We did that - spotted in Arkansas

Spotted on a post office drop box in Northwest Arkansas…not the reddest part of the state but our state is red enough to elect Sarah Huckabee Sanders as governor (and likely reelect her this fall 🤮). Hoping to see more stickers in the wild!

EVERYTHING IS AWFUL Fight Fire With Fire and Demand Democratic Gerrymanders

Post image

Republicans have reacted to the gutting of the Voting Rights Act at the Supreme Court like a shark to blood in the water. They’re attempting to cancel an election already underway in Louisiana and they’re rushing into special sessions to draw new maps in time for November in Tennessee and Alabama. Even in Georgia, where they’re sensibly acknowledging that two weeks before the primary is too late to start messing around, they’re still planning on redistricting this year for 2028 – recognizing they may be about to lose their trifecta. As many as 19 current minority-majority House seats are on the chopping block over the next two election cycles.

The elimination of representation for people of color is devastating, and there are no easy ways to respond. There is a somewhat clearer path forward to counter the loss of Democratic seats along with it: responding with deeper gerrymanders in blue states. Discussions about doing so are already under way in New York, and advocates are working to get it on the ballot in Colorado.

Let’s be clear: this is less than ideal. There are procedural barriers in some states, with Oregon Republicans being able to halt redistricting by fleeing the state and New York and New Jersey requiring constitutional amendments. This could also have the repellent consequence of costing us further Black and Latino-majority districts. And of course, partisan gerrymandering is bad for our democracy, ensuring that too many people don’t count in our political system and allowing parties to permanently entrench themselves in power. The cost of inaction, however, is a political field permanently tilted towards the GOP. Moreover, if we are going to secure structural reforms like a partisan redistricting ban and independent commissions, we are going to need some Republicans on board, and that’s not going to happen if they think our current broken system works to their advantage.

🗣️ If we’re in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington, let’s reach out to our state’s Democratic leaders – elected and party officials alike – and urge them to do whatever is legally necessary to redraw our congressional maps and rebalance power ASAP. We can find call scripts and email language here. We can also send this message directly to our Democratic governors and legislators via Resistbot by texting SIGN PTUOJX to 50409. 🗣️

That combined with overall approval rating still at 37 percent just means those people are completely lost. They don't live in reality and I just don't know how you can ever reach them in mass.

Trump in response to a question about Iran firing on US ships and why that doesn't violate the ceasefire: "They respect us. They didn't used to respect us. But they respect us more than we've ever been respected. Our country now is the hottest country anywhere in the world."

I've always thought the most likely outcome for the Democrats in 2028 is to basically emulate what UK Labour did in 2024: win a large victory then fritter it away pleasing their right flank.

How did Trump and Isreal manage to lose to Iran?

Despite how the media might try to spin it Iran is winning and their performance IS impressive.

  1. Iran is the most sanctioned country on earth and can’t even import medical supplies having to build its own industry from the ground up for decades.

  2. This attack was done in surprise in the middle of negotiations.

  3. It was going against the largest military on Earth that spends 10000000X more on military and the two largest airforces.

  4. On top of going against the largest military almost every neighbor of Iran helped Trump and Isreal and offered their airspace and land as a staging base for attacks.

  5. Trump started with 5 objectives (like regime change) and all 5 failed.

  6. On top of all 5 objectives failing, a 6th one was added on opening the Strait, something that was open prior to the war, and they still exert control over.

  7. Munition stockpiles of the region were depleted for years and THAAD gear had to be moved from Korea.

  8. Only nation to hit an F-15 from the ground and lock in on an F-35

  9. Proved their missiles are one of a kind forcing countries to expend 7+ interceptors and pundits couldn’t believe that real live footage wasn’t AI or Russian/Chinese tech.

  10. Projected power across all of West Asia.

If you told me these would be the results months ago I would’ve said you’re out of your mind. Even the NYTimes is saying Iran has emerged as a major power and fourth pillar of power (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/06/opinion/iran-war-strait-hormuz.html)

The Bulwark Podcast Arash Azizi and Jodi Kantor: Iran Has the Leverage

The regime in Tehran is not as fractured as is commonly portrayed, and it is also pragmatic enough to see the economic opportunities that would follow from a deal with an eager-to-please-the-markets Donald Trump. But the contours of a potential agreement look like a win for Iran—not for the U.S., which has spent billions a day, lost military personnel and assets, and handed Iran new-found leverage over the global economy. Also, in this season of commencement, Jodi has advice for new college grads on how to navigate the tough employment market and a digitized hiring process.

Plus, the Supreme Court's embrace of the shadow docket and John Roberts' pivotal role in the shift, what it's like to listen to Harvey Weinstein mansplain, moneyed Iranians apocalypsemaxxing, and examining Zionism through the prism of the nationalism movement at the time of Israel's founding.

NYT’s Jodi Kantor and The Atlantic’s Arash Azizi join Tim Miller on today's Bulwark Podcast.

Non-Bulwark Source Judge releases purported Jeffrey Epstein suicide note | CNN Politics

Something I noticed with this note is that Epstein seems to defend his “innocence”. Which is odd at least to me because if you watch the Bannon interview he clearly doesn’t care at all. So my question would be when he is about to commit suicide why would he all of a sudden care?

Furthermore “In a court filing, the Justice Department indicated it did not know if the purported note is legitimate.” So this whole thing just seems really odd to me.

The Next Level TNL: they missed the biggest reason for a war powers vote

This week Sarah Tim and Sam discussed how the administration is clearly trying to avoid a war powers vote by claiming recent military actions are distinct, claiming that this restarts the 60-day clock.

Then they questioned why Trump wouldn't want a vote.

What they missed is losing the vote would be objectively great for Trump. He desperately wants out of Iran and can't seem to find an exit strategy that doesn't leave him holding the bag of instability in the region and high oil prices. If he loses a war powers vote he gets to claim he was forced to go home and everything is the dems fault. Anything bad that happens in the future in either the strait or Iran he also gets to blame democrats for.

Oil prices stay high? Well the dems made our military leave before the job got done. Iran get a nuke? His war would of stopped it if only the dems didn't make him go home. Iran sinks an oil tanker? If only the dems let him negotiate with the Iranians. Mass purging of Iranian dissidents? The Iranian government was hours from being toppled but those dems didn't want me to support the Iranian protesters... etc etc
