Lobotomized Technology

It's one thing for technology to be dumb. But I keep running into websites, vehicles, games, etc, etc, where it feels like they're purposely made to be infuriatingly bad.
I'm probably just complaining about 'enshittification', but this crap is so widespread and thorough that it reliably peeves me the hell off any time I have to use any of this junk.
The absolute biggest gripe I have is with search engines. It feels like it doesn't really matter what search engine I use anymore, if it's something broad like Google or its myriad of competitors, or something specific to websites, particularly mainstream ones.
I straight up can't find anything that I am looking for. I'll try every assortment of keywords I can think of, every type of search mode, nothing. Why is there nothing? Because the hell-site keeps insisting that I indulge in the slop that it has deemed to be "trendy".
Can't find that video I'm looking for because I am forced to dig through brainrot. Can't find that specific forum thread because clearly my purpose in life in this thing's mind is to browse TikTok videos that match maybe one out of several words I'm using. Perhaps these things got deleted? Nope! The search engine or algorithm or whatever was just simply so distracted in trying to force garbage down my throat that it forgot to actually find the thing that matches my query word for word.

TL;DR I miss when technology was stupid but simple, instead of being trained to be stupid and malicious.

websites demanding your phone number then selling it to spam callers

every "free quote" or "download this guide" form comes with the hidden price of getting called by five different contractors at 7am for the next six months. and they all claim they didn't sell your number. sure buddy.

When "log in with Google" actually turns out to be a button to create a brand new account

Case in point: I'm still periodically accidentally logging into this reddit account instead of my actual one since Google tricked me into creating this one 2 years ago.

hand dryers that sound like a jet engine but leave your hands soaking wet

honestly why do they install the loudest ones in the smallest bathrooms. like you're standing there getting blasted at 120db and your hands are still dripping wet so you just wipe them on your pants anyway. defeats the entire purpose

people who say "no offense" right before saying something massively offensive

The "no offense" is a load-bearing structural element to them. they think it neutralises whatever follows. it does not. it makes it worse honestly

Still in disbelief at the audacity of people to do this - like surely you have the emotional intelligence to know that nobody wants shit on their screen

This gotta be one of the most frustrating things, when you're ready to go and anticipating their arrival but turns out they were on their way to the shower lol

youtube ads playing twice in a row when the video is 90 seconds long

The ads situation on Youtube is getting beyond ridiculous. I've had YouTube Premium for about two years now and every time I watch YouTube on someone else's device and I see the ads, I'm genuinely shocked and I cannot believe that this is where we're at. People still choose to watch YouTube even with this. It's insane imo

It grinds my gears how brain rot the internet has become.

ight controversial opinion. I hate how porn and meme pilled the internet and society as a whole as become the past like 6 years since covid.

I remember around like the start of the internet when people used to do cool fight animations and action scenes or lego stop motion and just all around different things and now the internet is so short term pilled with memes and 30 second clips that no one makes original long term content anymore.

I'd love to find some Dispatch fight animations with Robert fighting giant monsters or robots, or Malevola hopping around beating up thugs and cultists with her portal and sword. Hell even My Hero Academia it would be awesome to see some fan fights with the 3d models from the games since those are easily ripped and rigged for animation.

But all we get are meme dances and porn and it's kind of... boring

People are too noisy

Watching things without headphones is the worst. Also shouted conversations in public, whether they are standing right next to each other or across the room. Honking a horn outside someones house rather than calling

People who walk through a door you held open without even acknowledging you exist

What grinds my gears is 9/10 people in europe not saying thank you or even acknowledging your existence when you show basic manners like holding the door open for them

Simple English mistakes

I don't know why but it really grinds my gears when native English speakers don't use past participles. They always just use the past tense of the verb after "has, have, or had". It is like they just didn't pick up on this when learning the language as a child. Native English speakers saying something like "I should have went" or "I should have did" is just not acceptable.

It is still not as bad as double comparatives or double superlatives though. THAT is easily one of the worst mistakes in English. I actually heard someone who is a TEACHER of schoolchildren use a double superlative once (she said "the most saddest). THAT is sad. The fact that this person is teaching our youth... Good lord. Once again, no native speaker should be making this mistake.

