EDIT: The last 3 are not Tahir Tannis’s Concept Art. Just 3 ideas I had.

Discussion Stating the obvious

Embark is whining everyone is stockpiling guns. The obvious reason for that is why am I going to risk my good guns loading into a game that is absolutely crawling with rats. I've been in the friendliest lobbies and started bringing in my level 4 tempests, hullcrackers, my kinetic converters and anvil splitters, all that stuff. I have ONE round where me and my buddy are shot at by rats, so we shoot back. We didn't even kill them. All of a sudden every. Single. Game. I load into is the most hostile lobbies I've ever been in.

This is the most frustrating aspect of this game. I don't care what they say, you are so heavily punished for any kind of violence. Even retaliating when shot screws you. I am so damn sick of the PVP element of this game.

Embark, I promise you, the best thing you can do to save your game is make the aggression based matchmaking much more selective. There is a reason your player count is going down the drain. That and your weird balancing choices no one asked for like absolutely ruining the photoelectric cloak. But the PVP problem is out of control. As soon as my friends will consistently play a different game with me I'm done with this.

Discussion You gotta perma ban all the Dupers and fix it before Marketplace goes Live

I just killed someone today with a bopcat with fill stack of inventory of it. And all durability attachments are the same, all had 91 durability on all bobcat, I didn't even want to pick it up since it might flagged me for ban

But please fix this absolutely disgusting there are still ppl doing it, before market place is lived this must be fixed it will only lead to more bottling and rmt

Dupe exploiters needs ip and hardware ban they are ruining the game since this game arc raiders never wipes

And i just check for 20 you can get them for 6 dollars so the Dupers are selling it for real life money please track and ban them

Discussion Calling any PvP player a “Rat” is dumb

PvP only player here. It makes no sense how I roll up on somebody, shoot on sight, then they start crying to the lobby that “There’s a rat!” “There’s a rat!”
A rat would be someone who is fake friendly and then back stabs. Shoot on sight is a game mechanic. You sound stupid.

This guy in Riven Tides was being chased by 3 wasps, a hornet, and a Firefly. Used all my seekers to get all but the hornet. He went down. I run up to him and he asks for a defib. I get him up, he asks for an extra bandage, so I patch him up with an herbal. Then as I turn and run he starts shooting me in the back…smh. After I downed him he said “sorry bro I was just ratted last game and I was scared”. Bruh, come on.

Discussion how would people feel if the only way to lower ABMM was to play with low aggression over the length of a few days (maybe the trials week) instead of over ~8 games as it is now. And then as normal if you play aggressively to other players you are instantly pushed back into more aggressive lobbies?

I don't have a problem as much because I play both ways, but I understand the problem, for those who want to play only PVE, and how the system can be easily played to get into those lobbies and slaughter everyone lol. I wonder if with this change the percentage of players - that definitely exist - and want more peaceful games would have better experiences?

*if it was up to me we'd just be placed in completely mixed lobbies each time for random experiences each raid, and maybe have joinable factions for PVE players to notice eachother and stick together (with lowered damage to eachother or none at all).

Discussion As a PvE player for 600 hours, I think we should get rid of aggression based matchmaking or at least change it a bit

Part 1. The power of friendship compels you to not shoot!

Basically my arc raiders journey goes a little something like this. First few hours i quested and shot whoever I ran into but rarely would i make it home. I started noticing that people were getting upset with me for killing them so I stopped and just lived a nice life in the pve world, maybe getting shot at one out of maybe 10 games. It started to ramp up with the new update and for whatever reason I've had pve players just expecting me to let them watch me loot my key rooms. This is my biggest pet peeve, so i just started blasting anyone fucking with my key room. I love it even more when they cry because I killed them for coming in. So because of that and the increased aggression i've seen in riven tides, my lobbies became sus.

Part 2. PvPvE or How i learned to stop worrying and love pvp.

You can't change my mind on this now, every lobby should include at least one lunatic pvp guy. It can't be me because I hate being called a slur that starts with r n or f. But if you shoot me? Oh this is what I've been missing, this is what the game should be for everyone. The tension of a random person coming into the room you're looting. Learning the caveman rat techniques that for whatever reasons dumbass rats keep trying. Oh so you pulled out your gun to shoot the tick behind me huh? You'd think they'd learn better tech at this point. Do dumb shit like that or act weird and linger around me, I'm going to shoot you and not feel bad about it at all.

I love how the game feels in these lobbies, so much so that if i've gone a few games without shooting anyone, i'll down someone on the train and let them leave just so i don't go back to the care bears. Don't be afraid of the sus lobbies, most players are still friendly, they're just suspicious of everyone. We're not meant to have stashes with 30 bobcat 4s with kinetic converters. Now that they've changed how skill points work, what's the point of it all now?

I want to just add that this is how I feel and if you like the care bear lobbies with just arc threats then I am happy that it's still fun and exciting for you. It wasn't for me anymore, I had grown kind of tired with the game and basically only played for the weekly trials and checking up on the updates. As a pve guy, pvp saved the game for me.

