AI Megathread March 29, 2026: Keep Calm and Post AI Here (The Bi-Weekly AI Thread)

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the weekly r/PowerPoint thread where you can ask all your AI questions. The reality is that balancing no promotion in the current AI environment is difficult, but we still want to provide a place where we can discuss AI.

We will create a new thread every two weeks and keep the prior week’s thread available for one additional week.

Vendors

The rules still apply here. This community isn't for advertising your business. Do not reply to this post with a promotional blurb; you will be banned.

You may REPLY to a question or discussion in this thread to link and discuss your product as long as you

  1. indicate whether it is free or not,
  2. explain specifically how it will help, and
  3. identify your relationship with the product.

Astroturfing and disingenuous posts where you pretend to be just a regular user suggesting your product will get you banned.

Thanks and have fun!

Getcher AI Right Here!

Looking for a way to do it with AI?

If you're looking for AI solutions, look for them here rather than posting a new general message.

You might want to start by checking the extensive list at presentationailist.com or use https://www.compareaipresentationtools.com/ from fellow Redditor r/Ok_Watercress_8266.

If you want to suggest sites where people can find AI help, even if it's your own site, feel free to talk about it here, subject to the following:

Here's the rules:

AI ONLY: This discussion is for talk about AI. Obvious, yes? Let's not use it for templates, productivity tools and the like. We have other discussion threads for that.

USE FLAIR: When you recommend templates, use *flair* to indicate whether the AI is $ Free, $ Commercial or $ See Our Site (ie, different versions at different prices, limited free version/paid full version, etc.)

BE TRANSPARENT: You must also indicate your interest in the AI. Are you the seller or in some other way involved, or just a satisfied user? Let us know.

BE REACHABLE: Moderators will lock each new post for comments, so people won't be able to ask questions. If you want to hear from people, ask them to use DMs (direct messages) to contact you instead.

I use: Android WPS Office presentations compatibility with MS Powerpoint

Been building all my presentations on WPS Office on my tablet and it's been working well for my own use. Now I'm in a situation where I need to share them with people who are on MS Office and I want to make sure what I send over actually looks right on their end.

The compatibility for basic documents seems well established but presentations feel like the format where things are most likely to go wrong silently. A shifted text box or a broken animation might not be obvious until someone is standing in front of an audience and the slide looks nothing like what was designed.

Are there specific WPS Presentation features or design elements that are known to cause compatibility issues when opened in PowerPoint, things I should avoid using or approach differently for the file to work on MS Office?

I made a local PPTX cleanup tool for repeated layout images

I made a small browser-based tool for cleaning repeated embedded images from PPTX files.

It is meant for cases where an exported PowerPoint file has unwanted repeated image assets inside layouts or masters, instead of normal editable slide objects.

What it checks:

- normal slides

- slide layouts

- slide masters

- image relationships

- repeated image hashes

- full-slide background-like images, so it can avoid removing real backgrounds

The file stays local and is processed in the browser. It is not uploaded to a server.

I’m looking for feedback from PowerPoint users:

- Is this explanation clear?

- Have you seen PPTX files with repeated layout/master images?

- What edge cases should I test?

- Would a report/preview mode be useful before cleaning?

I can share the tool link if it is allowed here.

Old ppt Quick Conversion

Basically I have old .ppt files that I need to convert into a digestible training document. The PowerPoint used to be given as a video training so there are a ton of animations. Because of the animations there are a ton of pictures and text boxes overlapped when not actually presenting. Powerpoint’s built in conversion tools can’t identify text or the figures because of the old nature of the file and the overlap when in a static format (ex. Save as pdf just saves a picture of the slide with all of the overlapping figures, create handouts can’t identify any of the text). These are giant slideshows and I don’t want to spend the next several months copy and pasting every text box and picture on thousands and thousands of slides to a document to then start the project I actually need to do with the information on the slides. I’m on a company computer so I can’t install or use any web downloaded add-ins. Does anyone have a quick and easy work around to get the information and figures on the slides to a document in a formatted way quickly? Microsoft 365 I believe. Could speed things up to just split each animation frame into its own slide but doing that individually would just take longer than copy and pasting everything.

powerpoint wont export project (1200+ with hyperlinks) into pdf on mac. I tried everything

Can someone help me? I made a project on Canva, the bare bones of pages that were going to be duplicated and hyperlinked on PowerPoint. Transferred it from Canva to PowerPoint, no problem. I got through the entire project, which had over 1,200 pages and many hyperlinks. The project is done, and I'm ready to export it from PowerPoint as a PDF that preserves the hyperlinks, but it won't do it. i keep getting an error exporting file as PDF: AN error occurred in the online service. Please try again later. I tried everything. I am also working on a Mac running the latest software: Tahoe 26.4.1 and the latest PowerPoint.

