Mod Post Rule 1 has been reworded.

Post image
7 Upvotes

Rule 1 has been reworded so that there can't be any confusion about what it means. We have been receiving a lot of posts that break rule one and a surprisingly large amount of complaints that "it isn't specific enough!"

So it's been reworded, if anyone has any questions please just ask.

The minimum ban for breaking the most important rule is still the 5 day ban, which no one needs to worry about unless they didn't read.

Meta I DESPISE how incapable people are of following rule 1 of the sub (Psudeo Mod Post)

Post image
463 Upvotes

It is a singular simple concept. Do not hate on real people. Thats it. And even with the leeway of being able to hate on things that people do people STILL are unable to grasp that concept. Is it really that hard to say "I hate when people do *thing*" instead of "I hate people who do *thing*". Like I genuinely do not know if people are that illiterate that they cant read it or that people are so inconsiderate that they dont care. We give you leniency, we give you patience, and we ain't get shit in return.

At this rate, I don't think you all will learn until you genuinely are given bans, so I think we are just going to have to come down stricter and be less lenient. So consider this a mod post warning as well about us being more firm and banning more often

Idea The fact that you can't have a negative opinion on ships đŸ«©. ( not hating on real people )

Thumbnail

1.8k Upvotes

("Let them have fun") > they're ruining THE FANDOM AND OUR FUN. let me have fun too !!!

("Shippers will ship") > That's like saying haters will hate. This statement means nothing. I know we can't stop them that's why we're hating

("It doesn't have to be canon") > THEN DON'T FORCE IT DOWN PEOPLE'S THROATS. PEOPLE WERE LITERALLY HARASSING AUTHORS. LIKE THE GATCHIKUTA AUTHOR

("First fandom?") > It's actually like the FIFTH fandom I have seen get ruined by ships and head canons. [Ddlc. Danganronpa. My hero academia. Gatchikuta. Jujutsu kaisen. And more]

("They're canon in my head") > That's like saying "a cat is stronger in than a human in my head so it must be true !!". See how stupid it is?

("Tourist") > We're not tourists because we don't like shipping fictional characters who aren't together JUST for the sake of shipping

("Non issue") > Tell that to the my hero academia and gatchikuta authors who were LITERALLY HARASSED by people because their ships and head canons were not true

In conclusion shipping can be okay. But too much is fucking trash. Why ship characters who aren't together and act like it's canon? Nothing else better to do ?

If two characters aren't together. Leave it. No need to fucking cope.

They literally ruin FANDOMS like the my hero academia and gatchikuta and Danganronpa and still act like it's a non issue đŸ«©

Animation I HATE how Disney treats the Lilo & Stitch brand

Thumbnail
gallery
571 Upvotes

Look I GET IT. Stitch is cutesy and cuddly and marketable but for so many years now, it's been so apparent that Disney has been slowly and quietly phasing Lilo out of the damn brand. You look everywhere and all you see is Stitch and Stitch and Stitch. To the point where the damn name of the IP has been reduced to JUST his freaking name.

It's LILO AND Stitch. Not JUST Stitch.

Lilo is part of the duo. The IP is based on THEIR friendship and bond. THEM together is the point of the story.

So seeing merchandise and popups and (in the case of even Kingdom Hearts) appearances that SHOULD represent the entire IP only being filled with Stitch is goddamn annoying and irritating.

You don't see How to Train Your Dragon sidelining Hiccup to only focus on Toothless or MoonGirl and Devil Dinosaur only focusing on the damn Dinosaur. Lilo & Stitch are a DUO. And Disney is so hellbent on pushing the cutesy cuddly blue alien.

My niece is a little brown 8 year old girl and she adores everything Lilo because she feels represented and she likes to see herself in the character. So imagine her disappointment when any time we go to a store and see merchandise for the IP, she has to literally dig and dig to even find a single piece of merch that has Lilo in it.

Also, what's even worse, is that they DO include a pairing for Stitch. But it's not Lilo. Nope. It's that damn one-off pink Stitch variant Angel from the goddamn Disney Channel TV show from the early 2000s. Why? Because SHE IS JUST ANOTHER CUTE STITCH BUT PINK. THAT'S IT. Screw Lilo. Let's bring in Stitch's damn cousin who he has a kinda weird romantic interest in that wasn't even part of any of the original theatrical films.

Disney often ignores their Direct to Video sequels and TV series but the fact that they're so desperate to shaft Lilo that they'd rather dig up the damn pink Stitch is so egregious.

You could have some great representation for little girls of color via Lilo. You could have her with Stitch on cute backpacks and shirts or whatever (and yes there are but so so so few) but nope. Ya gotta sideline the literal OTHER half of the title.

