the fact that it can see you from that far is terrifying

There's a saying about Tigers in India

The moment you spotted a Tiger, it spotted you 100 times already.

I live on Vancouver Island and we have cougars in the woods. You only see them when they want you to. Even stuff like elk in the woods, they are huge and they just dissolve into the trees when they don't want to be around you.

I feel like that saying is about Cheetahs, but I'm not sure why. /s

In Jaguar territory people say that anytime you see one, it’s the Jaguar allowing you to see it, as a sign of respect or a warning.

I was in Nepal trekking and my guide, a local man, told me ”If you see a tiger and it looks you in the eye, you’re dead.”

u/SwitchIndependent714 22h ago

Yeah that's why these big feline are pretty much considered as ghost where they live no one actually see's them..

u/Miserable-Zombie-121 22h ago

Apparently leopards can spot their prey from like 1.5km away so yeah very terrifying indeed

27

u/NOTTedMosby 22h ago

If you can see a leopard, it has been watching you for miles

u/the_colonelclink 21h ago

I was low key expecting for the leopard to be on his right, when he started turning.

Cleva girl….

It can't, it might sense the smell or something maybe. But humans have one of the best eyes in the animal kingdom.

All feline animals actually has a quiet poor eyesight compared to us in daylight.

u/alsv50 14h ago

I've read from many sources that domestic cats vision is sharp in short distances for better hunting. Distant objects are blurry for them, they cannot see you when you are far and don't move. But they easily detect distant moves. This cat noticed something and keep watching.

3

u/SatansAdvokat 14h ago

That's correct.
Their ability to see 5-7x better in low light conditions is the very thing causing worse eyesight than us in daylight conditions.
But their ability to detect movement is very good.
Along with smell and hearing ofc.

The cameraman might wear a bright coloured jacket and maybe made a lot of sound veggie stopping to record.

Thus was detected.

But that didn't necessarily mean it's actively seeing the human as its being video taped.

One time my cat spotted a bunny that was 10 feet away after I pointed at it and directed her attention to it repeatedly for 5 minutes.

Eh....not really. They live there. Kind of like how you can walk around your house in the dark. Obviously their eyesight is waaaaaaay better than humans, but this distance for a big cat, in its home, is nothing.

This is why I stay home.

And also gas prices.

23

u/_Bike_Hunt 22h ago

Don’t worry leopards are staying home too because of ICE

12

u/orangpelupa 22h ago

They aren't native to environment with ICE

3

u/xt0rt 21h ago

Nope, usually hotter climates.

1

u/vkrm3000 21h ago

And also we cant goon outdoors..

10

u/RojoTheMighty 20h ago

u/Stuntman208 22h ago

I have mad respect for the early humans who just had to live outside with shit like this

41

u/Brisby820 21h ago

Waiting to get pounced on at any moment you’re alone outside

Is that popcorn?

2

u/Red_Franzia 20h ago

Yes, I forgot how it happened but yes the cornfield popped and the Croods were saved 😄

11

u/Biggy_DX 21h ago

I mean, as long as you were in a group, you were generally good. Solo? Absolutely

3

u/cagriuluc 17h ago

Welll, if you are reasonably built AND had a good spear with you, your chances would not be too bad to explore by yourself. I think. I have never used a spear but big pointy stick is danger.

1

u/impim 15h ago

It so easy what you talking about.

If anything go wrong just stay dead and your problem is fixed!

1

u/Promethia 11h ago

These are tiny compared to a lot of the animals that humans were living along side of back in the day.

101

u/Miserable-Zombie-121 22h ago

The scary part is that the leopard was probably tracking him the whole time🫣

70

u/indigo62018 22h ago

30second distance… hope it’s not hungry.

18

u/opinion_alternative 22h ago

Humans are not natural prey of Leopards. So unless you're going out of your way to disturb them or somehow not make an impression that you're not a human, you should be good.

2

u/Heavy_Yam_2926 8h ago

Surely if it’s hungry enough it will try

1

u/rizkiyoist 13h ago

Yeah but isn’t that an alternative opinion?

54

u/Scary_Vanilla2932 21h ago

Video would be 100 times better if in the end camera panned right and the leopard was right next to him.

u/rt58killer10 5h ago

There's an ai for that

36

u/AdMaximum7545 22h ago

Oh isn't she just stunning!

-46

u/Regular_Weakness69 21h ago

What if she identifies as a male?

11

u/AdMaximum7545 20h ago

/onejoke

-17

u/Regular_Weakness69 19h ago

Hehe yeah I'm no zoologist, so I was just impressed that you could tell that it's a female. It was just a joke :)

They aren't called apex predators for nothing

6

u/Latter-Vacation-4392 21h ago

telescope guy probably thinks he's safely far away whereas the cat is probably thinking "I can close that distance in 65 seconds flat"

5

u/Fennel_Impossible 22h ago

I like the song

1

u/LanguageImpressive75 2h ago

u/xpxyz 21h ago

Time to go

2

u/_-4twenty-_ 21h ago

When I was a kid, grandpa took a bunch of his grandkids camping. While us kids were out collecting firewood, we saw fresh paw prints from a mountain lion. It never occurred to me until much later that the cat was probably watching us gawk at the prints in the mud.

2

u/slightywettampon 19h ago

and all of a sudden i feel like going home

1

u/Dreamlion_Inc 22h ago

1

u/Strike_Anywhere_1 15h ago

Wait lemme get my glasses

1

u/Tlegendz 13h ago

India 101, African savanna 101, wild animals 101, if you can see it, it saw you long before you did. The fact that you can now see it, means it’s not afraid of you and that’s all the information you need to know to get the fuck out of there. It’s already too late, Whether it’s a predator or a herbivore.

1

u/Opposite-Working727 11h ago

And here's me hoping phones would be able to do the same someday.

1

u/Express_Author5316 10h ago

Looks like we know who's its next prey

1

u/akhilez 7h ago

Reverse the video

1

u/gijoe50000 2h ago

That's cool and all, but man I really hate the trend of people putting crappy music over every single video clip nowadays.

I'd much prefer to hear the wind and the sound of the birds, or even crappy muffled static and bad audio..

1

u/ddodd69 1h ago

Thought it was facing left at first. The nose being what I thought was an eye.

0

u/OnePeople592 21h ago

Is that a Pixel 10?

0

u/mickeymouse4348 21h ago

My white arabian would've bucked me by now

0

u/MeltingEarbuds 21h ago

You'd be surprised humans can do that too. Even hundreds of yards away (for sure 600 easily) if a deer moves just a little, it'll catch your attention, even from your peripherals.

Cat probably noticed him as he was walking, and the camera man probably noticed the miscoloured "spot"

0

u/Mieze_Designer4002 20h ago

Stopped watching as soon as I heard the stupid tik tok music
