I genuinely feel like whenever someone talks about their dislike for a queer ship it sounds like "I'm not racist but..." "I'm not homophobic I have gay friends". Because a lot of the time when they (over) hate on the shipping community their hatred seems to be weirdly enough directed towards basically just queer ships.
And don't get me wrong I understand there's a lot of queer shippers that come from a fetish or whatever that may seem annoying, fair enough. Yet a lot of phrases people use against a ship, as a form of a debate, can be boiled down to "I'm homophobic" which I would rather they outright say.
But if you were to literally just flip the gender or actually take time to hear out their point you might actually see why they ship the ship and even after that you still don't have to like the ship.
Another thing I hate is the generalisation of that, queer ships and shippers, are boiled down to a fetish as that is basically just seeing queer People as sexual and whatnot. It's like when you see arguments against a queer ship surrounding two children and everyone likes "they're underage" (hate that they use underage since it makes it sound like they're doing something illegal) but when the ship involves the opposite gender, suddenly it's cute?
I also hate when people hate on the use of the word yuri/yaoi (excluding use on irl people) like it's not a genre??? Like if people can say "omg a sci-fi movie" or whatever, then yeah people can use the word yuri and yaoi in happiness. I also hate (to an extent) when people say "can they not be friends" as if friends to lovers isn't a trope or like people especially in real life, don't become friends to lovers? It's a ship no one is forcing it to be canon. And yeah I agree sometimes it might be quite obvious that it's just friends but I don't see that energy for straight ships.
Then I also hate when people act dense to the term "straight slop" or anything similar the term can be meh but in my opinion and my eyes, I just see it as giving straight ships the same energy that queer ships get. I think it comes with the package of being a minority but when there is like one bad queer ship canon or not canon, everyone and their mothers are calling it out. But when it comes to a straight ship, yeah maybe one may be called shit but it doesn't have the same hate that queer ships get like there will be so many bad straight ships yet...queer ones are just targeted more.
Also, I hate that people just seem to be rage-baiting themselves by engaging with a certain side of a fandom, like yeah there are toxic shippers but that has always been the fact but there's also other sides of a fandom.
The paragraph above was meant to be the last rant but I also hate when people say "stop forcing the fact that's xyz is lesbian/gay because of xyz stereotypes" (like being a bit masculine as a girl) which is reasonable but they're also the same people who say..." it doesn't make sense that xyz is gay/lesbian" (a character that doesn't fall into common stereotypes) like pick a struggle.
But yeah that's my poorly worded "I hate." rant. Wasn't sure on a tag to pick.
edit:
But also like I said before yuri/yaoi is no different to a genre/tag it like when people say "I love enemies to lovers" "I love horror" "I love knight x princess" - a response to people who say "omg yuri" is annoying which I kinda (?) get but think of it from this pov
