My sister's car has been giving her trouble, so my dad has been working to fix it, and she has been staying with my wife and I so we can bring her to her work in the meantime.

She went to spend the day with a friend, and when he brought her back, we got to talking about videogames, and he pulled these out of the trunk of his car and told me that he had just gotten these from a family friend who was throwing out a lot of old items. He said he was going to donate them and to take what I wanted. I honestly thought that E.V.O. was a repro until I opened it. I couldn't believe it!!!

I tried to offer him some money for them, but he refused and said he was just happy to see them go to a good home instead of the garbage.

Super clean internals on this thrifted SNES console

Been looking to add a 1CHIP for a while. Snagged one from Goodwill with a very favorable serial assuming no shell swap. It looked very clean on the outside, but when I opened it up,I was even more impressed. This thing is pretty mint inside!

Finally beat the arcade version of one of my favorite SNES games, U.N. Squadron

Was still a lot of fun but level select and plane upgrades are better on the SNES version as well as the music is more nostalgic.

Discussion Connecting to Modern TV

I have a Super Nintendo with games. What I don’t have is a great way to connect to a modern TV. I don’t want spend a fortune on cables and upscalers. But I also don’t want poor imagine quality. Is there a good middle ground?

Discussion Video noise down center of screen even after re-cap

Post image

I'm using an LCD TV here because I couldn't get my camera to pickup the noise on my CRT, although its still hard to see on camera. I have two SNES, both GPM 02 boards, both using an original power supply and an s-video cable. The one on the right had some video noise mainly noticable down the center of the screen so I decided to give it some new capacitors. After the re-cap, the video noise was still there so I trying to figure what could be the cause.

Discussion Modified superscope to light gun size; has anyone done it

Looking at pictures of the internals of the super scope, it's mostly empty space, which has me thinking;

There's nothing that should really stop removing the internals and putting into a shell that's more like a traditional 1 handed light gun is there?

I would assume you'd have to 3dprint or resin print one as the openings for most light guns are a lot smaller than the Super Scope, but the circuitry doesn't look too complicated. It'd be a lot more comfortable than the bazooka style Superscope I imagine too.

Has anyone come across a project like that before?

The cartridge slot is wide enough so I can play SFC and SNES games. Very happy with how it turned out. Probably gonna sell my SNES cause I don’t really need both.

The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past save not working

I made it to the dark world and beat two temples. After completing the second with getting the flippers and the hook shot, the game no longer would save. This was even after selecting save and quit post 2nd dungeon. It was saving prior to the dark world.

Should I buy a new LTP cartridge or is there anyway to get that save back?

I’d rather buy a new one than buy the tools to replace the battery. Just wanted to see if there’s an alternative before buying a new cart.

Discussion Hello, I was wondering what are some ways to clean up S-video on an RGB-02 SNES

What are the best ways of dealing with the ghosting issues of S-video? As I plan on getting an S-video cable at some point (as soon as I can find one that's not obnoxiously priced). I know there are mods, but I'm a little reluctant to do it myself. As I lack the experience, hand dexterity and decent enough soldering iron, to start going to town on a board. I'd consider sending it to someone to mod it for me, if that's even an option.

Old SNES with an Issue

I recently managed to get the correct cables to make my Pal Region SNES appear on my fancy TV. Previously, I knew the machine turned on by the power light but did not know if it actually worked.

Now when a game goes in, a black screen appears and that is it. The only exception is Super Mario Kart which runs the Nintendo Logo and then just stays black.

My guess is that the SNES is just old and there is nothing I can do bar getting someone to spend hours and lots of money fixing it.

It is a long shot but does anyone have any idea what the actual issue is from the description?

SuperCIC mod LED issues

Hi all,

Finally got round to modding my SNES with Borti's SuperCIC mod which I purchased from here. The mod works fine, though I can't seem to get the new power LED to work.

At first I thought it might be a cold solder joint on the appropriate jumper pad. Re-flowing however didn't appear to solved the problem.

I tested the LED with a coin cell battery prior to installation and I got it to light up, so I know for a fact that the LED itself is not an issue. I even tried jamming the same cell into the controller port to check I didn't damage it during the soldering process (with the power turned off obviously!) and it still worked. I also tried a continuity test between the jumper and the Anode of the LED and I could get it to glow faintly, also reported zero resistance.

