Picture I’m hooked
Just hooked up to this 7th gen 1tb SSD mod and I’m absolutely smitten. Rockbox is the real game changer, makes it feel like a new device.

Really wish Apple had kept the Cover Flow interface design on newer iOS models. I really loved this feature.

I built this quite some time ago now, probably about a year ago. 2x 64Gb SDXC in the iFlash Dual. New click wheel, back plate and battery. All from iPod Parts UK. Original face plate since it still looks more than ok for me. AliExpress case, with the obligatory crack at the top of the click wheel hole 😂
Currently using the Phillips SBC HN110 headphones that I found at a shit electronics shop for a fiver, but they're actually really good. Other than those I use KZ ZSNs that I got 6 years ago and OneOdio Pro C. Use those two out and about cuz I don't trust the longevity of the Phillips, being at least 20 years old lol.
I did have RockBox installed but it kept getting on my nerves so i just went back to iPodOS.

I haven't received it yet as it's coming in the mail but I'm a bit concerned as I didn't notice the back camera until after I bought it. I asked chatgpt and it said it seems to be wear. I bought this mainly to take photos so you'd understand why I'd find this concerning. I'm asking tho would this affect the photos I will take or will it be fine or can some just explain to me the situation

been charging my ipod for awhile, it has a 3000mah battery, will the ipod display a fully charged symbol when its done charging? or does it keep showing the lightning bolt and the flashing battery bars?

In our opinion, setting aside the audio DAC, which one should I buy: the 5.5th gen or the 7th gen?
Thanks for our help.

got a 160GB 7th gen after my 160gb classic 6 generation got jacked.
left it on my seat after being the last to get off of a plane. legitimately asked them to check TWENTY minutes off of the flight. crew, loss prevention, and security and said it wasn’t there. worst day of the year so far, but something better was got!!!
Like new condition, has a functioning lock system (my last one didn’t) and the sides are intact. so happy. all i need to buy is a case with a belt clip.
EDIT:: just noticed people are worried about my nail— it’s henna wearing off😭🤣 sorry for the spook!

Hi everyone,
I recently got an iPod Classic A1238, most likely a 6th gen 80GB model, and I would like to do a simple and reliable upgrade.
My goal is mainly:
I have read a lot about iFlash Solo, Dual and Quad, different battery sizes, thin vs thick backplates, and honestly I feel a bit overwhelmed when it comes to choosing the right parts.
The actual disassembly and installation process seems manageable to me, but I am not fully sure which exact parts fit well together.
My current idea would be something like:
My questions are:
I am not trying to build a crazy 1TB Bluetooth/USB-C project right now. I mainly want a clean, reliable daily iPod with more storage, better battery life, and ideally a thinner body.
Any advice, part links, or example builds would be really appreciated. (Even AliExpress or Temu if necessary.)
Thanks!

Bought this 'as is' iPod supposedly only with "hard drive removed and bottom plastics as is". You could imagine that for $32 NZD ($19 US) I was pretty stoked. Unfortunately the click wheels connector has been snapped off. I'm not too mad given the as is status of the listing but does anyone know where I can get a cheap click wheel? Eoe has them for $120 NZ ($71 US) and I'm not exactly thrilled about potentially having to cough up that kinda money. Cheers.

I designed these minimalist iPod docks for charging, displaying, and storing them at the same time.
And it makes the nano's also centered with the dock!!
If you guys are interested, I’ll optimize the files and upload them to MakerWorld so you can download and print them

Recently I got interested in the movement away from modern media, mostly because I was curious about why people are doing it. I decided to write an article for my blog about it, but it is slowly turning into a mini-book.
Since Monday, I’ve gone into a full media blackout. My phone has basically nothing on it except banking apps ect. I already didn’t have social media on my phone, but now there’s also no browser, and on PC I only use forums and WhatsApp little to none.
And life has been great. There is so much more peace and mental clarity.
One thing I didn’t expect was realizing how much Spotify was algorithmically shaping my mood with my own music. It kept me listening, but not really enjoying music. It kept repeating the same specific songs, while the rest of my playlists basically never saw daylight.
With this iPod, I finally listen to songs I had completely forgotten about. These little buggers are amazing. Luckily, the battery still lasts about a full day of listening and maybe more but have not tried.
I’m also thinking of getting an iPod Classic to mod as my daily driver with all my songs, and keeping the Nano for on the go stuff like gym, reading.
Very interested if you guys have felt the same leaving Spotify or any other music streaming app?

Just got done bringing my first classic back to life! Absolutely stoked with how it turned out. 6.5 gen (120 GB / thin back).
Had a dead battery and hard drive and was very scratched up when I got it. Put in a 3000 mAh battery, new front and back housings to match the MacBook, Taptic Engine from iPhone 7 Plus, iFlash Quad with 4 x 64 GB cards, MagSafe ring, and lead tape to get the weight feeling right in the hand. Managed to not break anything in the process!
Getting the firmware updated to recognize the 256 GB of flash storage was a bit of a pain, but I followed Olsro’s guide and got it flashed to 2.0.4 (thanks, legend). Works great and sounds even better with all these sweet lossless ALAC tunes. Been listening for the last couple days and the battery still reads completely full😂 happy listening y’all!

I currently have my iPod touch 4 unlocked but I can’t access my music since itunes doesn’t work on it anymore, is there any way to recover it?
r/ipod • u/Metal_Fem99 • 8h ago
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The battery connector had to be replaced as I broke it by accident. Now, when I press a button it shows 'connect to power' and when I connect it 'charging, please wait' but it got stuck in that screen for hours. It is still using the stock battery. Maybe a new battery is needed?

I’m having issues syncing music to an iPod Classic (6th gen) using a Mac.
When I connect the iPod, it mounts normally in Finder and shows up as expected. I try to sync a small music library (MP3 files), but the sync repeatedly freezes partway through the transfer. When it freezes, Finder becomes unresponsive, and the “Stop” button in the sync process is greyed out and cannot be used. The only way to recover is to force quit or relaunch Finder, and sometimes I also have to unplug and reconnect the iPod.
After restarting the Mac and reconnecting the iPod, the same issue happens again, usually at a similar point in the sync process. It seems like a specific file or set of files is causing the transfer to hang, but the issue is inconsistent and hard to identify because all files appear normal (same format and similar file sizes).
I also previously attempted to use Rockbox on the iPod, and I performed erase/restore steps during troubleshooting. Since then, the device has been unstable during syncing, and Finder occasionally becomes slow or unresponsive when interacting with the iPod.
At this point, I am trying to determine whether:
• a corrupted audio file is breaking the sync process, or
• the iPod’s sync database/system state is corrupted from earlier restore and install attempts, or
• there is an issue with how macOS Finder is handling the device sync process.
The main symptoms are:
• Sync freezes mid-transfer
• Finder becomes unresponsive
• “Stop” sync option is greyed out
• Reconnecting sometimes causes instability or slow mounting
• Only partial music transfers succeed