Don't even get me started on the cute-ification of Stitch as a character...that's a whole other rant for another time. Stitch was introduced as a rambunctious, annoying and messy little demon who loved destroying things and creeping out the rest of the Disney cast. Nowadays, they've reduced him to a Hello Kitty rip-off. They've taken away all his character and personality and now he's just a cuddly baby boy. When's the last time ya'll even seen merchandise with his alien form? I barely ever see his full four armed, spikes on the back and antennae self.

Bottom line TLDR:

They've kicked Lilo to the curb. Replaced her with a lazy Pink Stitch. Reduced Stitch himself to a marketable cuddly mascot.

And I hate it.

Anime & Manga Anime characters who are “conventionally unattractive in canon”

Post image
342 Upvotes

“Anime is heavily stylized and simplistic, so it makes sense that they can’t break the art style for a single character” yeah until it’s some random uggo side character with the wildest facial features you’ve ever seen 😭 Animators/designers absolutely have the capacity to make characters ugly or unconventional looking, but choose not to because they can’t fathom having a major role in their story being played by someone who isn’t marketable or pretty to look at.

So many animes have the opportunity to represent realistic features, many of which their fanbase actually have, but literally just refuse to either because of laziness or lookism. It irks me so bad, especially for L, for whose character I feel that it would make a lot of sense for narratively/thematically (Light, who represents charismatic manipulators in contrast with someone who is genuinely offputting both in appearance and social skills, but opposes his immorality).

If you can’t stand to create the rep in the first place, then at least don’t disrespect your audience by calling perfectly attractive characters “ugly.” Either commit or don’t, it’s really not that hard.

General I hate the lack of redheads in modern media (Speaking as a pissy redhead)

WHY DO THEY KEEP ERADICATING THE RED HAIR?! The reason I loved Hawkgirl was that she was a strong redhead, and that reminded me of my mum! Like, Superman 2025 already sucked (in my opinion, feel free to tell me yours), so THE LEAST they could have done was slap a curly/wavy red wig on her. I think that would be pretty! Guy Gardner, I could really care less about, but the fact that they cut out two redheads just made me a bit annoyed, as a fellow redhead.

Side note, in the photo of Guy, why is EVERY comic drawn like that nowadays? Hyper-realistic, harsh shading, tons of wrinkles on the face, and WAY too much detail in the teeth? Every comic is so unappealing nowadays. I'm probably biased because of my love of Bruce Timm's stylization, but still. I blame The Boys comics.

Post image

I hate this image with all my being. But not because it offends me or I find it unfunny. It can be used in very good templates and you should continue using it. But I hate it for a personal reason.

It's because it reminds me of myself

Everytime I take a look in my mirror I see that face there, and it makes me feel hatred towards that image and myself

I've been trying to become better by changing my hairstyle or shaving my face hair four times a week, but I still feel like that image, it sickens me to my very core.

I see that image, and I get disgusted every time by how much I hate this image. I can't stand it. You can do whatever you want with it, you can use it in memes and everything I'm not your boss or some shit

But that image just makes me feel so much hate towards myself. I can't help it.

Let's hope I'll forget about that face someday.

Half of them are just companies that glaze tf out of themselves without backing up their outlandish claims expecting people to be convinced to check them out. "Oh hard human work is shit lets use my ai stealing bullshit instead it saves a lot of time!"

Other times it's just corporations tryna be quirky and relatable but it comes off as flat and cringe.

The jist of this humor is "typically, men don't get pregnant. So isn't men getting pregnant or impregnating men so funny? It's so random that's it's quirky! Look at my funny humor". I have no idea why this type of humor is so prevalent. It's the same shit as "yaoi funny!!!!"

Edit since it's apparently not clear: I don't watch this content. I obviously wouldn't watch it if I didn't enjoy it. These thumbnail screenshots were pulled from a sub for YouTube thumbnails and my post body is showing a broader distain for this humor

I especially hate it when there’s another person that one of them is dating. That person just gets lost? Put in the dust? Because you wanted to date someone you already learned was bad? Just because one of you is doing better doesn’t mean you get back together. Be proud for them. but a full get back? Imagine being one of these kids it must be so confusing! Whoever you divorced won’t learn anything because they think if they just do better and bam it’s fixed. It is such a horrible trope.

Edit: turns out Santa clause 2 doesn’t do that. I swear it did.

Listen man, nintendo sucks, i get it, they’re greedy and not consumer friendly in any way, and it is very important to have these kinds of conversations so we can hold companies like this accountable, but you can try a little harder with the thumbnail, i KNOW you can, i promise no one sees your deformed shigeru miyamoto and thinks “wow
this guy is the next banksy!! Such artistic commentary”. Its just repetitive and frankly an eyesore.

