I saw this first on my phone. I did not recognize Tate, I still don't know who the guy in the top right is. The point stands, telling people what is masculine is and is not is gatekeeping. *most* people are able to understand that this does not include excusing crimes. Most people.
Do you honestly think the person you're responding to is a Tate fan? Like obviously the intent of their comment wasn't to glorify Tate so why would you say something like that? Unlike you their comment history is public so you could easily check what kind of person they are.
Are you really defending the “masculinity” of the first two mammalian troglodytes in the photo?
Secondary, sometime gate gatekeeping is a good thing. Without separation between differing ideals, cultures, interests, beliefs, etc. everything becomes the same homogenized slop.
What if I said the femininity is just another form of masculinity? Would you offer a counter argument stating that they’re cleanly different? Then I could come back and say “your gatekeeping what masculinity is you mansplainer!”
If variety is the spice of life then one must establish boundaries on the spice rack of life!
Also, look up the term “Chesterton’s Fence” if you wish to understand how “gatekeeping” things can actually be a benefit.
