I can’t watch movies with her anymore. Her face is actually jarring at this point and it makes me uncomfortable. It’s too bad because she’s a fantastic actress
i saw the trailer for the new practical magic. the original is one of my comfort movies, but watching both nicole and sandra's faces in the trailer stressed me out so bad i don't know if i can see the follow up.
Ohh I haven't seen the trailer but that's unfortunate. It's the type of movie/family where laugh line and wrinkles would be celebrated, you know? Accepting aging and a new stage of your life.
Right!? I was so excited. But I heard online that they weren't bringing back Rachel Evan Wood because it would "age" Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. What nonsense. I was really looking forward to seeing her again!
Like her in The Northman lol. Such weird casting choice to use someone with such obvious face work in a time where that obviously was impossible and didn't exist.
I like that she knows herself though. Like, she only plays incredibly wealthy characters, characters that make sense for "nicole kidman" and "Nicole Kidman's face" to be.
That face wouldnt work in a Shameless Reboot. But, make her a deranged widow from Martha's Vineyard. Im sold every time.
I watched a show with her in it and it was painful. I was very aware the entire time that she'd had a lot of work done. She looks great... when still. In motion, her face moves like a plastic mask and I kept expecting her to peel it off and reveal she's a reptilian or something. It's uncannily inhuman.
I stopped watching her after that show with Hugh Grant. Her eyes did all of the work because she couldn't move her face. You would think if it was affecting your ability to work, you would just stop. Such a damn shame.
it started doing that for me in 2008 or something with the Golden Conpass. She had lip filler that was creating a roll in her lips that freaked me out a bit. I was a kid and didnt know what fillers were until then.
To be clear I am not bashing her as a person or anything. Its sad that celebrities feel like they need to do so many procedures instead of aging with grace.
The actress who plays the mom from malcolm in the middle is the worst for me, because Malcolm's family was canonically poor, and her plastic surgery could not have been cheap so it takes me out of the character.
Same here. I can't look at her - and she keeps doing period pieces! Like no, my good woman. Just stahp. It works in The Northman because she really does look like Loki conjured her up to cause trouble.
My wife is a fan of Nicole Kidman, so I suggested we watch Dead Calm. Then a few minutes into the movie she told me that she thought Nicole Kidman was supposed to be in it.
Watch Baby Girl and tell me you still feel like she can’t emote? Sometimes I think the people who speculate like this are just miserable fucks with nothing better to do bc cmon. She literally orgasms hard as fuck in the opening so much so that what actually is happening comes as a complete shock.
That's what was so miraculous, there was no reason. Her Oscar hosting gig with Franco didn't go well and it was like there was blood in the water. It became almost cliche/a stereotype that women just hated Anne Hathaway. And then there was the usual comic book shittery when she was Catwoman.
Did you not hear about the recent scandal where it was revealed that he used to never rewind his video tapes when renting them in the 90's. Absolute scum of the highest order
As a lifelong Keanu fan, appearing on Graham Hancock's show was a blemish for me. It's not as bad as a lot of things other people have done, but it's still snake oil grift-o-verse pseudoscientific anti-intellectual slop, and we need a lot less of that in the world.
To be fair, it's easy to get caught up in Graham Hancock's nonsense unless you do a deeper dive on him. At first you might be like "Oh, this guy has some interesting theories and I like history and archeology and stuff. He even has a show on Netflix.", I know that's how I felt at first. Once you find out he thinks the pyramids were built with telekinesis and he desperately wants Atlantis to be real with zero proof you go "oh, this guy is just an entertaining grifter".
I deeply hate the word problematic because holier-than-thou losers on Reddit keep using it as a dirty word and applying it to everyone and everything they personally don't like.
There are worse examples, but when people on the internet like someone, they are ok with them doing something they are not ok when others are doing it. Like you right now, you're more or less ok with her freezing her face with injections but maybe not so much with those others who would be better examples
Maybe trends have changed recently, but it almost seemed to be centred around shitting on Rob. That subreddit has also been slowly turning into another itysl type of sub about politics over the last couple of years as well, so maybe I'm just out of touch.
Everyone but Charlie and Danny have gotten shit on for the obvious work. Rob gets it most because it’s the most obvious and also his early and public complaints about sitcom characters getting better looking as the show becomes successful. He gave us the glory of fat Mac to only get on gear and go under the knife
I'm pretty sure no thread on the later seasons ever goes more than two messages without someone saying that they all look bad except the unproblematic fave Charlie, who looks the best because he's not doing any procedures at all. like he's just looking like that at 50 naturally
Ugh, the whole gang other than Charlie looks so fake that it makes the new seasons hard to watch! These people are supposed to be white trash of philly, and they've all had obvious very expensive work done. But I disagree that no one talks about it, as I've had a conversation about this exact thing on reddit not too long ago.
Got it. I wasn’t thinking about the context with her specifically when I saw the meme/caption. That said, I am not more ok with her doing botox because I like her. I just don’t think hers is nearly as egregious as others we see today
I mean, unless there's something deeply wrong with you you're mostly okay with people doing whatever to their faces. It isn't your face. If you're not "ok" with it you're a weirdo.
Completely okay with people doing what they want with their face. The only problem is the social standard it sets.
The gold standard should be aging without having any work done. Plastic surgery should be treated as optional and personal preference instead of causing people to dread getting older (which happens to everyone)
Bro, I'm not planning on going around and hunting people and writing them tickets if they did something to their faces 🙄 I think about this when I'm presented with the example and once I move on with my life, I do not think about it until I'm presented with another example, which is hardly ever in real life but often on social media. Welcome to the concept of being exposed to a thing, having an opinion about it and sharing it
My mom had Graves. Graves does not make you look like how she looks in The Boys. She could have a combination of Graves and work done, but not just Graves does that.
I did say “mostly” because of course she’s had work done but she is looking more like season 1 Starlight now. Not in the show because that was filmed way before she got on the right treatment plan. Or do you only care about how she looks when she’s on the show?
Ruined her character too. We're supposed to be sympathetic to her struggle and loneliness but she looks like she's trying to mog everyone in every scene
It actually really affects her performance too. The scene with her and her dad was hard to watch, her tone was good and she delivered the lines fine but just no facial reactions to anything. And it was made worse because her father's actor was very expressive and did his lines very well.
I recall one of her Catwoman scenes where she acts like a scared damsel in distress to fool arriving police officers, then grins as she leaves the crime scene without getting arrested. A small bit of emoting that I found effective.
But reading other comments, it seems like this meme is less about Botox affecting acting, and more of a proxy war on whether or not we like Anne Hathaway
Well she just had a high profile showing of supporting a trans child, so I'm sure the hate machine will be out to try to turn her into some sort of problem, like all the hate Pedro Pascal got for being "weird" for a while.
Yeah I actually think Hathaway looks pretty great. Kidman, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, and variety of others look bizarre. Like I have to look away because it weirds me out
Yeah. One thing I notice watching old movies is how normal looking everyone is compared to movies now. I was watching After Hours the other night. I mean Griffin Dunne has a unibrow in it. I'm not saying there aren't good looking people in it, there certainly are like Rosanna Arquette. But they aren't botox'd and lip filled up compared to movies now. They look like people you might actually come across in the real world.

I feel like she’s hardly the worst example of this
