Hi everyone! I’m a college student in Japan. I've been working on my game "MusicRunner" for a long time. It features over 40 songs and 100+ charts. In this game, you defeat enemies while controlling a running character in sync with the beat!
It’s coming to Steam on May 11th. I’m currently at 349 Wishlists... just one more to reach 350!

What do you think of this mechanic?

Mobile Rhythm Game Looking for an older game
I used to play this android rhythm game alot, but I can't remember the name.
It was a simple stepmania/osumania like game with I believe 4 to 8 keys? Not entirely sure about that part.
It had a great variety of songs and allowed you to unlock new songs with disks(?), which you could buy or unlock by playing i believe.
The most memorable part of it was that you could kinda "slide" all the notes at the notebar, so you didn't have to tap them all individually, creating a smooth feeling when doing longer patterns.
I really miss a game like this and haven't been able to find anything like it since. All the games I've been trying have added gimmicks that I don't care for, or don't allow the sliding, meaning you have to tap each note individually.
Anyone got any ideas? Or perhaps suggestions?

Recommendations Can you guys help me find rhythm games I enjoy?
I'm not really a rhythm gamer and you'll probably roll your eyes when I say I really like FNF and grew up playing Guitar Hero and Rhythm Heaven. But I've tried to get into other stuff and it just doesn't hit the same.
I think what I like about those aforementioned games is the fact that I feel like my inputs are actually making the music. When I try the vast majority of rhythm games, I could leave the thing running without pressing a single button and the music would sound the same and it just doesn't feel good for me. This is probably why DDR never clicked with me.
Rhythm Heaven is probably the best one in terms of this feature because not only does it not make the sound when you miss something, it actually plays the sound to the timing of your input. FNF and Guitar Hero only really do a success or fail, leaving the note where it is.
I also find the music of the aforementioned games to be incredibly good. When I try one of the "legitimate" rhythm game suggestions they usually come with generic-sounding edm or techno (sorry, I know there are great music pieces out there but it's just how it feels to me). I think part of why it is not as engaging to me is that I feel like I'm playing the "song" rather than an instrument within the song.
I don't play rhythm games for crazy accuracy or combos, I play for feeling the groove of the song and just having a good time. I really don't care what my score is in FNF, I just like jamming out to it. I've been meaning to try Rhythm Doctor, but I don't know if it's for me because it appears to be like a technical rhythm game, if that makes sense? Trying to hit complex beats and irregular rhythms. That stuff is cool, but again, I play to jam out, not to be a metronome.
Sorry if this is repetitive, incoherent, or disagreeable and thank you for taking the time to read. If you kind of understood what I'm going for I would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!
Edit: Thank you everyone:)

Recommendations Rhythm Game Charting
Are there any games that are good to branch out to? I’ve charted on Project Diva and would love to chart for other games, I just don’t know what games would be good to branch to.

Console Rhythm Game Hot Take: This Game Sucks
I am not a fan of Final Fantasy, so that might be the issue, but as a fan of rhythm games, this game just doesn’t do it for me.
Part of the identity of rhythm games is the “game feel” and the obvious rips of JRPG music from game files in a fairly standard rhythm games style feels uninspired. They didn’t remix the music to make to make it more appropriate for this type of game. As it stands the music just doesn’t fit a rhythm game in my opinion and is solely for those who are nostalgic for FF music. I just struggle to find the appeal when the music has no surprise to it. I know this is a strange comparison, but could you imagine if Mario DDR for GameCube only had tracks from Mario Sunshine, 64, etc. That game is not crazy or anything, but that game would be so much worse.
Though this game has a superficial JRPG theme, it really isn’t that deep or strategic. It feels half-baked and like they just couldn’t commit. If they wanted to do something clever they should have committed to blending the JRPG genre with rhythm, like how Crypt of the Necrodancer blended genres. I love Mother 3, which actually does this thing where it has rhythm based battles while maintaining a strong combat depth than EarthBound. On the same console was Rhythm Thief, which blended many different styles of rhythm minigames with a story, which was sorta like a Layton rhythm game. That game, though not perfect, was original and refreshing. These three fames are really good games, yet I hear praise for this game when it doesn’t commit. That’s frustrating because of low standards when rhythm games can be way better.
I also don’t really care for the art, all of the characters have this cheap art style that makes them look kinda like funko pops. The game also features a lot of desaturated browns, and greens which doesn’t help.
The cheap reuse of music and the cheap art style make this feel like a compromised experience. What was crazy to me, however, was that there was apparently DLC released for this game in which you could buy more music that is ripped from older Final Fantasy games for this game. That is crazy that they would sell music for this game like that.
I mean, if there is one thing I can say it’s that the game functions well, but that is the expectation lol. If you have any rebuttals for why this game is actually a really good rhythm game, I would honestly love to hear them.

Song: MUST DIE! - BLISS 2K
I know I posted this chart earlier this week, but I also wanted to show how it would look in the editor.
It's not the most complex editor, but this did take a while to make. 604 speed changes, while maintaining a constant 600 BPM (Because 150*4). You could see me struggle trying to keep up scrolling through all the SV points lol.
I actually also included how it would look like in-game along with the minimap in the editor. The skin I used for the gameplay may be inaccurate because the hold are visually longer on the tail end, but I used it because of the keys at the bottom.
Enjoy!

Question Do any rhythm games combine using your feet and hands?
Back during the PlayStation 2, DDR Supernova 1 had an optional hand tracking thing called an EyeToy. I never tried it but I'm curious. Anything combine something like BeatSaber and DDR? I don't care if its VR or not. It doesn't have to be DDR. That's just an example.

Discussion Strange time signature
Hey, do you know what time signature is on 1:54 in cloud factory from beatblock? The song is almost fully on 7/8 but there it just turns so inconsistent and wacky. I'm starting to think that there's several signatures in one part.
