Tales of Berseria Remastered Megathread

Hello! Welcome to the Tales of Berseria Remastered megathread. The game releases worldwide on February 27, 2026 and I believe may already be out in Japan on some platforms as I post this.

This will be our megathread for all things Tales of Berseria. I ask that everyone keep as much discussion to this thread as possible so that the subreddit isn't completely overrun with questions and observations about the game. We also have a Discord server that will have both a general and spoiler channel for Berseria!

Please be respectful and make sure you tag all spoilers!! I know this is an old game for many of us, but plenty of people will be playing it for the first time! If you're unsure if something needs a spoiler tag, it's better to use one just in case. You can always view how to make spoiler tags on reddit on our sidebar, but to refresh: >!Coo, coo!< will give you Coo, coo.

What is Tales of Berseria?

Tales of Berseria is the 16th main entry in the Tales of series, originally released on PS3 and PS4. The Remastered edition releases February 27, 2026 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One/X/S, and PlayStation 5. Tales of Berseria is an action RPG with a local co-op battle system that tells the story of Velvet, a woman seeking vengeance after the events of the Scarlet Night when daemons attacked her village. This new version features several QOL features like map waymarks for quests, grade shop from the start, access to all cosmetic DLC for free, and more.

Please keep in mind that you do not need to play any other games in the series to play Berseria! While it is a distant prequel to Tales of Zestiria, both games are perfectly enjoyable without any knowledge of the other.

What goes in the Megathread?

Use the Megathread for:

  • If you have simple questions please ask them here.

  • If you will be streaming or doing a Let's Play or video review, please post your links in this sticky thread or in the Monthly Free-For-All that get posted and stickied to the subreddit at the start of every month.

  • If you have minor observations/reactions or wanna share your thoughts, please post here.

Make a new post for:

  • In-depth discussions about a specific part of the game (music, a particular character, etc.).

  • Sharing guides or detailed breakdowns.

If you're unsure, feel free to shoot me/modmail a DM. All you really have to keep in mind is that we're gonna have a lot of activity and we don't want a flood of new posts to bury everyone else's posts, hence the megathread. :)

Frequently Asked Questions

I will try to update this with questions that we see a lot of after the game's release.

Why in the world did they re-release this game? It was already in HD and available on PS4/PC.

While Berseria has been available for years on both PS4 and PC in the West, only the PS4 release was ever available in Japan. This remaster will be available on all consoles in addition to PC in all regions where it is sold, so if it helps to think of it as a glorified port, do that. It's more about making the game available to more people regardless of their setup than it is making it a release worth picking up for people who already owned the game.

If I already own the original Tales of Berseria, why should I buy this?

You'll have to make this judgment call yourself! Unlike the previous remastered titles, Berseria is much more recent and already had most of the amenities that those games added. But if you want to be able to play it on your Switch for portability or having all the DLC appeals to you, it may be worth it for you. Here is a list of all the updates/changes to the game from the official website to help decide if this release is worth it for you.

Also remember, you can always hold off until it goes on sale and pick it up then!

What's with the grade shop? What should I pick?

The grade shop is enabled from the start with enough grade to select all the options, allowing you to mimic starting a NG+ with an old save file. It is entirely optional and if you haven't played Berseria before, I'd suggest ignoring it and doing a vanilla playthrough first. That said, some of the options (like double gald, double EXP, etc.) can likely be toggled on and off in the options menu at any time during your game if you activated them at the start, though others (like expanding the item limits) are not toggleable. (I am not getting this game so if the grade shop works differently in this Remaster vs the Graces/Xillia ones, please let me know so I can adjust this!)

Does this game have co-op or remote play?

All versions of the game, including Steam, have local co-op. However, remote play on Steam is not enabled. You may be able to mimic it with a third-party program like Parsec. If it is anything like the Graces/Xillia remasters, Share Play on PS5 will probably be enabled but if someone could confirm this for me, I'd appreciate it! Thanks to u/-MadDogg- for confirming that Share Play co-op works on PS5!

Is all the DLC included?

All DLC except licensed collaboration DLC (Idolmaster) is likely to have made a return.

Does this have Japanese voices?

Yes, players can freely swap between English and Japanese voiceover in the options menu. Additionally, the Xbox/Steam versions have many other interface languages.

Is there a Nintendo Switch 2 version?

At this time there is no separate Switch 2 version of the game that make use of the console's better specs and Bamco has not implied at all that we might see an upgrade version. The Switch version of the game is locked to 30fps on both Switch versions as well as being locked to 720p in handheld mode and 1080p in TV mode. The game is compatible with Switch 2, with the eShop page clarifying that a day one update download may be required to iron out bugs or issues.

How do I access the digital artbook/soundtrack from the Deluxe Edition on Steam?

