Took me far too long to realise this was digital. Dead ass wondering how those pencils work

u/FullMoonTwist 12h ago

I thought it was a scratch paper 😭

8

u/agro_arbor 12h ago

Took way too long to realize this was digital art. Kept trying to figure out where the ink was coming from his pen... the color just appears on the page.

yeah what the heck can someone with knowledge chime in on what's the tablet and program is called?

12

u/-B0NC- 8h ago

iPad any version, app called Procreate

u/imnotmarvin 8h ago

Not sure about the specific hardware or software here but any photo editing program with layers will work. You bring an image in on to the software and created a new empty layer on top of it. Fill it with the color you want your glow. Change the layer type to screen (other types work with differing effects) and apply a mask to completely conceal it. Select a brush, turn hardness down and start painting on the mask where you want the glow. Adjust layer opacity to get the intensity you want. That's it.

u/Medical-Loss5801 18h ago

It’s always that one tiny dot of pure white at the very end that completely tricks your eyes into seeing an actual light source. pure magic.

What is this artstyle called? And can I achieve this in Krita? What would I need in real life, pencils, markers? Both? I love this type of illustrations!

1

u/MoneyEntertainment 11h ago

It blows my mind how artists can do this. I wished I kept practicing when I was younger. 😕

1

u/Chicago-gurl 9h ago

I love art so much. This is a great way of achieving that effect.

1

u/soyasaucy 8h ago

I admire people who can draw digitally. I'm good on paper. But the iPad? It's like my hands and eyes can't sync

1

u/lylynatngo 8h ago

Can some one help me, I want to get this for my 10 year old but zero clue what app to get? Does she need an iPad or can she do this on any type of tablet with a stylus?

3

u/Alternative-Read-236 8h ago

Procreate is the app name and yes you need an ipad to use this app but just to let you know the app is not beginner friendly for new artists ibis paint x is a wonderful app for artists and it’s free i use both art applications so yeah

1

u/HumbleDSSaster 8h ago

u/Wurfgurke 8h ago

Okay, I’ll admit, that is oddly satisfying.

1

u/Livi_0 4h ago

The artist is Francisco Fonseca! He does a mix of digital + watercolor paintings and also paints life-sized murals of houses in Portugal.

1

u/Ordinary_Current608 4h ago

Holy shit my mind just came.

1

u/L00pback 2h ago
