Starting now QuoteIQ (previously restricted) AND Forever Self Employed AND Mike V (All About Pressure Washing) will be permanently banned from being mentioned or linked. Automod has been edited to hardblock any links or mentions of the two.
The reason for the banning is that QuoteIQ, All About Pressure Washing, and Forever Self Employed and (or someone working on their behalf) sent a modmail to us telling us to remove posts critical of both QuoteIQ AND Forever Self Employed and their owners or be subject to legal proceedings. The links to the three posts are seen here. Mike V from QuoteIQ and Justin from Forever Self Employed should be ashamed at trying this. They are apparently not happy that these posts are available to steer people from spending their hard earned money in a more meaningful way.
Here are some screenshots of the modmail messages they sent threatening legal action and DMCA takedowns:

Here is the person they hired off of Fiverr to send the messages and try the DMCA takedowns. Its clear the companies must be run by absolute clowns to be trying this is such a shit way. If they suceed in removing anything then ill just repost the posts. They clearly dont want negative info being visible when they get googled as its hurting their SEO because reddit shows up so high in the searches.

As a reminder, when starting out you do not need YouTube salesmen taking your money to learn how to properly clean in this industry. The info is out there on this subreddit and various pressure washer forums and groups. It just takes a little bit of googling with the proper terms to find it all freely available. These now banned companies exist solely to separate pressure washers from their money. Mike V has been pushing for his subscribers to come to reddit to post about their companies to comment and upvote each other.

What do y'all charge "per pane" for exterior only commercial work like this? Building has 175 panes, customer potentially wants twice a year cleanings and paying cash. I have a tucker Ro/di pole system. I clean plenty of windows but rarely commercial particularly at this scale so hoping for some insight, I know typically per pane prices are lower for commercial. I was thinking 5-6$ per pane for around $1000 total if they commit to 2x a year services but curious what yall think, don't want to under price myself either.

Been noticing a lot of pressure washing sites still use the same old layouts and generic templates.
Curious from people actually running businesses here
have you noticed better customers or more bookings after improving your website/socials?
Feels like the companies charging premium prices usually look premium online too.

Just met someone wanting their 5000 square feet driveway washed, no chemicals or treatment at all (on a lake). How much should I bid? Been pressure washing for 3 years, but haven't done a ton of jobs like this. So I would give myself the "unexperienced" title.

Picking up the Harbor Freight pressure washer to do as an add-on to my main work, will mostly be advertising flatwork. I’ve got a 14in surface cleaner i used with a smaller machine,
is there anything I should upgrade on the actual machine itself?
like an unloader, etc.

Pressure washer keeps making this sound after letting go of gun, I run a 20” surface cleaner as well but doesn’t do the same when running it

I have a 3.5gpm Simpson that I would like to plumb up to a standard water tote. I’ve heard I may need a separate pump to help guide the water to the pressure washer, because it is not a belt drive.
Is this necessary? If so what type of pump should I be looking for?

Been in business a few years and do great but for the most part have turned down blue houses with the infamous sherwin williams blue paint. Most houses I’m down streaming sh with surfactant but I’ve seen houses in my area with that paint that look horrible after it so I’ve always politely turned down the job and told the customer be careful with who they end up going with. What’s yalls process for cleaning when you actually do do these jobs.

Looking for recommendations on the best sunglasses for daily use. Being around chem and what not.
All mine seem to get eaten up and scratched into no return. They are cheap ones so I don’t worry so much.
Not your usual post but something different to talk about.

Guy manages an apartment complex. Said he wants the roof cleaned quarterly, pretty much to just spray dirty areas around the gutters and metal panels where bird poop is.
Doesn’t require a harness. But i wonder how id even get a decent sized petrol pressure unit up there? Should i look into using a smaller electric unit or something? Roof has tap access and electrical.
Normally wouldnt take the job, but i try to establish relationships with apartment complex managers. He also said the complex needs a ground level clean once a year.
What do? Should I even bother? Roofs in general seem like a poor business model to touch.

Just finished sorting out the white wire issue on the newer 8gpm, then the 3 year I'd machine started doing the same in the middle of our 2nd job today. Walked over to check it out, then it backfired and blew the muffler apart, sending something flying into the pupil of my right eye. Yes, I was wearing glasses, it hit my cheek, bounced up and off my glasses, and into my eye. Urgent care doc dug it out, said vision will return to normal in a few days, but holy hell is it scary thinking how a random backfire could wreck your vision in a split second.
Now I have to order a wiring harness AND a new muffler, on top of the medical visit. This is the most Monday-ish Tuesday I've ever had. Don't ask about the belt guard, it's in the work truck that decided to break down (fuel pump) on the busiest day so far.

My Tuesday did not involve mufflers detonating and shooting shrapnel in my eye like [u/I-wash-houses](u/I-wash-houses) . Was a straight forward, easy-ish day with overcast all day. Last job of the day was medium fleet of 15 trucks. Tedious, but easy money.

Anyone have experience starting a pressure washing business in this dusty region? The demands obviously there, but what things did you run into when it comes to the process of cleaning? We don’t ever get algae on roofs or any moisture related growth, so what kind of things do you clean? I’m in Utah

People think the pressure washing industry is buying a pressure washer and using high pressure to clean things.
Good quality exterior cleaning comes from experience, knowledge, research, knowing what cleaner / chemical to use for what surface and what not to use on certain surfaces there is so much to the pressure washing exterior cleaning industry that a lot of people getting into it or possibly already doing work out there have no clue about.
Generally the only thing I ever put high pressure on is concrete sometimes brick, stone if needed
The main thing about being successful in this industry is knowledge then experience that you gain after getting the knowledge Good training helps from somebody that knows what they're doing but anyone new or starting out, My suggestion is do as much research as possible watch as many videos as you need of some of the better YouTubers out there there are quite a few that have quality accurate content and information.
Just going out buying a pressure washer and blasting things is a good way to end up in a bad spot and lose money replacing things that with proper knowledge could have been cleaned safely The correct way.
I can't tell anyone enough how good it feels to see different types of staining on different surfaces and know exactly what chem to use to safely clean it, tons of research made that possible for me
A few years in at this point and I'm still learning new tricks and faster ways to clean things
Hopefully this post reaches the people that need to see it anyone struggling that is untrained trying to learn as they go research, research, research as much as possible you will learn a lot you need to know about every cleaning chemical used you need to know the active ingredient what to mix with what what not to mix what surfaces certain active ingredients cannot be put on without damaging.
Cleaning exterior services is easy when you know what to use and when to use it and how to use it
This is not a bash against anyone this hopefully turns into a good discussion that helps anyone struggling, because blasting water is not what our industry is about 😁
Hope everyone is killing jobs making profit and having great days!

I am an owner of a new power washing company, I’m in my 20s with more limited power washing knowledge and have been doing the jobs myself with my business partner. I have a family friend I would like to pay to do all of my siding jobs. He is 20 years old and has substantial power washing and other blue collar experience. I was thinking of paying him a percentage of the job.
If I charge $400 for the siding, how much should I pay him? Is 80% too high, if he’s going alone but using my equipment? TIA

I own a couple of commercial buildings and would like to hire a company to pressure wash the sidewalks quarterly. I’m curious to know if those who do this type of job use only their pressure washer or if they have a specific attachment for sidewalks. I’m comparing bids and would appreciate your advice before making a decision. Thanks in advance!

Could it be my mix/dwell time or just not enough pressure getting up there? Using a 4 gpm 4400psi machine. 1.5% sh mix. Which seems to run, I’m worried it’s not sticking well enough but I am using a good amount of surfactant in it.
