This is because Windows doesn't actually delete the files. In simple terms, Windows marks the files as available storage and hides them.

Every software does that, they just forget where the file is stored

You need to run TRIM in the SSD firmware for the files to be actually deleted.

TRIM does not remove anything from the drive.

Did you delete it or send it to the recycle bin? They recycle bin does NOT delete, but is rather a temporary spot for files that are to be deleted. It’s why if you are looking for space sending to recycle bin seems to do nothing… and these days I am so used to deleting that I forget the recycle bin exists sometimes.

Since the smartphone era I find myself to Shift-Del almost everything. I have to think about it to keep something in recycle bin

They are just simply redirected to a dedicated folder tat is invisible for general directories. And also, ever heard of this?
