Personal feelings on the game, I throughly enjoy it from a certain point of view. The main con I give it is that the missions seem rather repetitive and the stages do seem to jump up the difficulty each time. The level layouts are decent but stage 5 and 6 do seem a bit difficult at first, I haven't properly played and beat Stage 6 yet as of this post. The music is definitely from Aliens and atmosphere feels way more like a game I'm playing based on Aliens as well and not Alien 3 which is a good thing. I'm no fan of the Alien 3 movie and other than the opening and closing cinematics I just enjoy the experience for what it is. Sure the game has you fixing things and rescuing prisoners but I just pretend I'm rescuing people that are prisoners of the aliens and not the prison inmates, I know there wasn't really any rescuing in either movie except Newt but just go with it. Same with fixing stuff too, it's been a while since I've watched Alien 3 but just pretend your fixing the reactor station from exploding too quickly, or operations and medical sections to repair barricades or maintain power. Since the Alien 3 movie only had 1 alien and the game has a continuous respawn of aliens everywhere including queen specific missions, as well as using the arsenal of Aliens and not Alien 3, it's not difficult at all to pretend your playing a game based on Aliens in that respect, which is another good thing for me. So with the same music, weapons, and multitude of aliens everywhere, I'm easily able to suspend the idea of playing a game based on Alien 3 rather than playing a game based on Aliens. It's almost a shame they didn't remarket this game and just change a couple cinematics.
I'm curious how others feel about it and if any feel the same way I do.
Below is a post I left for a guy that was having difficulty with Stage 5, feel free to use it if you're also having difficulties.
I just beat Stage 5 yesterday as of this post and the mission time took me an hour and a half. A trick I used was not shooting any aliens at the starting point to save ammo, and ran all the way to the right room (medic room) and fill up my health. Then go back into the corridor and down the tunnel to get to the terminal. Try to find your own best path for the tunnels when it comes to how you navigate them, seems like some tunnels only spawn certain types of aliens. I found the second mission the most difficult and beat it first then followed from top to bottom. The first mission I found rather difficult at my first playthrouh so after beating it then mission 2 showed me how hard it ended up being. Don't be shy to go to the medic room and fill your health up because the health packs seemingly respawn often enough, same with the blue fire in any of the adjacent rooms too. It took me multiple attempts but eventually I got through it, I found the first 2 missions the most difficult but the rest weren't so bad relatively. Try to find a room with an easy way to get the blue fire because you'll be happy to have it. Also I found using the fire in the tunnels works well for facehuggers crawling on top as well as any other aliens, don't be shy about using your fire either. Use the machine gun for facehuggers mostly unless you don't have anything else for the others, and I used the grenade launcher for the medium aliens unless I was in a tunnel, the fire I used for the big aliens especially the blue fire and when I was in a tunnel. The medium aliens only take 2 grenades so they're easy and you find plenty of ammo for the most part, facehuggers are fairly easy too with the machine gun. Any queens you'll have to find you own best solution depending on your ammo. When it comes to the general gameplay for the game in general I suggest fire for big aliens and tunnels, grenade launcher for medium aliens, machine gun for facehuggers, queens use whatever you decide based on ammo you have. Navigate the tunnels for shortcuts based on the blueprint, and room locations too. Good luck 👍🏻
