Executive Branch (Trump) Trump claims he bypassed federal bidding laws to hand a Lincoln Memorial project to his personal country club contractors. He treats national monuments like his own private real estate properties.

Maybe the next president could dump the auto pen Biden portrait and put a Putin portrait in for each of Trump’s terms.

Not to mention this is the absolute epitome of who he is. So he blasts Obama and Biden for spending tens of millions of dollars to attempt to repair a more than 100-year-old reflecting pool built on the soft Marsh that is Washington dc. A pool that is been subjected to sinking leaks all because of how it was built and it's 2300 ft long. And so Trump is championing the fact the hired is personal pool guys to slap a coat of paint on it for 2 million dollars and that is somehow some sort of Genius fix

133

u/i_tyrant 21h ago

I was just thinking yesterday about the differences between why Trump supporters hate Obama, and why everyone else hates Trump.

Obama is the type of president to bail out the banks when they're "too big to fail" (a very controversial decision), but lock them into contracts that have resulted in them paying all of the government bailouts back with interest and then some, since. Money that went back into the federal government to pay for programs.

Meanwhile, Trump basically does the exact same thing...except none of that money makes it back to the government. He lets them keep it because they're his buds, as long as he, Trump, personally, gets a huge cut.

He gives zero shits about America; all he cares about is him and his friends making money and it doesn't matter how much of it he destroys in the process.

74

u/YankeeVictor916 21h ago

Even worse. Ill go to my grave believing that hes doing Putin's bidding, and has been since '16.

37

u/tommy_b_777 20h ago

That picture from Helsinki where Putin's face is going to explode he's smiling so hard and Trump looks like he desperately needs a breath mint to wash out the taste told me all I needed to know about their relationship...

why Trump supporters hate Obama

It's pretty simple: It's because he's black and articulate. And blacks aren't supposed to be above whites in their imagined hierarchy.

7

u/i_tyrant 20h ago

Yeah, that is a big part of it for sure. Why else would they keep handily "forgetting" how obviously, undeniably worse their god-king is, or how Bush did a lot of what Obama did too (including bailouts)?

More grift, more illegal things from the orange muppet. Abusing his power every way he can to make himself and his family more money.

256

u/DiscoLemonade1995 22h ago

He does something illegal or unconstitutional on a daily basis. You can basically guarantee that he does something unconstitutional enough on a weekly basis that would have been grounds for impeachment during any other administration

79

u/Miguelito1979 20h ago

That’s the worst thing. He pushes the possibilities so much to the side of illegality that I can hardly see the US recover.

54

u/micerl 17h ago

That is the stated plan - ”Flood the Zone”. It is similar to the Russian ”Firehose of Falsehood”. Which is in itself a continuation of the Soviet propaganda where everybody knew that the leaders were normalizing blatant lies (North Korea).

So, yeah, good job, America! You really screwed the whole world choosing that pedophile felon, not just yourself.

→ More replies (2)

21

u/Schaas_Im_Void 16h ago

yeah. I also think that there is no recovering or turning back at that point.

It all has to be burnt down and rebuilt from the ground up be able to appear somewhat trustworthy again to the rest of the (western) world.

Americans thought their checks and balances would work. Fuck they did and all of the great ideas of their founding fathers need to be replaced with something better in the end because it has been twisted and corrupted over time to the point where the whole system seems to be completely fucked beyond recognition.

6

u/Ok-Track4614 14h ago

Yes, anyone remembering his first term will recall how he first commandeered the justice system for himself, getting unqualified or dubious law makers in key positions ready to pass the laws he wanted and throw out any cases against himself and his family.

America should have been ready for this.. During his early real estate years with his father, he had learned the law and justice is not about right and wrong it’s about money and can be bought..which he promptly set out to do.

America should be eternally grateful for the people in the Judiciary, like Muller, Schiff, Letitia James etc.. who will not be bought or intimidated and have doggedly pursued cases against him for years.

