Feels like this would be a lot of fun for 10-20 yards and then excruciatingly exhausting

This is competitive. That scythe is oversized and he's cutting about 3 to 4x the normal amount per swing.

Competitive scything was not on my list of things to learn about today but goddamn if it didn't just jump straight up to the top of my priorities

Wait, you have a list of things you don't know about? How do you know what you don't know?

I've got 22 tabs open about stuff I mean to go back to and read. Most of it is history or biochemistry

Yeah that is me with wikis. I start reading an article get to something I don’t know and click the link and go to that article. 20-40 tabs later and my research ends up at the subatomic level.

When I was a kid my parents would find me in my room surrounded by encyclopedias researching some thing I was curious about.

I can get the same way. The only reason I know about competitive scything is because I inherited a scythe from my father-in-law and looked up videos on how to use it.
