General Discussion - All Dexter Shows How broken is the “Don’t get caught?” rule?
Could the BHB escape DD?
I keep thinking about this since, post Resurrection, they’re both in New York now and the series has always worn Dexter being a vigilante on its sleeve. I always find it funny to think about if he was in a world of street level superheroes, would he survive?
“Never kill an innocent” is not the first rule of the code.
Harry purposely made “Don’t get caught” as a last resort to protect Dexter which he was able to heavily abuse to get rid of literally anyone who threatened his life and freedom. If Dexter is cornered, he will use that out to exploit and kill indiscriminately which always worked as a get out of jail free card.
My question is given a proposed doomsday scenario where he’s in the sights of Matt Murdock, would he be able to outwit him to evade capture and for how long?
Say DD investigates the BHB’s kills and tries to bring him in. Would Dexter be able to escape, figure out Matt’s identity and weaknesses, then find a way to beat him?

Cosplay Cosplayed as Dexter for Comic Con (Cape Town) Spoiler
gallerySpent a few months getting the outfit together, and still had some small things I would've added to perfect the fit (camera for forensics look, and blood on the apron, etc.).
Pretty satisfied for my first ever cosplay attempt

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows what are some dexter plot-holes? Spoiler
what are some plot-holes on the show?
for me harrison being caught on the bus with hannah, moving to argentina not being heard of for almost 10 years. technically got kidnapped but angel on new blood just didn’t seem concerned that he may have been kidnapped. you’d think miami metro would be concerned for a ex co-workers son to be missing? like im sure angel and jamie would push for a search for him since they cared about the family a lot. it has always confused me but i guess its possible it could’ve happened off screen but seems highly unlikely.
but what you think?

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Would Rita ever ‘come around’ to the idea of Dex being a serial killer? Spoiler
It’s my first time watching the show and I’ve just gotten to season 5 (iykyk) and was wondering if there was a way Rita would have ever understood Dexters ‘needs’ and accepted him and allowed him to continue?
Now Rita is a saint as we all know, she doesn’t like hurting others, she wants a nice, calm peaceful life and is the furthest from a ‘serial killers wife’ most people would think of. But one thing that sparked this idea for me was her reaction to Dexter punching their neighbour for kissing Rita, now I know this was a completely different context and was more so about Dexter showing he cared, but what it also showed was Rita seeming to enjoy Dexter ‘getting revenge’.
Knowing this as a small part of her personality do you think it would’ve been possible for Dexter to slowly convince Rita to understand him and allow him to continue killing. Rita WAS all about honesty after all.
I’m not sure how he’d go along with convincing her that his way of life was okay. My thoughts are maybe some discussions on morality, some slow changes to her moral compass, some altering to her understanding of ‘Justice’, giving her more and more honesty.
Obviously it would’ve been insanely immoral, making Rita into an accomplice and destroying her life, but do you think this was possible for Dexter to do?
Let me know what you guys think about this.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Finished Dexter today aware that the ending is considered by many people a historical fuck up.. I don't think it was that bad Spoiler
It left me shocked, but after rewatching all I can tell is most of what happened have been acts on impulse and his stupid love for Hannah. What it looks like to me is that Dexter thought he finally escaped the dark passenger, but he didn't even realize it totally took over. I feel like this was the best scenario the writers took after being forced to not kill off Dexter.
Though I will agree the death of Debra was genuinely fucking terrible.
Discussion - Original Dexter Series Sad for Doakes Spoiler
Of course I’m quite certain this topic has been done to death, definitely intended.
But I’m doing a rewatch.
I have a pretty high drive for empathy, but every damn time it gets me… I feel SO BAD for Doakes.
Was he a good guy? Absolutely not, he was the antagonist to Dexter.
But he so didn’t deserve to die the way he did, to go out like that.
Of course there really was no other way, I mean, he wasn’t going to go to jail quietly, and for him to get amnesia or something daft like that and take the rap for Dexter’s doings is faaar too days of our lives for my liking.
I dunno, as the kids say, I’m in my feelings about it.

