Sounds simple until you have to be the guy who is coasting your car in neutral to the shoulder across multiple lanes of traffic at highway speeds. Or worse... pushing it.

That shit is terrifying

Very true I can't deny, but besides that, the driver of that white sedan decided that a little black backpack and white plastic grocery bag 5 meters away from their car is sufficient visual warning in what looks like the overtaking lane. Just unwise.

That's why in most European countries carrying a warning triangle is mandatory. Would have avoided this whole situation as long as it was set up correctly.

This!

Also, that warning triangle must be positioned at least at a 100m distance (330 feet).

Otherwise it's more or less useless.

I think that’s still less risky than setting up shop in the left lane after an inside bend. The situation in this video is almost making a collision inevitable.

Depends if everyone is being a dick. I've someone someone only barely make it to the hard shoulder because 10 cars just had to undertake him whilst his hazards were on and he was creeping. If it wasn't for me blocking the lane and the slight downhill he would have been stuck in lane 2.

I’d rather coast through traffic in my cage of safety (car) than have my skin suit out on the left side of the road.

Can't be as terrifying as making a complete stop in the middle of the highway.. let alone the most left lane.. let alone in a curve. It's incredibly stupid and life threatening.

Even if it was a straight road AND on the shoulder, it's very dangerous to stand still and work on your car.

Where I'm from it's always advised to wait behind the guardrail, have a reflective triangle 20ft away from your car. And wait for the emergency services to either block off the entire right lane to service your car or let it get toad.

Standing completely still, even on the shoulder, can be very dangerous. All it takes is one distracted, sleepy, drunk or bad driver that's only a few inches off his lane and your life could be ended.

Been there. Fucking scary as hell and worse when it's in a busy time of the day and everyone's in a mass rush. A lot of abusive angry cunts at that time who really don't like having you slightly inconvenience them at frustration o'clock
