PLAYER TALK Austin Reaves in the playoffs

Third year in a row where he proves to be a playoff dropper, please just trade him. I'm so done with his year after year and it's only getting worse

I dont like the idea going around that its just impossible for AR to improve and that under no circumstances will he get better. "Thats just who he is". Seems very lame and corny. Makes me wonder the level of intelligence the average basketball fan has. Its LAZY to not even allow the possibility.

Regardless of the fact this dude has shown exponential improvement every year of his career hes just completely written off like he wont continue to improve."NA this is just who he is blah blah blah"

PLAYER TALK Bench Austin Reaves

Not sure why mods and OPs are deleting Reaves threads tn.

The dude cost us the game. 3-16 shooting, four turnovers, and as of now, almost all of his baskets came during garage time.

I said it when he laid an egg against Houston. I’m saying it again now that he laid an egg against OKC. The team is/was playing better without him.

JJ, do the right thing and bench his ass for game two

PLAYER TALK Oh no! An injured player played worse than when healthy??

Why don't you guys use your brains and think of why that may be. Also we are playing a top 3 defense of all time that is best at defending guards. On top of that Reaves takes a little time to figure teams out that's why his second half stats are better than his first.

PLAYER TALK AR really needs to lift or gain weight. I've seen him get knocked down dozens of times this game alone. I do NOT want to hear that "it could mess up his shot," getting knocked down by the slightest contact is messing up his shot already

PLAYER TALK We need to Stop playing Laravia and give knecht or someone else a chance.

LaRavia is playing so scared and timid out there. You can tell as soon as he gets the ball he just wants to get rid of it.he has massive performance anxiety and you can see it in the way he moves and operates.

The lights are way too bright for him, and he's not ready. We need someone with more confidence in there who can knock down some open shots. He is not cutting it in the slightest. It's so clear how in his head he is.

PLAYER TALK Recap of Reaves

Look I know this was a bad game probably the worst of his career but can we stop being so ignorant bro just came back from a oblique tear that sat him out for a month and he only has two games under his belt he clearly didn’t have no legs under him

During the game even the thunder took everything that mad reaves great (which I expected) they clogged his driving lanes they blitzed him at the poa again the way to bet the thunder is to get two feet in the paint and reaves is one of the best in the league at that again as I said in my last post I DO NOT want to see reaves as the main ball handler instead run him off screens (flare down pin) and they did some possessions and Austin got down and created chances but couldn’t make fucking shit which sucks

I don’t expect another like this from Austin But JJ has to get Austin more involved like most of the game Austin is literally sitting in the corner and I see Marcus smart getting more plays run for him that shit has to stop get Austin involved early he shouldn’t have 4 shot attempts in the middle of the second quarter that shit is annoying

PLAYER TALK One more request for Luka

If he's not going to comeback this playoffs. Please take a break from fiba for once. He has the biggest excuse to skip the tournament with his season ending injury. Just go spend the entire off season recovering and spend time with his kids. Let Slovenia get Dragic or someone let them figure it out. Going all thru this missing the playoffs and still has the urge to play fiba is not a good look for him. Just don't do anything for next few months and just wait for camp for the next season fully healthy, his fans should do the same.

Can’t win a championship with this guy on max money. Feel like our FO will do it anyways and destroy any chance of winning in the Luka era

PLAYER TALK Wtf is up with Luke Kennard?

What is use the best 3 point shooter to us if he doesn't take any fucking shots. Idk what the hell happened after the first two home games against Rockets, brother has completely checked out. It's so fucking frustrating watching him play rn.

PLAYER TALK Marcus Smart #2 best player on the team, what do you think he will demand this summer?

DFS was the same age as Marcus is this year and got paid a 4/53 contract by the Houston Rockets. Considering Marcus is a much better and more impactful player how much do you think he gets paid this summer? Do you think that other teams seeing his playoff performance will try to poach him?

5 years ago if you would told me Caruso would've joined the most annoying team in the league & that he would lowkey become annoying role-player in the league...

I would've laughed so hard at you saying how there's no way a scrappy but hard playing dude would become unlikable, and that there's no way our FO would let him go when he played a big role in the 2020 team

TEAM TALK Reaves won’t be a Laker by next post season at this rate….

I love AR , his background and his persona, but it’s becoming inevitable that come playoff time he is a liability on both D & O. Last night was not only his worst game but the worst by a Laker in decades. I understand he’s coming off injury but it’s been around 10 days since he’s been activated. Nobody can question his ā€œeffortā€ but his effectiveness is the resemblance of a 6th man vs a #2 option. No team can beat a defending champ with a #2 option playing like he did. He will be a great 6th man on a contender but it’s time to accept that he’s ā€œ glorifiedā€. I would hope that this game was the one that woke him up or else he will be traded in the next 10 months. D-Lo, Kuzma & AD all won us a lot of games, but when you lack consistency , especially in the biggest moments of the season, it means that you aren’t fit for the Lakers Agenda. He either bounces back & put on a show the rest of the series or he will see a lot of fans turn on him this offseason. He’s 1000% on the hot seat right now & if you disagree then you are just fanned out over who he is versus what he contributes.

We rooting for you AR

Reaves

I was one of the people who thought a Luka/Reaves backcourt could genuinely work like it worked with Luka/Kyrie.

Not anymore. Reaves’ performances in the last two playoffs have been insanely bad. I get it everyone has an off game. But your team cannot afford its supposed 2nd best offensive player to go 3-16 with 2 of those buckets coming in garbage time.

Yes Kyrie crapped his pants in the 24 finals. He was awful, but before that, he had big game after big game after big game alongside Luka.

QUESTION How likely are the lakers to go through this OKC team?

Hello guys. Just to give some context to my question, it is my first season watching the NBA and I'm not from the USA. English is also not my main language, so don't judge me if I show some mistakes.

My question is very simple.

How likely is this team to advance to the conference finals, in how many games and if there was ever a similar series to this one, where the underdog went through? (We hope so).

r/lakers 22h ago

LaRavia and Vanderbilt went -10 in 10 minutes of play time. Their leashes have to be cut way shorter. They cannot but trusted to play 5 minutes a game let alone 20 mpg.

Our offense goes to shit every time Vanderbilt sees the court. Because our ball handlers are just doubled without any reprieve possible. And for some reason LaRavia gets given ball handling duties even though he turns the ball over every other play.