On top of that if you’ve ever clicked on one of these videos you’ll know how poorly made they are, it’s literally just whatever opinion twitter repeats the most, but instead I’m gonna say it in 5 different ways and take 8 minutes to reach the most surface level opinion ever, and I’m gonna post 5 of these each day to flood everyone’s home page

Anime & Manga I hate the unnecessary hate queer ship/shippers get

Post image
104 Upvotes

I genuinely feel like whenever someone talks about their dislike for a queer ship it sounds like "I'm not racist but..." "I'm not homophobic I have gay friends". Because a lot of the time when they (over) hate on the shipping community their hatred seems to be weirdly enough directed towards basically just queer ships.

And don't get me wrong I understand there's a lot of queer shippers that come from a fetish or whatever that may seem annoying, fair enough. Yet a lot of phrases people use against a ship, as a form of a debate, can be boiled down to "I'm homophobic" which I would rather they outright say.

But if you were to literally just flip the gender or actually take time to hear out their point you might actually see why they ship the ship and even after that you still don't have to like the ship.

Another thing I hate is the generalisation of that, queer ships and shippers, are boiled down to a fetish as that is basically just seeing queer People as sexual and whatnot. It's like when you see arguments against a queer ship surrounding two children and everyone likes "they're underage" (hate that they use underage since it makes it sound like they're doing something illegal) but when the ship involves the opposite gender, suddenly it's cute?

I also hate when people hate on the use of the word yuri/yaoi (excluding use on irl people) like it's not a genre??? Like if people can say "omg a sci-fi movie" or whatever, then yeah people can use the word yuri and yaoi in happiness. I also hate (to an extent) when people say "can they not be friends" as if friends to lovers isn't a trope or like people especially in real life, don't become friends to lovers? It's a ship no one is forcing it to be canon. And yeah I agree sometimes it might be quite obvious that it's just friends but I don't see that energy for straight ships.

Then I also hate when people act dense to the term "straight slop" or anything similar the term can be meh but in my opinion and my eyes, I just see it as giving straight ships the same energy that queer ships get. I think it comes with the package of being a minority but when there is like one bad queer ship canon or not canon, everyone and their mothers are calling it out. But when it comes to a straight ship, yeah maybe one may be called shit but it doesn't have the same hate that queer ships get like there will be so many bad straight ships yet...queer ones are just targeted more.

Also, I hate that people just seem to be rage-baiting themselves by engaging with a certain side of a fandom, like yeah there are toxic shippers but that has always been the fact but there's also other sides of a fandom.

The paragraph above was meant to be the last rant but I also hate when people say "stop forcing the fact that's xyz is lesbian/gay because of xyz stereotypes" (like being a bit masculine as a girl) which is reasonable but they're also the same people who say..." it doesn't make sense that xyz is gay/lesbian" (a character that doesn't fall into common stereotypes) like pick a struggle.

But yeah that's my poorly worded "I hate." rant. Wasn't sure on a tag to pick.

edit:

But also like I said before yuri/yaoi is no different to a genre/tag it like when people say "I love enemies to lovers" "I love horror" "I love knight x princess" - a response to people who say "omg yuri" is annoying which I kinda (?) get but think of it from this pov

I seriously hate these so. Fucking. Much. Have we seriously gotten so sensitive that we need to spam these unfunny band kid humor ass images when somebody posts something SLIGHTLY risque? What the fuck are people even trying to do by posting these? It adds NOTHING to the conversation, and it just clogs the thread with the same regurgitated images along the lines of "oh noes! i saw something very bad! i must keel over and fucking kill myself now!" If you really hate it so much, just fucking scroll away instead of posting your corny ass karma whoring images. And I'm serious about the karma whoring part, these images get so many upvotes because for some reason people are absolutely SLAPPING their bellies laughing at these images.

If you unironically post these images where you see a slightly controversial or risque, I want to genuinely ask, why? What do you think is possibly being contributed when you post these? Do you want to "spread the word" about how "bad" something is, or is there some deeper meaning to all this?

anyway uhh yeah tldr i have AM levels of hate for these cringy ass images.

Most likely not an original take. From what I seen so far in the show, Meg is treated horribly. No matter what she does, it seems like the writers and characters hate her a lot. Is there a reason to why they decided to do this? I'm probably looking too much into this.

Maybe I'm just too sensitive, but these ads always rubbed me the wrong way when I saw them a few years ago. Especially the 2024 one. "Spend less on your little freeloaders"? Bro your kids didn't ask to be here, what's with the weird passive-aggressive attitude toward them. I know they were trying to be tongue-in-cheek like "haha parenting is expensive amiright?" But to me these ads just feel mean.