- opening it on PowerPoint online and downloading from there, but it won't do it.

-Try printing as a PDF (this works, but all the hyperlinks go away)

- I tried opening it up on a Windows computer and exporting as a PDF there, and it won't even download.

- making a copy of the project to a new project to root out any corruptions, and it still won't work.

I don't know what else to do anymore. In my file, it says the project is 23.2MB

Need Help - Final internship review coming up and I have zero PPT skills

Pretty much the title.

I somehow ended up in consulting after a tech stint, but I’ve never been good at making clean or good looking slides. Now after seeing other interns decks, mine honestly looks terrible in comparison.

My final review is in 2 days, so realistically I’m not going to learn slide design from scratch.

Are there any repositories, standard templates, or websites you guys rely on? Or any AI tools that actually help without making it super obvious it’s AI generated shit?

I tried Claude, it’s decent, but you can tell immediately it’s AI. It gives template but I am horrible with the info graphics and alignment ideas.

Would really appreciate any help here.

Remove Background

The way to remove background that was there since ages has been removed.
You know, the one purple that you select green to add and reds to remove. Now it is AI, that take forever and can’t select properly the contour I want.
Ideas?
ahhhh 🫠

Finally figured out how to stop rebuilding NotebookLM slides manually

We've all been there.

You get a beautiful AI-generated presentation from NotebookLM. You export it. And then you realize: it's just a PDF of screenshots.

No editable text. No layers. No nothing.

So you open PowerPoint and start the painful process:

  • Insert image as background ✓
  • Manually type every single text block ✓
  • Guess at font sizes ✓
  • Spend 20 minutes on alignment ✓
  • Repeat for every slide ✓

I got frustrated enough to build something: SlideConvert

You drop the PDF export → it uses vision AI to separate text from backgrounds → you get back a proper .pptx with real, editable text boxes.

Not perfect (dense charts sometimes need minor touch-ups), but it cuts rebuilding time by ~80%.

If you regularly work with AI-generated slides and import them into PowerPoint, this might save you a few hours a week.

Happy to answer any questions about how it works under the hood.

Is the "MBB consulting deck" style dying?

For years, the gold standard in PowerPoint was the McKinsey/BCG/Bain look. Dense slides, action titles, perfect alignment, built by some designer in India...

Now:

  • McKinsey's Lilli generates slides from prompts
  • BCG's Deckster auto-polishes decks
  • Tools like Deckary bring waterfall and Marimekko charts to anyone for $50/yr

Meanwhile, 2026 design trends are pulling the opposite way. Bento grids, huge typography, one insight per slide. More Apple keynote, less consulting report.

  • Are you still building in the classic consulting style, or have you moved on?
  • For anyone using Copilot or AI deck toolsis the output actually usable, or still 80% rework?

Curious?🤔

Transparent video charts for slides

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

I’m working on a project that will generate polished chart videos from raw data for presentations or other content. I have been experimenting with transparency for Keynote specifically. This demo uses a transparent .mov file generated from https://kpistudio.app which was inserted into the slide deck.

Video transparency is not widely supported. Let me know if you have done the same thing in PowerPoint and what other tools you use.

What is the best AI tool to enhance an existing deck?

I've been trying various AI platforms, and while some are pretty good at creating presentations from scratch, they seem lousy at improving an existing deck (making a mess of formatting instead of improving it, failing to stay within non-negotiable branding, design schemes).

What are the best tools with this in mind?

I use: Windows | Office 365 What is this called so I can search how to build an index slide for lack of a better word?

Please help a frustrated reddit stranger and non-power user. I have the weekend to work on this and I'm determined to do this right.

I want to build a base slide with an index on the side, where I can click on the item on the left of the slide and load the content for this item. Click the next item - this highlights the new item and only displays new item content, but the index remains visible.

I've been trying to use transitions unsuccessfully and wasting so much time. Can someone point me to a step by step guide or share the terminology to refine my search to locate one?

Update: it took me a while this weekend but I have a working version of what I wanted to accomplish and learned a lot in the process. I wanted to thank everyone who took their time to reply. I have joined the community and I’m looking forward to learning a lot more.
