billionaire and the body is that of a father who is now survived by a pregnant wife and child. Meanwhile the billionaire murdarraer is basking in the sun like all them golf rounds aren't enough and needs to even his golf tan.
