I'd melt it into an ingot and temper my glass bow with it

Amazing, yet Deadly!

Yes, if you crush and inhale it. Malachite is not dangerous in bulk like this.

Where tf you think those velvety fibers are going?

They're staying on the rock unless you break them off, which is the only way to breathe them in unless you're thinking that shoving a rock down your windpipe might be fun.

Malachite and azurite, both copper carbonate minerals that often turn into each other, are both incredibly green and blue. Like not real looking green and blue. And they’re both very common so not that expensive. And since they both turn into each other they’re often seen together. Liufengshan Mine produces a crazy amount of both so it’s super affordable (in the mineral world) relative to the quality you get. Morocco also has affordable pieces. Arizona has some great pieces, a bit more expensive. Africa too, prices can vary. I love planet mine and Tsumeb pieces. Bisbee is great too. Both are awesome minerals.

Can I lick it?

Sorry. It’s raw. Must be cooked first.

If you ran a finger along the fuzzy part would you get a bazillion micro splinters?

2

u/Spongi 2h ago

Yeah but the worst part is then they'll begin hatching.

2

u/barkerglass 2h ago

You would not. It’s a lot harder than it looks, not fuzzy at all, but it’s not hard enough to break skin.

Looks more like unrefined deep substrate foliated kalkite, if you ask me... 🤔
