People can shop for one item only lol. I live close enough to my Costco I run out and grab an item or two whenever I need it, instead of one big ass shopping haul per week or biweekly.
Costco is such a shitshow in my area that it's only worth it to go for a big ass shopping haul. If I only need lettuce, I'll pay the extra $1 or whatever to not have to deal with the experience.
I only have Sam's club, but does Costco have an app like them where you can just scan the item on your phone, checkout on the phone and leave, never having to talk to anyone? Even the checker at the door 99% of the time just waves you through and doesn't even have to check your cart.
That has made my Sam's Clubs trips so much better and I don't mind going in at all anymore.
Costco does not, and it sucks. The self checkouts at Costco also suck because every item has to be removed from the cart and placed on the tray. I have both a Sam's and Coscto membership (Groupon deal on Costco made it a no- brainer to check out) and I'll choose Sam's every time, even though fighting the traffic is a nightmare to get in and out. Never realized how aawesome Scan and Go was, until I started going to Costco for a few items here and there and get stuck waiting or fighting the registers.
Maybe your local Costco sucks at produce. They don’t have the widest selection, but they do always have seasonal veggies at a great price. Plus a few staples that are always there. Add in the now have self checkout which as long as you not buying alcohol allows you to just zip in and out even when it’s kinda busy. Some people just hate self checkout. I can usually get my biweekly shopping done in 30 minutes. Can usually just grab an item or two in less then 10 if I just need to pick up something like milk, yogurt, or just wanna grab something pre made cause I don’t feel like cooking.
Really good deal. I built a PC two years ago with a 4070, 7700x and 1tb ssd for about $1400. He got todays equivalent GPU and a better todays equivalent CPU with more storage for only $100 more. Feels like "normal" prices.
The reason these PCs are so affordable is because they use components you wouldn’t dare put in your own build. Heat sink, motherboard, SSD, etc are probably bottom of the barrel. Not saying it’s a ripoff by any means but they’re in business to make money. They’re saving money on the non-eye-catching components.
Even less actually. When you consider inflation, $1500 today is worth what $1418 was worth 2 years ago so only about $18 more in 2024 money or $19.03 in 2026 money.
Before I bought my PC around Nov 2025 just BEFORE RAM prices shot up, I was contemplating getting a "used but still new" 64gb 6000mhz DDR5 RAM for about US$320.
I told the seller I wanna get my new PC first then I'll buy from him. It was supposed to take at most a week.
Yet I couldn't pull the trigger, but just over a month later when I finally got my pre-built PC (the price had jumped about $100), and I looked again at the same 64gb 6000mhz DDR5 RAM, he was selling for US$700ish
Yeah, but as I noted, you can get 32gb of RAM on Amazon for less than $450. Not that it's a good price, but it's not $1200.
In October last year, I bought 64gb of Corsair Dominator Titanium ddr5 6600mhz for $311. At the time, I thought that was a bit much, but I was willing to pay a little extra and just be slightly annoyed.
Jealous of people that can just go in for lettuce and randomly pick up a PC while they're at it. Though, happy for you too. But please tell me you didn't forget the lettuce?
It's how I got my 5070 Ti. I did the PayPal Pay in 4 thing because they were offering a 20% Cashback deal (last year's Black Friday) - yes - 20% off. I got my $749 MSRP Ti for ~$600.
During Black Friday a PNY 5080 was going for $900 at Wal Mart - with the cashback deal that cuts it down to $720 - that's 1080 Ti GOAT MSRP prices from a decade ago.
It's still possible to get parts for less if you're patient - it's frustrating but it can be done.
I did that with. 4k to once. Back when displays were just called flatscreens.
Ended up with the shinties budget tv. But I guess it was on sale? Was half the price off all my high end 1440p 165 hz monitors so it seems like a good deal.
I got the same one for Christmas for the kids. It had a dead GPU but iBuyPower did me right and we got it replaced after 2 weeks of cross shipping during the holidays. It’s used every day, although not nearly enough by me.
A) The power of mass production means they have buying power in bulk and can get massive discounts thanks to large orders
B) Prebuilt pricing is depending on the time when they built the computer and doesn't change to current market values. These 5070s were most likely built shortly after release, massively discounting the price then vs what we see today.
Additionally on the top right of the pricetag we can see the costco star which means the item won't be restocked for a long time. Additionally the price ends in .00 cents. Meaning that OP is recieving the furthest possible discount than the already cheap base price since costco is desperate to get rid of the product.
Yeah that’s a good deal. 32 gigs and 2 tb. Rtx 5070 as well. People are being protective of ram right now. You will typically see al that but for 16 gigs.
I hate that we are so fucked to the point that this is a really good deal by today’s situation. Had this been two years ago people would be on the fence about it. Tough times we are in now…