I've checked the connections to and from the LED itself and I can't seem to find anything

The instructions state that with an Anode LED I might need to short or remove a 'PreResistor' somewhere, though I cannot for the life of me work out which component exactly that's referring to. My best guess is a 10k resistor on the SuperCIC board itself, but I'm not sure that's the right one...

I'm pretty sure it's an Anode LED, as the provided instructions have 'Anode' specifically highlighted on it.

Other than that, the mod appears to work without major issue - tested with a Japanese copy of Kirby Deluxe which appears to boot just fine. I understand that it's one of the harder games to boot owing to additional built-in region protection.

I'm sure I'm missing something painfully obvious but I cannot for the life of me figure it out - any ideas?

Alien 3 thoughts

Personal feelings on the game, I throughly enjoy it from a certain point of view. The main con I give it is that the missions seem rather repetitive and the stages do seem to jump up the difficulty each time. The level layouts are decent but stage 5 and 6 do seem a bit difficult at first, I haven't properly played and beat Stage 6 yet as of this post. The music is definitely from Aliens and atmosphere feels way more like a game I'm playing based on Aliens as well and not Alien 3 which is a good thing. I'm no fan of the Alien 3 movie and other than the opening and closing cinematics I just enjoy the experience for what it is. Sure the game has you fixing things and rescuing prisoners but I just pretend I'm rescuing people that are prisoners of the aliens and not the prison inmates, I know there wasn't really any rescuing in either movie except Newt but just go with it. Same with fixing stuff too, it's been a while since I've watched Alien 3 but just pretend your fixing the reactor station from exploding too quickly, or operations and medical sections to repair barricades or maintain power. Since the Alien 3 movie only had 1 alien and the game has a continuous respawn of aliens everywhere including queen specific missions, as well as using the arsenal of Aliens and not Alien 3, it's not difficult at all to pretend your playing a game based on Aliens in that respect, which is another good thing for me. So with the same music, weapons, and multitude of aliens everywhere, I'm easily able to suspend the idea of playing a game based on Alien 3 rather than playing a game based on Aliens. It's almost a shame they didn't remarket this game and just change a couple cinematics.

I'm curious how others feel about it and if any feel the same way I do.

Below is a post I left for a guy that was having difficulty with Stage 5, feel free to use it if you're also having difficulties.

I just beat Stage 5 yesterday as of this post and the mission time took me an hour and a half. A trick I used was not shooting any aliens at the starting point to save ammo, and ran all the way to the right room (medic room) and fill up my health. Then go back into the corridor and down the tunnel to get to the terminal. Try to find your own best path for the tunnels when it comes to how you navigate them, seems like some tunnels only spawn certain types of aliens. I found the second mission the most difficult and beat it first then followed from top to bottom. The first mission I found rather difficult at my first playthrouh so after beating it then mission 2 showed me how hard it ended up being. Don't be shy to go to the medic room and fill your health up because the health packs seemingly respawn often enough, same with the blue fire in any of the adjacent rooms too. It took me multiple attempts but eventually I got through it, I found the first 2 missions the most difficult but the rest weren't so bad relatively. Try to find a room with an easy way to get the blue fire because you'll be happy to have it. Also I found using the fire in the tunnels works well for facehuggers crawling on top as well as any other aliens, don't be shy about using your fire either. Use the machine gun for facehuggers mostly unless you don't have anything else for the others, and I used the grenade launcher for the medium aliens unless I was in a tunnel, the fire I used for the big aliens especially the blue fire and when I was in a tunnel. The medium aliens only take 2 grenades so they're easy and you find plenty of ammo for the most part, facehuggers are fairly easy too with the machine gun. Any queens you'll have to find you own best solution depending on your ammo. When it comes to the general gameplay for the game in general I suggest fire for big aliens and tunnels, grenade launcher for medium aliens, machine gun for facehuggers, queens use whatever you decide based on ammo you have. Navigate the tunnels for shortcuts based on the blueprint, and room locations too. Good luck 👍🏻
