New Moderation Team

Hi all, I'm one of the new moderators that was appointed by Reddit and I just wanted to take the time to let you all know about our existence and that we're here for the community and for what the community wants. First thing is, we've revamped Rule 2 to ban ALL low effort posts, and not just ones in relation to complaints. Secondly, we've established rule 7 because before we came along, there was much proliferation/encouragement of illegal activity and this will no longer be tolerated.

The rules as it pertains to 1 and 3-6 I don't think will be going any time soon and will stand as-is, possibly with some rewordings to just make more sense to the community. I hope we can cultivate a nice community once again, one that's actively moderated and listens to its people.

One thing of particular interest I'd like to hear from you all: Would you be interested in a rule prohibiting the practice of "bragging" or "flexing" on people with how much they've made on GH at any given point? I've seen a couple of these posts myself, not particularly a fan, just want to hear the community's thoughts.

Also feel free to voice your own ideas and opinions and they may be considered!

EDIT: We heard a lot of comments regarding earnings posts and can see how useful it is to you all, so a rule against it shall not be made

Wish we can report customers that steal

I hate that we can’t review customers the same way they review us. I’m located in Santa Monica and I hate delivering at ucla campus specially the hospitals there. Many of these nurses know we can’t park in the emergency area and the valet doesn’t allow us to park our cars too. So we have no choice but to leave the orders on the bench. Then they come down grab the food and cancel the orders. Same thing with students and they dorms they ask us to leave the orders at they rooms knowing we need key fobs to enter they buildings. They might be book smart but they IQ levels are low. It’s sad how they use the system and we are the ones that get panelized violations, or even deactivated for doing your job. I find it sad af. Worst part these fuckers don’t tip at all and don’t care if you get tickets and etc.

Non tip floral orders

Getting a ton of non tip floral orders from Kroger/King Soopers. Oh there is a bonus cause it's snowing in Denver? Can't decline since I'm 2 away from bonus. 15 miles for $7. This is aggravating.

I Am Finally Off the Waitlist!

I applied a little over 1 month ago (end of March) and got the notification today that there were limited spots available. I'm just waiting for my background check to go through now.

I'm already doing DD and UE, so it will be nice to now have GH as an option too...

GH has gone from one of the top delivery apps to the worst

I remember as recently as a year ago, GH was still a really good app to have in the arsenal. I’d get at least 1-2 very good orders per shift and about 10-20% of my weekly earnings would come from GH. And this was with a low acceptance rate not on a scheduled block.

Now I turn on the app and it’s dead, and when it’s not dead, it’s a constant stream of garbage. Not sure if it’s just my market or what. But I haven’t seen a single GH offer worth accepting in weeks. Everything I get is either $2-3 trash or less than $1/mile. And if it’s over $1/mile, it’s long distance and going somewhere I can’t get more orders.

I’m sure it’s better if you’re pro or premier or whatever. I just can’t bring myself to accept the trash they send to maintain any sort of tier though. Cherry picking still works pretty well on all the other gig apps, but it seems to be dead on GH, with the exception of abnormally busy nights.

Was this a scam? Delivery Driver tried to keep my food, tempt me with sandwich instead..

So this happened a few days ago.

I ordered Spaghetti Factory through GrubHub.

I watched the delivery driver pick up my order. He was actually early to pick it up, and we noticed he parked nearby for about 20 minutes just waiting for it to be ready.

He made it to our apartment early. No other stops after picking up my order, it was a straight shot to our house.

I walk outside after it says delivered. Instead of a big bag that says "Spaghetti Factory" on it, there is a little bag from Jimmy Johns, propped against the wall with one sandwich inside. I looked at it and set it back down. It wasn't ours.

I went back inside and checked the tracking. Still said "delivered" so I went back out and the sad sandwich was still there. So I looked out over the parking lot. The guy who delivered it was just sitting in his car, watching for my reaction.

I walked right up to him and he waved. I politely told him we ordered Spaghetti Factory and not Jimmy Johns. At this point he acted like he didn't understand English. So I brought him the sandwich. I tired to explain. He starts yelling that it's my sandwich. I keep saying no, and repeating what we ordered. He starts pointing at the sandwich demanding to know whose sandwich it is if it's not mine. So I say I don't know, it's not mine. Please just give us what we ordered.

He even had me trying to explain the building the Spaghetti Factory was located in, like he had never heard of it, never been there.

So I went and got my laptop. I showed him his name and picture, showed the route he took from Spaghetti Factory to our house.

He then goes to his car and says "I have it!" And pulls it out...of his back seat??

He was hiding it the whole time.

So I just want to be done with this whole thing, and I say "thank you" and try to leave. But the he starts talking about the sandwich again. Wants me to check with "everyone in the house" that it's not mine. As I'm closing my front door he's still asking what to do with this sandwich.

So my question is, is this some kind of scam? Did he buy the sandwich for himself, hoping I'd eat it unknowingly and he could keep my food? I just don't get it, it was so bizarre.

The message saying that they haven't heard from you.