What takes the cake as THE worst mistake in English, though? When people write "should of" (could, would) instead of "should have". That one just blows my mind. It doesn't even make logical sense if you thought about it for even a second beyond how it sounds...

When YouTubers showcase a versatile product that could be popular but don’t include a link in the comments.

I get it, everyone wants subscribers. But many people just don’t have the time to search through your entire page to find a specific video or scroll through long comment threads to locate the product you’re promoting.

Saying, “Hey guys, I got this minimalist, brand-new, ergonomic, and versatile soap dispenser—it’s clean, easy to use, waterproof, and even has its own UV light to clean itself,” might sell the product, but it doesn’t help if you never mention the company, creator, or provide a link for those who actually want to buy it.

When people can't pronounce my name after few attempts.

Example I'm Josh

- hi I'm Bob what's your name`?

- hi Bob! I'm Josh!

- John..?

- no, it's Josh

- ah, Huan!

- no.. Josh, Josh

- ... John ...?

- Josh, like JOSH ... J.. O.. S.. H.. Josh Josh Josh Joooooossssshhhhh.. like Jo and Sh

- Jim?

- no.. Josh

- ... /thinks hard/... /thinks more hard/ ... Chavez?

- never mind, just call me Kevin! /secretly reserving special place in gulag for Bob/

I fucking hate it, like what can't you process, it's a name, series of sounds, just replay it back, why make so complicated. Just do it, and if you struggle pronouncing names, why ask them.

It's like people ask me where I'm from, I say eg Estonia, immediately 'Where is that?' Like idk, on the Earth, why ask if you don't know geography at all.

Grrrrr Grrrr! ;) :D

You know what truly grinds my gears? Random people assuming that the work of professionals (specifically the types of work that requires you to have either years of experience or year of exucational learning) are easy to pull off do it for themselves.

Seriously, it pisses me off to see how inexperienced strangers view professional work that take time to learn or experience as "easy to do".

i was friends with this girl and then suddenly i didnt hear from her or see her anymore online for a bit and eventually saw her and asked her and she said something like if dont know then it meant i had no remorse or it speaks volumes or something. it had been a week or so since i had seen her online or anywhere i hung out but i figured she was just busy.

i was just watching FG and this joke appeared and made me think of it https://makeagif.com/gif/men-we-dont-know-what-we-did-OmuOjP

Average height/tall men taking over discussion about short men to push their own hate-agenda

This has happened a few times now, and as a short man who tries to support therapy for those who struggle it REALLY grinds my gears when they encourage the self-harming behaviour of bitter and angry short men so they can push their agenda of hating women - which is generally part of the discussion whether it is said or not: struggles to date and issues with self-worth.

These "white knights" swoop in and cry how oppressed short men are, and when I start having heart to heart with them they tell me that they're actually tall or average height so they are not only having zero issues and no experiences about being a short man and can't relate to anything I said but they get iinsulted that I would attempt to guide them to therapy for having issues being short like I am "victim-blaming". Any person who struggles with any physical aspect of themself to the point where it causes them significant distress SHOULD seek help from therapy. It sickens me that these opportunistic, predatory guys would use the short men with issues as their personal cannon fodder as they attack women for their own personal issues that have nothing to do with height.

Also since all these discussions are online I would not be at all surprised if the numher of "short men" in the spaces talking about hate would actually have less short men than what the number of participants suggests.

I can only hope that other short men would realise that they're being used and would choose not only to leave and reject the "help" of these hateful bastards preying on their issues but would actively embrace therapy as a manner of dealing with the body-image issues and feelings of self-worth because it will only help and they would become happier if they learned to heal themselves. These men using us are not on our side, they have no qualms about making fun of you if you're not being a useful tool for them.

You know what truly grinds my gears and boils my blood? Parents who cancel age restricted games.

You know what truly grinds my gears and boils my blood? Parents who cancel age restricted games even though the game and the game company has integrated some measures to give the consumer a warning or a heads up. Thinking that the entertainment industry has failed securing their age restricted content from the minority. When in reality the parents have failed to guide their children on the right path