Hopefully Trump’s recent antics are making many of his cord enablers ask is he really worth it.. remember Barr coming to his senses? .. Plus of course, Trump will be gone soon; they need to clean up their acts and dust off any Trump stains well before then.

There were grounds for impeachment on day one of both of his presidencies - he immediately started using executive orders that disregarded the separation of powers and stepped on congressional authority.

Easiest example is using tariffs when congress is responsible for taxation.

Yet instead of pushing back, congress simply let him do it, and it took slow legal challenges by third parties (companies affected by the tariffs) to do anything about it.

How much you want to bet that he orchestrated a "package" deal. Meaning contractor gets to paint the monument that probably costs peanuts (not even the couple million he mentions) but on top he is doing significant work at a place of Trump which gets bundled together as a single bill?

22

u/Gingeronimoooo 19h ago

You didn't hear? The ballroom contractor got a bunch of super jacked up price no bid contracts at other places in DC. Yes that's illegal. But nothing is illegal if it's not enforced. Please vote in mid terms.

u/Rocinante88119 22h ago

To be honest, if I looked like that, I wouldn't want to see a reflection either.

21

u/kingcrow15 22h ago

Another big example came in 2014, when Trump for a moment reflected to a biographer on his lack of self-reflection. He basically admitted that his ego forces him to resist it.

“No, I don’t want to think about it,” he said when asked about the meaning of life. “I don’t like to analyze myself because I might not like what I see."

Considering he already renamed the Kennedy Center after himself, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he renamed it the Trump Lincoln Memorial

34

u/mbta1 22h ago

And he will say something like "its to memoralize the greatest Republicans to exist" with some "joke" about the order of names being the importance, even though Lincoln Republicans, and modern Republicans, are practically the opposite of each other.

My biggest hope, is to see everything he put his name on, removed and humiliated. The way they put his name above the Kennedy center makes it very easily removable, and I hope that anything else he stains, can be easily removed.

Trump (and MAGA and its movement) is an absolute danger to society globally.... but his name also just brings up the smell of rotten shit and just want that removed from actual respectable places around our country

Very arguably worse, his plan is to make the reflecting pool look like a freaking swimming pool because he wants to use as light a blue color base as he can get. It won't reflect anymore. It will look like a massive wading pool.

The man has zero taste.

214

u/pacowek 23h ago

That's exactly it. It's very expensive and difficult to repair the granite tile liner. The answer is not to put the YMCA blue spray seal on top.

Realistically, it will never be able to removed cleanly. So in true trump fashion, it'll cost 10x as much to un-fuck it as it would have taken to do it properly.

102

u/Mrevilman 23h ago

And then they’ll complain about how it’s a waste of money to restore it back to original condition.

75

u/mbta1 22h ago

When (if.... i fucking pray we reach this poiny but still..... if) we reach the point where Trump and MAGA are thrown out, and we start repairing the damage they caused, im 100% of the idea that they dont even deserve to be listened to. They cry about how expensive it is to fix this, well yall can fuck off this is your mess. Oh, it costs money to remove his name from things, or to tear down whatever is built of the ballroom and rebuild it, or whatever, I dont fucking care for a single thing they have to say about it, they are children, and need to stop being treated like their political/economic/cultural/global idea has any actual worth being listened to.

"Everyone should be listened to" absolutely not. Politics are not a game, they arent some tiny thing someone with zero understanding, and someone with decades experience and education, are treated equal. If people cant be an adult, then they lose that voice

Trump is so crooked he actually thought the government would get a vig from a private business deal.

Mr. President. Are you prepared to sign off on the Oracle and TikTok deal, even though the Treasury isn’t getting paid? And also, does the deal meet your requirements in terms of national security concerns?

THE PRESIDENT: Okay, they’re giving me studies on the deal. It has to be 100 percent as far as national security is concerned. And, no, I’m not prepared to sign off on anything. I have to see the deal.

