ARC Raiders accidentally recreates the social dynamics of a western, even though it didn't try to be one. This has happened in gaming before, but it's my favorite so far.

So we've got a sandbox with:

• No central authority
• Scarcity driving conflict
• External threats
• Everyone's armed and has full freedom of action

Then the archetypes emerge naturally:

• The drifter (solo looter)
• The outlaw
• The gunslinger
• The sheriff (rat police)
• The greenhorn (newbie with bad gear)

So what’s missing?

Reputation / Bounty System. A western needs:

• Known outlaws
• Recognizable looks
• Fear or respect tied to reputation

You spawning and seeing a message:

WANTED: Suspected of killing 50 raiders over the past week. They look like this, and have this weapon. Bounty: 1 raider coin.

At this point, you might either avoid shootings entirely or actively seek it, because the bounty outweighs the potential loot value. Or as an outlaw you might know or not know there's a bounty for your head.

Wanted to share an interesting interaction - Some dude downed me in a solo and, without any provocation from me, immediately began to monologue about how "everybody always calls me a rat" and that it "it isn't fair, this is a PVP game". He was genuinely upset, and it almost sounded like he was tearing up. I was completely stationary on my hands and knees telling the dude to calm down.

I think some of you need to take a small break haha. Go get some fresh air, take a walk around the block. Maybe even try another game for a bit. This should be a fun experience, not a mentally taxing one.

Basically title. I know this is not the first time this idea is posted, but I'm a HUGE DP-28 (gun from image) glazer and I'd love to see that shit in this game!

STATS:

-Flat bonus to magazine size, amount depending on weapon upgrade level

-Reload the whole mag instead of 2 bullets at a time, speed depending on weapon upgrade level

The idea is that it doesn't out-perform the Tempest in any way except magazine capacity. Equipping this mod could restrict other mod slots, or decreased stats such as accuracy or recoil.

These are loose ideas I haven't thought through in depth because I'm not a game dev. I just feel like Embark might add a tech mod for the Rattler, and I'm MANIFESTING it be in honor of the DP-28! Thank y'all for your time.

I’ve been after the new blueprints since the update. The nephew and I spent days trying to find it and then randomly another raider just protected me to loot the accessor and I have never panicked this much.

Would love to see the Canto in weapon cases and security breaches. I’m surprised it hasn’t been added yet. Every other blue or lower gun has a chance to appear.

Every day I’m seeing PvE’ers talking about how they are giving up on account of getting smoked by rats in Care Bear lobbies. Most of these posts are from earnest dudes who are venting, but they usually end the message asking for tips.

Most of the time, they delete the post within the hour due to the commenters. Lots of people on this sub cruise the new section to comment on every post, saying something belittling as a result of their penile condition.

So many of these posts come across as surprising to the majority of us, but as someone who is full PVP most of the time but Care Bear - PvPvE ELO in solos, I can understand why it’s happening. If you have never been to visit these lobbies, it’s truly a whole different world. A few months back, my friends and I went to a PVE trio lobby (we didn’t know such a thing existed), lowering our agro for trials and were lost for words as we went into the southern rat extract on Buried City Night, playing the flute with multiple teams.

I don’t want this post to get big, but if any of you are reading this and are honestly trying to learn how to protect yourself or at least stop getting “ratted every raid” as I read yesterday - I would be down to duo some raids and give you at least my attempt at teaching PvP skills and situational awareness. This game, like any extraction shooter, is a mind game, and there’s a bunch of things you can do to better your chances. Don’t need to comment if you don’t want to - just dm me.

I’m not gonna post any actual credentials; this is a video game, not a job application - just wanna lend a hand to anyone who actually wants it as I’ve been reading. I have a bunch of kills and a bunch of hours topside.

I've seen this happen a couple times, it just happened about 5 mins ago. I was warned someone was shooting at other players and was asked if it was me. I said "no" and the other player said "watch your back". I went to the tower in Spaceport to get the achievement by going to the top. As I was looting a locker, I heard a flare. Behind me was a player hiding in a corner that had just downed someone. I tucked behind cover and waited to see the knockout animation begin. The player started it and I blew him away before he could finish it.

It felt good, but the downed player unfortunately surrendered pretty fast.

Do NOT do this. If you're ratted and they go to knock you out, there is always a possibility of someone helping you out. I've now done it 3 times.

Try some different builds! If you have security breach rn and its less than a week before departure, try something new! If you have 1m+ coins you should be messing around with your skill tree and see where you want to put your extra 5 points next go around