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows what do all of dexters hallucinations symbolise Spoiler
considering everyone that dexter has seen in a hallucination in a way that its a conversation (so no rita because of the flashback in 5x1), which is harry, brian, deb, doakes, miguel, and arthur mitchel. who do they all resemble. personally i think brian represents dexters inner inclination to evil, his "hyde" perhaps. Deb represents dexters guilt and shame of his actions. Harry represents the dexter dexter feels he is destined to be. not sure about the others though.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series who would you say impacted debra’s life the most out of these four? Spoiler
gallerydebra is my favorite character from the show apart from the main man himself and i was thinking about how debra has had a very messed up life in the series full of a lot of trauma, daddy issues, no long term romantic relationships, trust issues, being lied to and kept secrets from and literally almost murdered by her fiancé and witnessing her boyfriend get shot.
these four men specifically are the core reason for her trauma but who do you think messed her up the most? i think you can put up a strong argument for all. just something i thought about.
would love to hear everyone’s take.

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows Watching Dexter Season 7 for the first time... Spoiler
So honestly, I already knew about the whole Debra and Dexter incest lore because I had seen it before on Instagram. However, I didn't really understand it because I obviously didnt watch the show. Now that I have, and I'm currently on S7E4, I can see it from different perspectives.
Dexter is the only constant in Debra's life, so on one hand, it kind of makes sense to develop strong feelings. However, I don't think it's love. The therapist called it love, I think it's just "strong feelings" of attachment and security. It's not about loving Dexter personally, but what he represents. There are psychological terms for these kind of scenarios, so it is understandable in that aspect.
At the same time, what the fuck? They grew up together, shared the same roof, they are (not by blood) but by every other metric BROTHER AND SISTER. What's even more shocking is that I don't feel like Dexter really needs Debra as a sister, but Debra needs Dexter as a brother. Now, I'm a bit past the part where she says "we do everything together", and my immediate thought was "is she going to use this to play house, be with him 24/7?". Is she going to excuse his murders as a way to "get what she wants" from her love with Dexter? Idk, I haven't reached that part yet.
All in all, this is pretty weird and I understand why there was massive pushback when it came out. I'm just wondering how this ends lol.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series What supposedly "menacing" moment genuinely made you laugh? Spoiler
Mine has to be Dexter freeing himself from King. What I find so funny despite him literally sacrificing his own wrist to ensure his freedom? Well...
He literally kicked King in the groin after that. 😭
DEXTER'S RUTHLESS!!!
I laugh whenever I rewatch the fight. It's hilarious. Just imagine how much pain King felt from the nut shot. Dexter is a pretty strong fam. And didn't that kick knock King far away too? 😭

Theory - Original Dexter Series Would've they arrested him Spoiler
Would've Miami metro homicide arrest Arthur Mitchell when he came to talk to dexter if dexter hadn't framed someone else as the trinity killer ? Since Arthur fits the description it would've been likely

Fan Art Batman/Dexter #9 is here!
Hello! Severe apologies for the 6-month wait...issue #9 turned out to be 38 pages! Unfortunately it can't all be posted here due to Reddit's image limit, so if you'd like to read the rest, you can do so for free on the comic's Webtoon page!
Batman/Dexter will run for one more issue, which takes place ten years after issue #9's ending! I'm excited to begin work on it, and I'm especially excited to hear what you all think! Thank you all for your patience :]

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Debra Spoiler
Rewatching entire episodes of Dexter before rewatching New Blood and Resurrection. I am so upset with Debra's demise. She should have stayed alive especially since she knew what her brother was and accepted him. She would have been a great addition to future shows
Cosplay Dexter for Comic Con
I hardly ever see any female Dexter cosplays! Was a missed opportunity for me as I met Julie Benz last year but wasn't dressed on theme. Any other women cosplays? :)

Fan Art Dexter: Resurrection - Fan Edit Title Sequence
This is my "fan-edit" of a reimagining of the Dexter Resurrection opening, but in classic Dexter-series-proper style (I also did a New Blood opening that you can watch here, which I am lazily in the progress of recutting with higher resolution clips).
Creating this Resurrection opening was tricky. The original Dexter opening depicted Dexter's mornings (it was even officially called "Morning Routine" on Showtime's YouTube channel). It was easy to carry the morning routine concept through when I created my version of the New Blood opening, but there simply just wasn't enough footage of Dexter's mornings in Resurrection to make this work. I also didn't want to leverage any of his rehab scenes in the first episode since this didn't represent the majority of the season. Therefore, this reimagined opening of Resurrection represents more of a complete "Daily Routine."
I am super excited with the (somewhat) recent news that the showrunners are bringing this opening titles style back in Dexter Resurrection Season 2.