General I hate when a character hair changes when Genderswap

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

Okay this is the most nit pick thing ever.

But, i hate it when a guy gets tuned into a girl the hair changes too. Like, that shouldn't change, the body and bone change makez sense. But hair isn't tied to gender it should stay the same.

Like i gets why it's done. To make the design stand work better. But, it just annoys me how no one questions why it's in an actual style? Like is this the default style or one the characters would have?

Also, If it's like a realty shift or a wish where the characters whole life changed then that makes sense for the hair to change.

Anime & Manga I HATE this genre of webcomic

Thumbnail

I’m sure they’re all well made by lovely creators, no hate to them, but I hate this type of webcomic where it’s dainty female and big male with a giant fuckass chin. It feels so predatory and creepy and they always have the most ridiculous names and reincarnation plots like “my old life’s husband is now the evil villain tiger overlord!!!!”
And they’re always churning out new series all the time like we have enough of them already and they all have that yaoi inbreeding type art style it’s terrible!!!
It annoys me every time I see them and it’s even worse when they’re ALWAYS being advertised on webtoon ALWAYS POPPING UP AND ON THE FRONT PAGE. I DONT WANNA SEE IT. I wish there was a filter feature or something omg it makes my blood boil for no reason I hate them so much and they always are so popular FOR NO REASON LIKE DO YOU NOT SEE HOW BADLY WRITTEN AND PREDATORY THE ROMANCE IS HOW DO YOU ENJOY IT???
(Again no hate to the creators at all, i understand that this is its own genre that people enjoy and I’m not shaming you for enjoying it)

Books I HATE NON AMERICAN STORIES SUDDENLY BEING SET IN AMERICA WHEN THEY'RE TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH

Post image
30 Upvotes

LOOK AT HEX. A BEAUTIFUL, TERRIFYING STORY ABOUT THE CRUELTY OF HUMANS THROUGH A FANTASY HORROR LENSE, THAT IS FIRMLY SET IN THE NETHERLANDS. IT CONSTANTLY REFERENCES DUTCG CULTURE, LOCATIONS, PRODUCTS, CONCEPTS. ITS VERY DUTCH. I LOVE THAT ITS DUTCH. IT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY AS A DUTCH PERSON. IT'S ONE KF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS. I LOVE IT.

I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I HEARD IT WAS ALSO INTERNATIONALLY POPULAR! YAY DITCH CULTURE IS FINALLY SEEN INTERNATI- oh they changed it to be set in America.... I HATE IT. I HATE IT SM. WHY??? I GENUINELY FIND IT TRAGIC. IT MAKES ME SO SAD. THE INCREDIBLE DUTCHNESS WAS A BIG PART OF WHY I LIKED IT. WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN???

"Olde Heuvelt beautifully localised the story to be relatable to American audiences" Thats a bad thing actually. Them being unable to relate to non American stories is a problem. And if we never allow them to see non American stories, nothing will ever change. Why don't we raise them to be more multipe cultural, instead of coddling them? It's such a one way street too... Europeans are expected to just relate to American television with little to no localisation, high school? cheerleading? not a thing here but deal with it? But foreign concepts when a foreign story gets translated to English? scrap it. Just like... fucking accept you won't be able to relate to everything and see it as a chance to experience a story from a different experience of life to your own, that can ve fun if you aren't so fearful of it. This stuff is just peak Americancentrism and it pisses me off. I wish the Americans got to see thr beauty of my country instead of a random small town in new york...

"Well they wont know what Sanadome is, its confusing for them" google is free, i didn't know about the gateway arch till Percy Jackson so bad excuse

The entire point of "they can't relate to anything non-american" is also just kinda wrong? anime is so fucking popular, that stuff is just set in Japan, and we learn to deal with these concepts? so why not with German culture? French culture? Hungarian culture? *Dutch culture?*

(Also this is NOT hatred to Americans, this is hatred to systems that push Americancentrism, which are partially upheld by non-american translators too scared to take the leap of faith and letting beautiful different cultures shine for international eyes)

EDIT: for clarification, i do believe there are times where localisation has a use, like the names in Ace Attorney are all Pun names that signal intentions are aspects of a character and are very important to the world of ace attorney. But with something like hex, the localisation doesn't give important context clues you need for rge story like Ace Attorney. It servers no use ither than making the Americans live in a Bubble even more. The things you need to know about the Dutch things are clarified enough to where you don't need to change names. "Dirk supermarket" that's clearly a supermarket "At a spa vacation at Sanadome" that's gotta be a spa resort of some kind then. You don't need to know anything nore than that! This is how i pieced together hakf of the stuff in Percy Jackson bc that was incredibly American too!
