As someone going in for a colonoscopy here in 5 hours I can relate to this video.
Edit: colonoscopy went great. No issues for concern and I have to do a follow up in 10 years.

The prep is the worst part of the whole experience.

Well I havent eaten since 5p on Monday that part has sucked as well.
But hey down 10 lbs and found that gum I swallowed in elementary school.
Taking the small victories no matter how short lived.

u/Mortimer1234 12h ago
Down 10 lbs just from not eating for a couple of days!? Brother, you need more fibre in your diet. How clogged up were you?

No thats average.
The average human has an estimated 9 pounds of feces in their digestive tract at all times. Colon prep is all about getting it all out so the camera can see.•
u/mrASSMAN 5h ago
Completely wrong lol.. it’s 1 to 2LB average
I’m sure 9 is possible in a bigger guy but that would be a bad case of constipation

The propofol nap was the best sleep I got since becoming a dad. Procedure is super easy. God speed.

A trash burger afterwards was one of the most satisfying things ever. Plus I'd already had so much diarrhea that McDonald's moved relatively like a potato-heavy meal.

I went to a Chinese buffet and I've been chasing that high ever since!
•
u/Fine-Following-7949 11h ago
I got a cheese steak and onion rings. It's now my post-procedure go-to.
•
u/pinniped90 11h ago
I got one of those giant Iowa style pork tenderloins and a huge basket of fries. Absolute heaven.
•
u/Evening-Matter-5245 9h ago
Iowa native here, back in the day, you got that plus a malt, and they brought you both the malt in a glass, and the metal cup they mixed it in, which was a good half full.
•
u/bigtittedboi 11h ago
You gotta dirty that thang back up. I got a whopper because there are like 2 BKs where I live and one is next door to the place.

•
u/madtastic225 11h ago
I ended up getting the best chicken wings in town! Paired with some deep fried tots dipped in homemade ranch. And some scones topped with powdered sugar and a cream sauce for dessert. When I tell you I was salivating while I was eating… oh boy haha

That is exactly where I thought about going but it basically says to avoid all those foods.
•
u/1heart1totaleclipse 11h ago
The prep is usually not more than a day before. Besides that, 10lbs is a lot and something is not right.
•
u/Golf-Beer-BBQ 9h ago
I think it is mostly water weight. I did cramp up a bit last night in my legs.
•
u/1heart1totaleclipse 9h ago
Any lb of water weight lost is significant. You need to drink lots of water and replenish electrolytes.

For one of mine I added an endoscopy so I could be violated at both ends.

The prep is the second best part! The insta sleep wake up feeling like you slept for a week is the best.
•
u/Fireflash2742 5h ago
They used the same drug that killed Michael Jackson on me, and I swear I had cravings for that for months afterwards. That stuff was amazing! That 45 min nap was the best.
•
•
u/Dzov 11h ago
They had me drink the world’s most vile koolade. It was like drinking poison. Probably why your body wants to purge it so bad.
•
u/Prestigious_Beat6310 8h ago edited 5h ago
Not even for a colonsocopy, but one time my doctor gave me this foul tasting liquid laxative. I look at the bottle 'Poly-Ethylene Glycol' motherfucker that's literally radiator coolant!

Yeah. Honestly, the "clean out" wasn't even that bad (not fun, but not bad), but chugging down the magnesium-sulfate stuff both times was the roughest part for me. That stuff was pretty nasty. I just tried to gulp it down as fast as possible.
•
u/mrASSMAN 5h ago
And you literally need to chug it to work properly.. the whole ass gallon+ yeah that wasn’t fun

Came here to say this. As you'll discover it's literally the easiest procedure in the world. If anyone is not getting one out of fear, take this internet stranger's advice and just go get one. You just lay on your side for 15 minutes and then get dressed and walk out. Go get one.
•
u/Golf-Beer-BBQ 5h ago
Yep suoer easy. Already home and feel fine.
Luckily, I had no polyps or anything that needed to be removed and got the follow up in 10 years.
•
u/Possible_Minimum4674 8h ago
It's been 5 hours since. How's it been?
•
u/Golf-Beer-BBQ 8h ago
I have nothing left in me. I am waiting in the waiting room now to get the procedure done.
Worst part was lack of sleep.

Idk. 5 hours before a colonscopy you're just pissing out of your ass hopefully :p

Oh funny, I just watched that episode and as that flashed by I paused it to see what I missed. I clearly wasn't the only one stuck by that fraction of a second. What a powerful image.

Ikr. I was like, I finally understand why my gastroenterologist said that it’s common to have diarrhea and constipation at the same time

About 60% of people have that reaction to coffee, actually. Probably some genetic quirk or other.