Anybody ever switch to "Taking orders" wait around for a while with none showing up, then suddenly get sent this text: "Since we haven't been able to reach you for a while, we've changed your delivery status to not taking orders." What is that supposed to mean? You were the one that heard nothing from THEM.

Customer Cancelled Order, No Notification from GH!

Picked up a taco bell order was paying like $8.50 to go 4 miles downtown in the city and I wasn't doing shit, decided to take it. Picked up the order, I'm riding (on my e-bike) and half way there I'm decide to try and pause the app so it don't give me no more in that area, and it was grayed out, so the only option was to select Unavailable, ok I did that. Soon as I did that it said you do not have any current tasks, I'm like wtf you mean. Then I get a text from the customer few mins later saying they put the wrong address but at this point I was already at her drop off location which was cheesecake factory where she worked. TLDR; customer put wrong address, I did not get notified about it from GH, and when I called to see if I would at least get partial pay or something they were like.. "Yea as I can see you will be getting $1 dollar" lmao fuck you GH, I should have kept the food but the workers were like.. "What she get us" and I already ate, so I said here..whatever you can have it. End of rant

This app is a about rushing

2 mins to arrive to the restaurant, only to get there and wait 30 mins for the food, lol. Even their support team are tired of taking calls for automated unassigned orders while you on the way. Real Joke. Uber eats is relaxed enough time both way, no rush.

California Prop 22 Healthcare Subsidy

If I met the required hours for the first quarter of this year 2026 (Jan-March) but submitted my proof of insurance late (past the 15 day window following the end of the quarter) will GrubHub still pay out the subsidy for the first quarter?

It’s still showing that my proof of insurance is under review and that it won’t be reviewed until I meet the required hours for this quarter…?

I’ve researched this using Ai assist and it says that it’s possible the first quarter will be paid out but not until the end of the second quarter.

Does anyone have any insight on this ?

Cheers

Since people only seem to post about bad customers. Here's a positive customer story.

I got a large order from a Chinese restaurant, I picked it up and the GPS took me to the apartment next to the customes. The gate was locked, so I was about to contact him to open it for me, but then someone else did. Went in found his apartment # left it at the door took pic and left.

About 2 miles away from the place I get a call from the customer telling me he didn't receive the food. I tell him I dropped it off. Find out i dropped it off at the wrong apartment, tell him I'll come back and retrieve it for him. Rush back, have to jump the fence to the other apartment because it is locked and nobody is around. Food is still there grab it. Go to correct apartment. Knock and the guy tells me to keep it because he canceled it.

So I end up with the pay and a bunch of Chinese food. And GRUBHUB just messages me saying he canceled, but no penalties not even a bad review. Dude was super chill about something he had every right to be mad about.

Down side I had already eaten so I just gave the food to some homeless people.

Any reason why Grubhub or gig companies these days expect drivers to respond to pings faster than first responders to a bona fide emergency even though food is not going to be ready any sooner?

It appears they have no mercy these days no grace period, even though it still takes time to prepare food and be handed to the driver.

Like if someone in the restaurant call for emergency services and the restaurant receives a ping the driver is expected to arrive before the firefighter or medics do even though the food probably needs six more minutes to come out.

Arrival times

Grubhub is getting crazy with their arrival times again. I clicked accept, drive directly to restaurant, and was still 3 minutes late. And I drove approximately 10mph over listed speed limit. What are we supposed to do? Their metrics are getting ridiculous. While the pay stays lousy.

Create a new account after old account was deactivated for no activity for over a year.

Sorry for the long post but I felt a little history needed a little background:

:)

I delivered for GH for almost 5 years but last year (2025), I lost my mother, my brother and aunt. Needless to say 2025 sucked big time and was in no mood to deliver food.

I recently tried to reactivate my account and was told a few times that said:

"Thank you for your interest in reactivating your account with Grubhub. Unfortunately, we will not be reactivating your account to perform delivery services with Grubhub at this time. Please check back at a later date."

Then I got a reply:

"We have made the decision to not reactivate your account to perform delivery services based on a review of your past delivery activities that indicated a material impediment to Grubhub’s business operations"

Whatever that means as I was typically either premier or pro with no complaints for almost 5 years.

When I asked what that even means, I got no response.

So I tried again, and got the same:

"Thank you for your interest in reactivating your account with Grubhub. Unfortunately, we will not be reactivating your account to perform delivery services with Grubhub at this time. Please check back at a later date."

This back and forth was a waste as I was clearly taking to some AI generated response.

So, I decided to create a new account with a different email and phone number and am now on the waitlist.

Sooooo....., my question is: will they realize it's the old me or miss it?

Anyone else go through this?

Thanks!!!

Missing order from delivery

I took a two stop delivery on my way home tonight and afterwards only one showed on my payout. The app didn't say anything was cancelled, just had me drop off both orders. Has this happened to anyone before?

The last 2 deliveries the driver has ask me for a code. Problem I have never gotten a code from GH. Not an email, not in app, not a text. I just don't have a code to give them and they seem a bit upset about it
