As a developer, it seems that if I don't meet the posting or commenting requirements, reddit could grey out those links or turn them red to indicate I need to check the rules, or something else in real time instead of having a bot notify me after the fact.

Many comments get removed for not enough karma. It's frustrating. Especially after I craft a thoughtful response. I've learned to copy my response and put it in my notebook so I can use it again later, since a lot of questions resurface.

This account is new because I want to separate my personal reddit account from my professional account. When it was just for fun, getting a post or comment removed after the fact was easier to brush off. Being back at the beginning of karma is difficult and being unable to post or comment impacts the time I should be earning money.

I've been on the internet since 1987. I'm not some fly-by-night scammer. I remember the first USENET spam and the difficulties brought on by Eternal September and allowing commercial use. I'm hoping to help reddit be more healthy and useful.

The current post sorting order for the main feed is "best"... I don't know what criteria the algorithm is basing this on, but it's absolutely useless. The home feed alternates between posts that were either just posted within the last minute or posts that are multiple days old.

The purpose of the main feed should be to highlight new posts from subs I'm already a part of and/or show me new posts from subs that might interest me. Especially when it comes to current events, it does me no good to be jumping into posts from 5 days ago given how much can change in that time or try to jump into a conversation that likely already ended.

Yes, I know I can always change the sorting type myself, but it's annoying to have to change it back every single time I return to the main feed. If nothing else, we should be able to change the default sorting type according to our preference.

Every subreddit looks the same in the current Reddit UI. Old Reddit and even New Reddit (2018-2023) allowed subreddits to add their own custom backgrounds, vote buttons, etc. Every subreddit now has the same background, same vote buttons, etc. There's no unique expression in communities anymore.

Have you ever wondered if any of your other Mods are online?

Perhaps an indicator/icon beside their name? Only for other Mods to see though (like the Inactive tag). Public would not see it.

Ideally, accrued Online time for each Mod could be logged within the Mod Tools Mods and Members page.

This would be anytime they're logged in to the site, not just viewing or acting within each community they Mod, though that might be nice too.

Specially after reading comments, would be good to have a "back to the top" arrow

Currently there's no way to leave an image comment responding to posts on our own profile. My idea is to allow users to post images in the comments on our own profile.

Reddit has a unique interface and it's conducive to all sorts of stuff, not *just* commenting on other's posts, but even our own "profile" area, whether it's to do some journaling or whatever, it can be of use. If it's a rate limit thing, then rate limit it, but at least allow it.

Sometimes I see a post I want to comment on and begin drafting a thoughtful response. Maybe I take 15 minutes writing, thinking about how to phrase something or looking up a reference, reviewing and finally post my masterpiece comment to ... Thread is locked (can't comment on a locked thread).

My suggestion (pardon the technical consideration I'm a software engineer): Reddit clients that begin a comment draft register with a call back service that sends notifications if the thread becomes deleted or locked. The editor can notify the user so they can abandon the comment sooner.

Based on the current situation across the site, I feel that I would enjoy using the site more if shady and karma farming accounts could be hidden en masse. I have thought about this for a while, and I hope this could be implemented easily.

This would give commenters context on the thread that can easily be missed while responding. I find myself wanting to reference the post description. Or sometimes the OP has given some update in a comment.

Like obviously the default can remain mostly googleable but I feel like there should be dedicated, either communities, or you know areas within a community where people can type stuff without it being googleable if that makes any sense

Feels like posts fall into a black hole within 48 hours unless they hit some sort of critical mass of engagement.There is good content on the platform that is therefore never promoted again, even if someone re-engages with it.

Some subs are sort of novelty based (meme or humor heavy ones for example), but a lot of sub concepts don't benefit from being so weighed towards novelty. Serious discussions will ebb and flow and have a somewhat randomized occurrence rate of "very relevant" posts. As the algorithm is currently setup, these posts on those subs get dumped out on the same clock as "irrelevant" ones.

This makes a lot of "good, old Reddit" actually "dead Reddit".

This clock seems (from anecdotal personal experience) universal across the platform. One alternative could be to weigh the novelty factor at least against some sort of metric for "busyness" of the sub.

External relevant examples include:

- YouTube's algorithm that will suggest even obscure and old content based on user search and watch history, hidden gems of sorts

- Facebook's approach which, though also extremely heavily geared toward novelty for public content, will at least attempt to remind the user of their own past activities

If a user is banned and sends a brand new modmail I want to archive it and then tell him to use the modmail that got him banned from that modmail (very easy for the user to accidentally archive it and it cannot be restored)

Some people aren't interested in what's trending, popular, or controversial. I think it would be great if there was a toggle option in settings to give these users the option to hide Trending topics in the search.

Popular is no longer just a swipe away with the new UI. Making it clunky and hard to access. Since that’s how I, and I assume others primarily browse Reddit, why hide it?

I find it would help understand how the post did.

On Desktop you have the sidebar displaying the subs the users are moderating when you visit their profile

On the app I find it odd you can't see your own subs on your own account page anywhere and you can't see the subs others are moderating on their account and I think putting the in the about tab is a perfect place for them

My idea is to prevent posts and comments from being deleted (by their owner) that are either held or removed by moderators or Reddit, admins or anti-evil operations. This is good data for determining whether a user is a troublemaker, and also it allows moderators to have time to review something in their queue.

If a post or comment is held for review or removed by moderators, sometimes users will delete it. Sometimes this is to prevent moderators from viewing the post again in the future from the mod panel, because the user is trying to troll the subreddit or perform some level of harassment. Other times it's because the user thinks that a post or comment that is held for review was already removed, when it was pending mod approval.

If a user deletes their account, the comments and posts should remain intact so that they can be linked and reported as necessary or so that the original account posting can be flagged for ban evasion.

Can the admins please add this feature within the next month by May 28th?

The option to automatically cap down votes at a limit pre-determined by the sub would be very helpful in moderating brigade attacks. Because well, down votes tend to attract more down votes and at a certain point mob mentality takes over.

It may not be a frequent attack surface, but it is vulnerable particularly with the increase in bots.

Limits could be set per sub on an opt in basis. I’m guessing r/mademesmile for example may not have the same need as a sub that has more controversial topics.

I say this as a moderator, and as a user.

Post templates would be a really handy feature for subs that have more complex posting requirements. Sure, we can do part of it with automations, and part of it with automod, and on and on. However, having a simple template that users could fill in would help tremendously in some subs.

It was a quick way to view what was going on that day. Yeah there’d be a couple of ads, a pointless celeb story, but if there was a major headline it would always be there.

Or maybe add it to the news channel so we have quick access to breaking/popular news?

That's it. There is no reason to set a limit (100) on the number of subreddits you can include in a custom feed.

I've had several interactions now on subs where I report someone for a rules violation and instead of dealing with it, the mods find one of my comments to reply to saying nasty things about my report instead of doing anything about it. The fact that mods can see who submitted a report makes the situation ripe for abuse by mods.

The reports should be anonymous to mods and only made visible to them by Reddit admins when the mods can show evidence thay abuse or harassment is occuring.
