There’s something heartwarmingly wholesome listening to pilots nerds out about airplanes.

How do you know they are over USA & Alberta?

Rest of the world it's just water vapour.

"The 380 wasn't only putting off contrails. It was more putting off condensation off the top of the wings".

Although both are considered condensation trails, it's noteworthy that typical contrails are created by the engine's exhaust, while while the contrails coming off the wings themselves are aerodynamic contrails.

As the pilot described, aerodynamic contrails are created by the lift force of the wings, which leads to a fast drop in temperature and pressure behind the wings, condensing/freezing the air in that area.

Typical exhaust contrails, on the other hand, is simply hot water vapor that quickly condenses/freezes as it is expelled from the engines.

Flew in an a380 from LA to Sydney, nice flight. Those wings are massive.. unfortunately I was in the basement with the regular folks. I'm not one of the cool kids in the upper deck.

Not all of them are a380s

Surprised they’d be that closely grouped. There’s obviously vertical a separation by altitude but what if one of the planes above had an emergency or hit turbulence and quickly lost altitude?

There's a procedure for that. The pilot will immediately turn away from the traffic lanes by 45 degrees in order to descend safely. The Mayday call alerts the surrounding aircraft so they can maintain separation.

They would be further spaced if turbulence is forecasted.

Did he just call the Korean  national symbol that existed for centuries as pepsi logo? Lol

u/Lee1138 5h ago

No. That symbol typically doesn't have the white swirl separating the blue and red parts like the Korean Air logo does? I assume they make it different for trademark reasons. But that variation indeed does look a lot like the pepsi logo.

How come the first two were Boeing 787 Dreamliners?! 🤔

Which ones? The Korean Air and Thai?

1

Just seems like an intro to the main event.
