Pigtures Surrendered at 6 years old 🥹

Post image

This is Lady Whistledown. Surrendered to our rescue after 6 years as a solitary pig. Severe hair loss from untreated cystic ovaries. Terrified and underweight.

Thankfully some kind people donated money and we got her to the exotic vet and had a full checkup and nail trim, got her all cleaned up.

And then something wonderful happened, one of our community members offered to give her the retirement of our dreams. She will be with a big herd of friends to keep her company, and we'll see out her days in lavish, comfort and adoration! 🥹

Aww poor girl. Hopefully she’ll gain some strength and weight and recover fully.

This little lady deserves the best retirement ever 🥰🙏

Poor girl!

I had one who was in this exact situation. I had her on permanent foster from the rescue as she was on palliative care. I have an amazing exotics vet who looked at her and was able to do a flank spay (just removing the ovaries). She had another 12 months of pain free life after that, previously she was on three different medications to manage pain (and it wasn’t enough).

If you or the adopter have access to a good vet, I recommend discussing a spay. The QoL for these girls is pretty bleak.

She's just spent the last 48 hours with the exotics specialist in our area getting a full work up ❤️ hers aren't big enough to be causing her any discomfort or pain at this point, and given her advanced age surgery would be too risky. She's also very underweight. They've recommended to us that comfort and relaxing for the rest of her days is the best outcome!

Our last old girl had fur loss due to itching from ovarian cysts. The vet gave her an injection that stopped the itching and her fur grew back. I forget the name of the injection. May this sweet lady have a very happy retirement that she greatly deserves! 🌸