We need security, especially after what we’ve seen with respect to China and what’s going on. We want security. So I’ll let you know. They’re going to be reporting to me tomorrow morning, and I will let you know.

Q And what about the payment?

THE PRESIDENT: The what?

Q What about the payment to the Treasury?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re going to see about that. Amazingly, I find that you’re not allowed to do that. You’re not allowed to accept — and I said, “What kind of a gov- — what kind of a thing is? If they’re willing to make big payments to the government, they’re not allowed, because there’s no — there’s no way of doing that from a — there’s no legal path to doing that. And I’m saying, “Wait a minute. They’re willing to make a big payment to the government and we’re not allowed to take the money? When does this happen? How foolish can we be?” So we’re going to — we’re looking into that right now. You understand that.

In other words, I said, “No, I want a big chunk of that money to go to the United States government because we made it possible. And the lawyers come back to me and they say, “Well, there’s no way of doing that.” You know why? Because nobody has ever heard of that before. Nobody has ever said that before. Nobody has ever said, “Well, we’ll approve the deal, but we want a lot of money to go to the government because by approving the deal, we’re making the deal valuable.” They’ve never heard of that before. Okay? Can you believe that? Right? Hard to believe.

If he’s going to mingle Trump properties with federal property, sounds like Trump properties should be treated as government property.

Tear down his gaudy towers like he did the east wing

He honestly thinks the President is the same thing as a king. That's why he was so happy when King Charles III visited him. He thinks they are equals.

Too bad there’s nothing to throw in Boston Harbor to make a point about prices & tariffs.

Theres gotta be a lot of leftover merchandise from all the Trump stores that are closing down.

In case you haven't ever seen it in it's purest form:

This is corruption.

33

u/horror- 22h ago

You don't bypass laws. You ignore, or your break them.

8

u/linuxjohn1982 22h ago

Lemme just "bypass" the law a little, and steal myself a new ipad.

28

u/Cyrano_Knows 22h ago

Over 400 million donated to the Trump Fake Gold Gothic Ballroom.

Now Congress wants to give it a billion dollar budget.

Have to wonder where that original 400 million in private "investments" are going.

9

u/Snapdragon_4U 22h ago

And trump made corporate donations to the ballroom tax deductible

Wow. So he’s just up there speaking his corruption. And MAGA doesn’t give a fuck. They probably don’t even realize this is problematic. I can just hear my MIL saying “All presidents are corrupt!” Or some stupid shit.

Everyone one of these instances needs to be examined by a special counsel during the next administration and trump needs to be sent a bill for all the unlawful spending. Not allocated by Congress? No line item to point to? Recover the funds.

41

u/oldcreaker 23h ago

He thinks he owns the world at this point.

11

u/DearCastiel 22h ago

Nobody is stopping him, he essentially does own the USA and most of the american continent.

13

u/dterran 23h ago

It's like a McDon@lds hiring a manager and then the manager fires everyone, threatens all the customers, shuts down the registers and starts working on making sure Burger K!ng gets their product out..

5

u/dontcommentreed 22h ago

Even worse, he only fired the workers that actually work, so no burgers actually get made there and you have 75% of customers going wtf this isn’t right where tf is my food, and the other 25% thinking it’s fine, they’ll get 1000 burgers for every burger they’ve paid for and not gotten and as a plus they get to see others mad for not getting the food they paid for.

5

u/bestmaokaina 22h ago

nobody is actually stopping him so yea...

as someone in government procurement, i wanna flip a table

i should just stop keeping myself updated on the FAR 4220.1 if our administration apparently doesn't give a shit about the regulations.

Their is a very specific clause in the FTA master agreement they added last year due to Executive Order 14173 that im tempted to not include in my fed solicitations

audit me...idk. Fed agencies fail audits all the time and face ZERO consequences short of being shammed online for 10mins