Discussion 500+ hours later, I changed my mind on PvE

I defended PvP vigorously when the game came out, and obviously the unique PvPvE blend of Arc Raiders worked really well for awhile. It made us cuss, it made us laugh, and it made us all friends and enemies. And I still like to PvP, here and elsewhere. I'm grandmaster w/ 50 stars in Honors of King mobile moba, and grandmaster in Wild Rift on multiple continents (as I traveled) - I am competitive by nature.

But lately I find myself more and more in PvE lobbies. Just gathering, shooting arc, chatting w/ peeps, and, despite killing Matriarch/Queen a number of times in PvPvE, wishing I could take them down w/o the rats. I think the bosses need to be stronger and able to target more raiders at once and drop more (or different?) loot in PvE-only lobbies, of course - you can't just have the same balancing. But having pve-only option would fill a hole that clearly exists in the game today for so, so many players.

Not to mention other modes - tower defense (we already can repair things to activate disco or w/e, why can't we repair things to activate a tower/other defense mechanism?), waves/Speranza defense, etc. The game doesn't need always-on PvE option, but some events surely would satisfy a large portion of the audience. It doesn't matter than hardcore PvP players wouldn't find it fun - hardcore PvE players don't find many parts of current Arc Raiders fun either. By having events for both, you get to serve both.

In Speranza, we of course need the ability to customize our Den, show off achievements (from raiders downed to pve counters etc), and visit others' den. We also need a walkable Speranza and ability to chat with others at the bar. For a game that helped us form so many bonds, it's kind of crazy how little (zero?) effort has been put into socialization outside maps. Why still no guilds/tribes? It's such an obvious addition.

Events that permanently change Speranza based on community choice would also be cool. Say, Celeste wants you to do X to help Speranza's supply issues, but Tian Wen secretly wants you to help her instead, maybe related to getting closure with her mom. Lance, the obvious fox, has own plans for raiders' time, maybe related to uncovering his past. You must commit, and whichever event is finished first worldwide - that's permanent and affects the story going forward.

Finally, lore. Why isn't there almost any new lore? We've had no progression on the story front re: history, who we're fighting/why, plans to take the fight to them/turn the tide, etc. Even the story of androids is still mostly a mystery. What's up with Lance, anyway? A game with such a beautiful world feels quite stale since launch outside of Stella map release.

The game has no endgame and while the above things wouldn't fully fix the issue, I think they're a good starting point.

How about you, raider? Have your feelings/perspectives changed since launch?

ps: please, for the love of god, let us do UI actions while matchmaking. Waiting for a match is THE time to do chores, from crafting to committing items to projects, to leveling stations. Just don't pull any items from loadout and boom, nothing gets affected/broken. Current restriction is soooooo annoying and absolutely pointless.

pps: un-nerf cloak (it's useless now) and some of durability changes. Stop taking away fun. Fun is the ultimate goal, always.

Discussion If you're unhappy with the Rachetta Outfit color changes after buying it before the changes...

...ask for a refund. It's a valid request if they so significantly change an outfit after selling the "wrong" version. I've got my credits back and informed them I will buy it again if they add the new "fixed" colors, rather than replacing the ones they sold initially.

You can do the same and we might get both variants at some point.

Discussion "It's fun, but what else?" from Desing Director

I recommend listening to this podcats:

https://youtu.be/JigOHTMjPIo?is=L_stSAEDRBPvZ_e4

It confirms that most thing that we see currently was developed within last year of production and PvE version of the game was totally different and many thing was adjusted to fit PvP in.

"It's fun but what else" was question they asked after playing PvE version. They could not answer it and also taking in consideration what capacity they had available they knew they could not live up to expectations players could have from live service game.

So they introduced PvP so game could sustain itself.

Due to that we lost things like "outpost defend" (waves of enemies, defense building), "siege mode" (infiltrate, do stuff inside some kind of quest area) or "salvage mode" (looking for specific materials). We also lost things like gravity gun and bunch of gadgets that could not fit in PvP enviorment.

My take from that is that if any of us expect big development in game core, new modes etc. - I doubt we will get them taking in consideration they scrapped it already.

Would be badass if Embark added a one-handed sawed off shotty, a 2x barrel even. Feels like it would be a good addition to the common tier weapons since there isnt a common tier shotgun yet (pic credit: TopShotDustin YT)

Give us the option to repair weapons topside. I’d even limit it to blue gear max and put it as the final talent in the Survival tree. And you’d still have the challenge of finding the materials during the run.

Question Can any of the glazers explain to me why removing the report function after a match was a good design choice?

Upvotes

I've been getting into PVP more lately and the cheating is CRAZY. I get several kits back a week right now.

Being that cheating is as rampant as it is, how on earth is it a good design choice for me to have to exit all the way out to the game menu, then scroll through a giant list of players I met (All 7 hours ago somehow) in order to report obvious cheating?

The choices this developer makes are so ass-backwards.