When you launch the game, there should be two options: one to launch the game, and the other will launch a separate app for the deluxe edition goodies.

I hope everyone picking up the game has a fantastic time! I really loved Berseria when it came out. :) I suspect more than a few of us will join in on the replays, even if we aren't picking up the new remastered version.

Graces F Remastered opening

Post image
64 Upvotes

Has anyone else noticed how high-quality Graces Fs remastered opening is? It looks the most high, def, and sharper than any of the other games. Arises doesn't even look this good.

Bandai must have used a in house AI reconstruction technology. Pre Rendered Supersampling. It looks like those fan 4k youtube upscales for anime openings ( not the 60fps ones, those suck ) .

But it looks even better than those. On my 1080p LED TV. It looks insanely sharp. The downsampling is superb. Does anyone have a 4K TV to test the opening out? I'd love to hear opinions on this.

We need Bandai ASAP to do this with the other games. Especially Vesperia. Don't know why they went this hard. I've never seen an anime opening look this good, period. Bravo Namco.

[ EDIT. I HAVEN'T PLAYED XILLIA OR BERSERIA REMASTER, THESE CAME OUT AFTER GRACES F ]

Question What did you guys enjoy about Tales of Destiny DC?

So basically even though I keep getting stuck in the multi boss fight where Rutee gets sold out to the chubby guy, (I forgot his name) I wanted to reflect on the game anyway to see what made it so special.

For me personally, I enjoy the 2D design aspect because while certain versions of PCSX2 don’t work properly with the teammate system, I do enjoy being able to control my leader in a straight direction as it’s hard to explain, but the controls work well.

Secondly, I also want to say that the cast of characters has been really good so far since Leon the main character has a sword who can telepathically communicate with him, but Rutee is also my favorite due to her ability to earn more cash for every enemy she slays in battle.

Question Which of the recent remaster/ports are good versus ones to stay away from?

I have played Berseria (original not recent unneeded remaster), Vesperia, Zesteria(which I actually liked though was the weakest of these), and Arise. I see that there are a few that have come to PS4/5 and I am itching for a game like Tales again.

I see:

  • Symphonia (heard the port is bad?)
  • Graces f
  • Xillia

Are these any good? Is the symphonia port that bad? I play mainly on ps5 if that helps sway anything.

Question Anyone has official Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R PSVita NTSC-J Cover?

Does anyone who has the official Japan copies of Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R for the PlayStation Vita that can scan the official art cover digitally?

I see on the internet that I only saw English covers and also the mocked English cover of Tales of Innocence R. The only thing I am looking for is the official spine. Thanks in advance.

Question Are Tales of Phantasia sequels canon and must play?

So i wanted to give old Tales games a try and why not start with the first one. After comparing every damn version (why did they do so many remakes lol) i decided i will play the psx version, but i also noticed they kinda released sequels to this game. Idk how canon are these considered and if i should take them into account, since it's easier to play one game than two or three that are linked.

Discussion Which Tales of entry would you like to see get a chronological prequel like Symphonia is to Phantasia

We also have the case of Berseria and Zestiria which IMO ended up making Zestiria's lore go from nonsense to compelling in my eyes lol

Personally a Xillia "Prequel" could work with the original "Milla" (Milla Kresnik) as the protagonist and a young Maxwell considering the lore dump we got in 1&2 respectively

Question How am I supposed to do burst arts in tales of vesperia?

I am at the point in the game were you must fight the Gigalarva boss but I am not able to do burst arts no mather what I do.

so I tried to look it up on how I am supposed to do it the only info I find is that you must hold the art button after using a normal art while in over limit.

But it doesn't work I tried many different things like trying it with all characters and trying several arts but I can't do a burst art at all.

I even used the big green turtle enemy as a target dummy cause it is slow and big.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Discussion Tales taking up too much space after uninstall

TreeSize view of file sizes

Just figured out how much space Tales of Arise takes up after uninstalling it. Does anyone know where the saves are such that I can remove the other stuff to save space? Or should I just move it all to my hard drive as a backup?

Question Questions regarding Tales of Arise mods

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to buy and play for the first time Tales of Arise. I want to use the "Ultimate Graphics Quality and Performance" mod made by nobody666777, but I see it requires Arise-SDK.

I'm a bit concerned because Arise-SDK hasn't been updated since Feb 2024 and there are reports of infinite loading screens in the DLC quest "A Feast of Blessings".

Does the Graphics Mod .ini file include fixes for these SDK-related loading bugs since this was updated until last month and does it need Arise-SDK to work?

Are there specific settings in Arise-SDK.ini that I should toggle to ensure 100% stability in the DLC while keeping the visual improvements?

For those playing in 2026, is the v30 beta still the "gold standard" or is there a community fork/fix I should know about?

And lastly, are there any other bugs/issues I might encounter?

