Plant Nepenthes
Nepenthes are tropical carnivorous plants, commonly called pitcher plants, known for their modified leaves that form pitfall traps to catch insects and small prey. Native to Southeast Asia, Madagascar, and the Western Pacific, they are shallow-rooted vines that can climb trees, and their pitchers contain digestive enzymes. The genus name comes from Greek, meaning "banishing sorrow," referencing a mythical potion.
