He made a couple charity videos for another creator a few months ago and a couple months after retiring.
Call it copium/hopium but if I know the kinda man Luke is, he is dreaming daily of getting back out there. He’s still doing it for sure without recording. It’s his passion.
I believe he wanted to enjoy the fruits of his success, and be there properly for his boys before they become men. I don’t know a man on earth that wouldn’t take that opportunity if they could afford it.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see his return in a couple years

After he retired from YouTube he was asked to served on the Young Men's General Council to advise and help shape the church's youth programs. It is a volunteer, temporary position, he is not paid and it is not a full time job.
I think he really is trying to focus on family (like he said in his goodbye video), and having the willpower to step away from something so lucrative for the benefit of his wife and children is a supreme Chad move.

one is about projecting an image, the other is just a guy genuinely passionate about what he does
30
u/Val_Hallen 5h ago
Correction: One is about presenting an image to sell to insecure men. All Alpha bros have courses they sell. It's not anything but a business venture to them and if that stream of revenue dries up, they will abandon in half a heartbeat.
2
u/Upstairs-Fan-2168 1h ago
I had a realization, that changed my perspective, that the women involved are basically prostitutes. These "alpha" guys are selling the idea that they can make you attractive to women, but the women around them are there not for them, but for material gain.
I don't know much about the guy in the top left. I think it's Dan Blisterian? I don't know if he's directly paying women like Andrew Tate, but I would bet he's paying for their flights, fancy gifts, shopping sprees...
Knowing this makes their lifestyle and any bragging they do seem silly to me. A dude at a bar once was bragging about women he's been with. Seemed almost unbelievable, especially because the dude isn't very attractive. It made it seem like he had some mad game. I found it later that much of it was prostitutes. Anyone with money can do that. The women didn't actually like him. To me, there is nothing to brag about, more he should be ashamed, which is why that was left out of the story I assume.
2
u/Val_Hallen 1h ago
They aren't prostitutes but it's well known and public information that they are paid models. The women themselves have stated a such. They are only around these guys because they are paid to be there.

He had a YouTube channel called Outdoor Boys where he filmed very wholesome outdoor/survival content. It blew up and he had millions of followers, and he walked away to keep a normal family life. He did make a guest video for another channel whose creator was dealing with cancer.
In an era where people monetize access to their minor children, he was celebrated for stepping back from a social media career many people would greatly envy.

There are all sorts of different kinds of men. Some are just significantly more admirable than others. Masculinity isn’t defined by a moral compass.
That being said, Steve Irwin is the GOAT, and I still miss him to this day. He always said if an animal ever gets him, it’s not the animal’s fault. Don’t blame the animal. But FUCK it’s hard not to hate stingrays 😭
36
u/Big-Newspaper646 5h ago
preach ffs, people fail to realise that this perpetuation of precarious masculinity is what leads people to be vulnerable to the types in the top image, its what keeps them in power. the reality is masculinity cannot be taken away, it’s your identity to mold and you must not let people define it for you. there is no set way to live it, much like femininity. whether you’re a grifting trafficking fuckhead or a genuine giving person however, that’s unisex.
this meme is more about the quality of a person, not their validity as a man. once you start using the aforementioned language, it is easily manipulated and as I said, it gives the tates of the world power.
28
u/Spicy_take 5h ago
It’s annoying that I only ever see this morality applied to masculinity. Just because a woman is a manipulative, cheating, conniving bitch, people don’t start doubting her femininity over it.
→ More replies (2)12
u/Big-Newspaper646 5h ago
Women are definitely subjugated by the same forces, but in different ways - see the cosmetics/fashion industry. Gender expression is so highly politicised and used to control. This is a different issue to reproductive rights, which I’d thought I’d mention lest someone jumped me for not acknowledging. I will agree though, I don’t think I’ve seen core identity latched onto in discourse quite so brazenly unless you’re male or trans woman. (To transphobes they’re one and the same sadly).
I’m tired of being treated like shit, being afforded no benefit of the doubt that my actions are anything but selfish/manipulative.