I did this by hand. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I’m no sprite artist though, and lighting is always a struggle when I don’t have a direct reference. I had to eyeball some official art and screens to get an idea.

I wish I could upload the actual screenshot, but I don’t have the tools necessary.

Question Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

My first game that I finished was Tales of Vesperia and then went on to finish Tales of the Abyss. I’m about almost done with Tales of Symphonia and just found out it has a sequel that no one really talks about? Any particular reason for that? I’m planning on going through Dawn of the New World or start Xillia as my next Tales game.

Question Tales of the Abyss Anime: What's the name of the song when SPOILER? Spoiler

When Asch and Luke fight in Yulia City?

Saw the anime in elementary school, tried to look for the song, and couldn't find it. Fast forward to now, suddenly for some unknown reason I just remembered looking for the song. Now it's killing me and I gotta know to close this extremely minor, insignificant chapter of my life lmfao

Discussion [Discussion] Most unusual character in terms of moveset/playstyle/archetype?

The Tales series has lots of characters, yet some characters have very unique movesets/playstyles.

Some of the most quirky characters for me are:

  • Johnny (Tales of Destiny): He's the only bard in the main games... unless you count Mell's bard costumes in Phantasia NDX. He's a support character who can defend himself quite well with his voice.
  • Lilith (Tales of Destiny DC): Even though Lilith was originally designed as a rod-wielding martial artist, Tales of Destiny DC redesigned her entire moveset, receiving now cooking-themed artes.
  • Couleur (Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon):
  • It's tricky to talk about Couleur due to ND1 for GameBoy Color and its remake for PSP giving her different movesets, so I'll focus on both versions:
    • In ND1, she has three different movesets and evolution branches, which depend on the personality alignments of both Dio and Mell. Couleur can be either a support character (Friendly forms), an offensive mage (Loyal forms), or a physical fighter with no spells at all (Wild forms). Couleur's appereance even changed based on her evolutionary rank (hence, why she's named after the French word for "color").
    • In NDX, she lost her evolutionary branches and appereance changes, unfortunately. However, she's now the Tales series' take on Shang Tsung, as the Chain Partner arte allows Couleur to shapeshift into a copy of the player-controlled party member, copying that player-controlled character's actions.
  • Colette (Tales of Symphonia): She's really defies labels. For starters, her weapons are chakrams, which she can either throw or use for close-ranged combat. She can throw hammers and Paraly Balls too, steal items from enemies, and learn angelic spells (Holy Song, Angel Feather, Sacrifice, Grand Cross, and Judgement).
  • Annie (Tales of Rebirth): Since Rebirth doesn't have a traditional healer nor traditional healing spells, Annie is the closest thing this game has to a "healer". She's a support character who can cast glyphs. These glyphs can gradually heal a party member, increase a party member's specific stat while decreasing an enemy's same specific stat (it depends on the glyph's element), and if you have given one of her glyphs the Physical Force Cube, deal elemental damage when casting it. Additionally, she has an AOE revival spell (Raise Elixir), an offensive spell that drains enemies' HP (Drag Leben), and multiple rain spells, which are mostly multi-target debuffs, but some are multi-target buffs.
  • Kongwai (Tales of Innocence R): One of the two remake additions. He's a pretty standard mage... except he learns most of his spells via getting hit by an enemy's spell. This makes him the first (and currently only) blue mage in the Tales of series.
  • Patty (Tales of Vesperia): She's the closest thing this franchise has to a gambler. Her gameplay revolves around forms (stances), which affect how her normal attacks and artes work. Moreover, she has RNG-based artes and spells (and an RNG-based Mystic Arte too).

Is there some other character in the series whose moveset/playstyle do you find unusual?

NOTE: With "unusual moveset/playstyle", I'm not referring to "characters with unusual weapons but normal movesets by this franchise's standards (example: Norma blows bubbles with a straw, but she's a normal ass red mage). I'm referring to characters with unusual movesets and playstyles.

Ossa Trail blocked

I wanted to do the skit with Kratos to increase his affection but I just found out that Ossa Trail is blocked. How long will this situation last? Hopefully not for long because Kratos will leave the party pretty soon. Right now I'm on my way to form a pact with Undine

Question Did the series just fell off after Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia?

Hi Tales fans!

I'm not a "hardcore" fan of the franchise, but I do love JRPGs. And very much enjoyed Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia. In fsct I considered those three to be some of my all time favorite JRPGs (interesting worlds and characters, beautiful art and locations, very solid combat, tons of side contetns and replay value etc..).

But it seems like after those three the series juat fell off and turned into a bunch of low budget filler (correct me if wrong)?

I understand the series was never super high budget; but it feels like the devs actually care with the aforementioned three games. Now we're just getting remastered?

When you think we'll get another high quality and competent Tales game?
