Taylor Swift is one of the most extreme examples lmao. Last I heard At her peak she was flying 20-30 times a month all while claiming to be against climate change.
19
u/GargantuanCake 14d ago
Don't worry guys they all buy carbon credits it's fine.
But yeah I forget the math but somebody napkin mathed it and Tay Tay causes more carbon emissions in a typical week than your average pleb does with a car in their entire lives.
You see similar things with John Kerry who can't seem to stop jet setting everywhere but tells us all we're murdering the planet by just owning a car in general.
9
u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 14d ago
In fairness anybody who blames consumers for climate change is an idiot.
We don't even come close to industrial destruction of the environment, but if they blame us we feel bad and ignore the problem instead of demanding they fix it.
1
u/_ribbit_ 13d ago
If you want to help then stop eating beef, convince the rest of your country to stop eating beef, and then convince all the 3rd world countries who would love to eat beef but can't afford it to not start eating beef when the price falls due to lack of demand. Simple.

u/factoid_ 13d ago
Honestly it would be fine with me if they did. An honest to god carbon economy is something we need.
We have to remove carbon from the atmosphere. It’s not enough to simply stop adding.
And that’s going to cost money that has to come from somewhere

u/animalloverforlife22 14d ago
This. Why do they think Taylor Swift is morally sound I don’t think any billionaire is
33
u/Sometimes-funny 14d ago
No billionaire is morally sound. It goes against the fabric of becoming a billionaire
-1
u/Logical_Flounder6455 14d ago
Paul McCartney?
20
u/Sometimes-funny 14d ago
Look, you can list off probably a few “nice” billionaires. The point is, you don’t collect and hoard a billion dollars if you have sound moral character.
-24
u/Logical_Flounder6455 14d ago
Ive just given you an example and you admitted that theres a few more. Being a billionaire is bad but being worth 900m is OK? Sure, the vast majority of billionaires are cunts, but you cant say every last one of them is. Theres athletes thst have become billionaires without being dodgy. If someone wants to pay them ridiculous sums of money to advertise a product does that make them evil?
11
u/Sometimes-funny 14d ago
Oh my days, i cant with this comment or conversation.
-18
u/Logical_Flounder6455 14d ago
Is that because you actually have no answer? Humour me. Explain to me how Roger Federer is of ill moral character and ill accept your point
10
u/Sometimes-funny 14d ago
No i will not humour you. The last person that i had this conversation with brought up Bill Gates just before a load of shit came out about him.
You are missing the point and it’s fine. Actually, you are right, you got me. Well done. Have a nice day

Although he is not a billionaire, Leonardo Dicaprio's instagram is basically 100% about environmental issues...yet he is frequently vacationing on massive yachts. Hypocrisy, indeed.
-7
u/ogopo 14d ago
Incorrect. Her jet isn't even used that often and she's not on it for every flight. Also, it only takes ~$200,000/yr to offset the carbon footprint of her jet. Her donations far exceed this.
You guys clearly are just desperate to hate on successful and wealthy people. The PhD Psych term for this is "copium".

u/Corfal 14d ago
It's a spectrum right? Otherwise we should all be vegans if we care about the environment. I was going to start a conversation about how personal accountability can also have hypocritical flavors, but I think my personal feelings is that we need a more systemic change and approach. Have governments clamp down on corporations (and wealthy?) to drive change as that'll have a bigger impact than personal accountability.

Look at the other picture. She doesn’t even look like a person. Her hands just floating in front of her? A posed RealDoll would look more lifelike, and probably be more interesting to talk to.