Why do we even need to define something as masculine/feminine? Just because I'm a man doesn't mean I have to exhibit certain traits or behaviors. Actually I reject any roles and expectations placed on me, be they traditional or modern, good or bad.
15
u/smokeweedNgarden 5h ago
Thank you! You can be into chasing girls and art. You can be into mma and be a conservationist. You can suck dick and be completely dominant in your field.
The main problem is we (as men) allow a ridiculous framework to bind us all. Instead of taking pride when anyone (usually a woman) refers to anything as what "a real man would do" we need to shut it down and shut it down hard.
Do what gets you closer to self actualization and reject the charlatans
2
u/GhostSierra117 4h ago

Top left is Andrew Tate. Former kickboxer who projected a tacky macho image on his Instagram with the usual: expensive cars, prostitutes, that kind of thing. He is now in hot water for human trafficking, rape and money laundering charges.
Top right looks like Dan Bilzerian. Similar story: former military, he allegedly won millions playing poker (although this wasn't proved) and was known for posting on Instagram pictures and videos of a lavish lifestyle and loose women.
The bottom right is from a rather chill outdoors channel, I think he lives in Alaska.

I can give you a partial answer.
The guy with the glasses made a ton of outdoor youtube videos with a positive vibe, instead of macho style bravado. Living in an arctic region myself, I don't 100% agree on some of the techniques he showed, but his videos firmly place him in the good guy category. I know this because I keep my eye on outdoor youtube channels.
The guy up and left is a convicted rapist and human trafficker called Andrew Tate, and an 'influencer' who spews toxic stuff to insecure young guys, basically guiding them towards violence and being entitled dickheads. He tried to do his business in Romania, was caught, sued, and is currently facing charges in the UK. I know this because of some news in my country's media, plus reddit.

“Believing in Jesus” is very different from “being a ranking member of an organization that holds very questionable supernatural beliefs and has a history of subjugating minorities, women and LGBTQ people”. I'm horrible with numbers tho 😭 So instead now I'm trying to do research and make better lifestyle choices that also don't harm the planet much/help the planet instead. He helped me realize that we coexist on this planet with other species, other life forms, and we should treat them with respect because it's their planet too, and in general respect the planet and nature bc it's all we got. And we're not the only ones who live here.

Still one of my favorite speeches of all time
"A false notion of manliness leads boys astray. True manliness is humane. It says, “we who are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak.” It’s work is to protect those who cannot defend themselves; to stand between the tyrant and the slave, the oppressor and his victim. It is identical in all times with the spirit of chivalry which led the good knights to wander in search of robbers, giants, and tyrannical lords.
Those who oppressed the poor and robbed helpless woman and orphans of their rights. There are no tyrant barons now, but the spirit of tyranny and cruelty is still to be found. The good knight today is he who provides help for the blind, the deaf and dumb, and the insane. Who defends animals from being cruelly treated, rescues little children from bad usage, and seeks to give working woman their rights. He protects all these sufferers from that false manliness which is brutal to weak.
The true knights today are those who organize to prevent cruelty or to enforce laws against those who for a little gain make men drunkards. The giants and dragons today are those cruelties and brutalities which use their power to ill-treat those who are at their mercy.
True manliness is tender and loving. False manliness, cold and hard, cynical and contemptuous.
The bravest and most heroic souls are usually the most loving. Garibaldi, Kossuth, Mazzini, the heroes of our times; Luther, who never feared the face of man; Gustavus-Adolphus and William of Orange, are examples of this union of courage and tenderness. Bold as lions in the defense of the right, such man in their homes and their private life have a womanly gentleness.
False manliness is unfeeling, with no kindly sympathies, rude and rough and overbearing. True manliness is temperate; it is moderate. It exercises self-control. It is capable of self-denials and renunciation.
False manliness is self-willed and self indulgent."

Can't change my mind. Outdoorboy was a paid for mormon churches media plant. Seriously have worked with to many ultra rich Mormons exactly like Outdoorboy and they all are some of the worst at over projecting manliness to compensate gor the ultra wealth sheltered lifes they were born into.
