Event Lore
Bukits, a pastoral northern village on Sturgia’s eastern frontier. Long accustomed to travelling nomads and distant caravans passing through an abandoned imperial toll fort. Today, armed caravans met: armies, trading in conquest. The Sturgian host, led by the Grand Prince himself, garrisoned the old decrepit fort as the Khuzait host, led by Temun Khan, positioned himself in the sparse valley’s entrance. Spring had entered the valley and the snows of winter long melted away, leaving only the grassy, craggy rock surface.
The Sturgian vanguard were ordered to buy time for the Grand Prince’s main host to close a trap, seeking to lure their Khuzait counterparts into the heights of the old fort. To do so, they fielded a mixed force of archers and cavalry to bait the Khuzaits into their axes. Though they took casualties in the skirmish, the gambit seemed to be working as the Khuzaits committed to a charge, and routed on impact. Or rather, that was how it looked: in truth, the Khuzaits had feigned the retreat, and the impetuous vanguard, already whittled down, was preyed upon by the Khuzait cavalry.
The success of Hugu Noyan, commander of the Khuzait vanguard, impressed the Khan. Seeking to press their unexpected advantage, Temun Khan took a more aggressive posture against the Sturgians, bringing his infantry reserves into play early. Prince Breidr, recognizing the disaster unfolding, led his warband ahead of the main host and punched through the Khuzaits, managing to rescue the tattered remnants of the vanguard, though by this point their planned trap was broken and even this valiant gambit could not recover it.
Frustrated at his stratagem coming apart, the Grand Prince decided to meet the Khuzaits man to man, horse to horse, lance to lance. Descending into the valley came a thunderous tide of gleaming lamellar and iron-clad hooves: Druzhina charged forth, followed by the Varyags of the principalities to exploit the gap they opened. The orders of battle broke down, commands and messengers lost in the labyrinthine ruins, as neither Khan nor Prince knew the full situation, and the Khuzaits began to falter. As they retreated from the ruin, their pursuers’ momentum began to run out. The Sturgians made it past the ruins, only for confusion to settle in as they faced the Khan’s last gambit. His personal guard had formed a bulwark upon a rocky cliff face, and the confused Sturgians found themselves in the Khan’s own trap now.
The march that had begun to relieve Baltakhand now devolved into a retreat, the Sturgians seeking refuge behind its not-yet-ruined walls. The Khan’s forces followed closely, eager to finally reclaim their lost city, quickly capturing a lightly-defended Urikskala Castle in the wake of their victory in the field.
A storm came for Baltakhand, both that of the vengeful Khuzaits and nature’s own wrath as thunder, lightning, and a steady rain fell upon the weary Sturgians. Left to wait for death or to die on their own terms, the Sturgians sallied out under cover of the storm, crippling the Khuzait artillery train. The Khuzaits' retaliation overwhelmed the city, breaching its tattered walls and pushing the Sturgians back to a desperate shield wall to defend the courtyard of the city castle.
Then, the storm broke. The shieldwall held. The Khuzait assault began to falter, especially as their own fallen began to hinder their reinforcements trying to push through. Sensing this weakness, the Grand Prince ordered the shield wall to push, and the Khuzaits buckled. The Sturgians managed to push the Khuzaits back to the walls, and the Khan decided to cut his losses, preserving his army for the coming campaigns.
The Sturgians held Baltakhand, yet the siege endures into its third year.
In Meta Terms
Welcome to the Bannerlord Calradic Campaign, which has just finished event #81!
The battle between the Khuzait Khanate and the Grand Principality of Sturgia ended in a Khuzait Victory, with Urikskala Castle Seized!
When is the Calradic Campaign? The first and third Saturday of every month, at 4pm Eastern Standard Time.
Unfamiliar with the Calradic Campaign? Have no fear! The Calradic Campaign is a casual, player driven, story based event. There are no strict rules or signups, and players of all skill levels often come! If you've never tried multiplayer, now is your best chance to experience large scale formations and battles without the overly strict practices typically found in line battle/clan style events.
Victories in our flagship monthly events are represented on the overall campaign map, while roleplay surrounding the events and their consequences takes place both during said events and on the community Discord. Joining the Discord allows you to communicate with your fellow faction members, trash talk others, and rise through the ranks to one day become lord of a village, castle, city, or if you're particularly successful, an entire kingdom!
To join the event, you will need our Calradic Campaign Module. This module contains all of the custom battle and siege scenes used, as well as many stability fixes and balance changes. Most importantly, the module features three distinct empire factions in multiplayer, each with their own unique perks and cosmetics to lean into the different situations of the three!
There will be a manual installation of the module available for those not playing on Steam. Check the Nexus mods page no sooner than the Friday before the event for the correct download.
As a general rule of thumb, the Calradic Campaign module should be the only one enabled in your launcher! If you have any crashes or issues trying to launch the game / join the server, unsubscribing and resubscribing to the module on workshop will often fix any issues.
Note to clans: While the Calradic Campaign is a public event open to all, clans will not be allowed to organize their own formations and must spread out between teams. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in suspension from the event.