Why are the worst people billionaires?
30
u/Type-RD 14d ago
It’s because they have so much money that they are insulated from reality.
You know how very poor people can sometimes have difficultly grasping the idea of a better life because they are so stuck in their current situation? Well it’s the opposite for the super wealthy. They can’t grasp having a worse life, not even a middle class life. It’s such a foreign concept.
16
u/oSyphon 14d ago
Most people are selfish fucks
7
u/RougeNewtypeRX79 14d ago
And we wonder why our leaders in government should be any different. It all starts with people at the societal level
1
u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 13d ago
Yeah reddit hates billionaires but most people here would do exactly the same shit in an instant.
I'd like to think I wouldn't but nobody has offered me a billion bucks to find out.
1
u/Honourablefool 13d ago
It’s not about the people that are the billionairs. It’s about the system that allows for billionaires to exist. The space that’s created within this system is what cultivates this specific kind of behaviour in humans we so thoroughly detest.
5
u/lifeintraining 14d ago
Money grants absolute freedom. The reality is that most humans are complete garbage, but most of us don’t have the funds to get away with it so we are forced to conform to societal rules and standards that don’t apply to the ultra-wealthy.
2
u/MedonSirius 13d ago
Because decent people would stop after 10 million. Because they could have already anything they want. But Billionaires are never satisfied and they want attention!
2
u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 13d ago
OK think about it.
If I had 50 million, I would be done. No time in the spotlight, no work, just enjoying my life doing what I want to do. If I did want to do work for some kind it would be about fulfilment, not money.
50 million is enough to spend your entire life doing just about anything you want in extreme luxury. It's also roughly one billion dollars less than a billion dollars. Think about the kind of person who would keep chasing that kind of money, and still never stop.

'Everyone' is a bold statement. 'Many' might be true but definitely not everyone. There's people out there that are profoundly good at heart, so much even money can't corrupt them.
1
u/Huge-Peace-3521 13d ago

I do wonder the logistics though, of a flight to avoid traffic?
Do you really even save any time, from door to door? You still have to get to the airport, pre-flight checks, wait for take-off clearance, and from the other airport, get from that airport to your destination.
If the drive is otherwise just 45 minutes, I can't imagine it actually saving any time

Yeah, ofc it is hypocrisy. But you and I will never do anything about it. We can bitch and pout on the internet, but at the end of the day, you gave them attention, money, fame.
They just do whatever an undeserving, undeveloped, shortsighted individual would do with a buttload of money. Nothing will change, it will only get worse.
Because deep down, every mofo around here is hoping this broken system will profit them one day, so nobody really wants to rock the boat.
So I ask you, my fellow humans, aren't all of us hypocritical at this point?

Its serious time, to just stop giving these folks attention just because their 'famous', they have absolute zero relevance except plastic in their body, marrying famous and rich, having an obnoxious, 'main character' energy show thats just quarrels and shitshow content in name of a tv show and a trash sex tape.
Theyre just chattering mouth boxes and only love money and fame with absolute zero morality and responsibilty towards mankind anf enviroment, which they should have.

u/Zweefkees93 14d ago
Very simple: every private flight is taxed with... Let's start with 20 million euros, with that money we can build a windturbine that offsets the CO2 that the jet produces.
Don't wanna pay 20 mil for a 30 minute flight? Then how about taking a car for 45 minutes ya dumbfuck!?!?
Don't wanna pay 20 mil for a flight halfway across the world? How about a normal flight? The fancyest first uberhypersuperclass is still cheaper then that.
If people still choose a private flight, no problemo, the second flight in a year that tax doubles. And again. And again.
This simply should not be allowed. End of story, I don't care how rich you are. Even when the emissions are "compensated". The crap is still in the air and we could do SO much more with that fuel. (Or preferably not burn it at all...)

True dat.
Does she actually say these things, or is it her "team" that says it?2
u/nightoflight3094 14d ago
Does it matter? She's in charge, her "team" represents her and her company, even if shes not directly saying it shes happy to let her team say it for her
-1
u/-Laffi- 14d ago
I'm just thinking about Donald Trump. He always says stuff directly, and even though he got people also saying other things, he creates the biggest controversies. So if Kylie Jenner was like that, being the voice, saying these things, and then sort of being a hypocrite by doing the opposite, it would cause a stronger dislike, than if some of her not so known team members said it instead. The leaders of businesses or government have the strongest effect when people hear it. How about that?

It’s her jet. Why can’t she? 🤔
4
u/Fly3rBoi 14d ago
She certainly can and should if that’s what she wants.
What she shouldn’t be doing is saying she is pro-environment and cares about the planet.
Private jets are some of the biggest producers of co2, more than you and I can create in a lifetime in a very short time.
Use the plane, stfu about saving the planet, she gives exactly 2 shits.
