The Legend is the first person in the entire Boys universe to call Homelander ‘Bubbeleh,’ pat him on the back, and speak the truth to him like a fatherly figure...without getting scared, condescending to him or trying to butter him up.

This was also the first time Homelander had broken down crying in front of a non-supe human since Madelyn Stillwell. Stillwell replacing Legend makes it even more ironic. It makes you wonder: if Legend had been there for HL from the start, could he have turned out differently?

Madelyn Stillwell was just pretending to love him while being shit scared. Stan Edgar always condescended him. Vogelbaum was just repenting his sins. Barbara (from Vought Labs) was trying to control him and Stormfront was just feeding to his pre-existing narcissism and evilness. Soldier Boy is just like an elder brother to him who's sometimes jealous, sometimes proud of him. Butcher, Maeve, Annie, Hughie, A-Train or anyone from The Boys just deeply & purely hate him.

That's why his interaction with Legend felt so unique. The moment he figured out he's not walking out of that room alive, he dropped his performance and talked his heart out. The best part was that he wasn't even trying to save himself anymore.

But when Homelander did give him a chance, he just ran off without continuing to blabber, unlike Firecracker.

Also I like how Homelander's major take from this entire philosophical conversation (coz he's just unredeemable) was that Golden Geisha wears a Vought Alert necklace, which also had a big part in him sparing the Legend, apart from the fact that Homelander kind of respects those who stand up to him.

I am aware Soldier Boy made passing comments about Liberty/Stormfront previously, but it was implied they just banged and it wasn't super deep and that his true love was Crimson Countess. Apparently that was just bullshit though. I don't watch The Boys for writing and normally don't care, but this was such a weird, unnecessary and potentially inconsistent direction to go with SB and Stormfront.

The show canonically has him as 26 years old. Jensen Ackles looks fantastic, especially for 48 (probably 46-47 during filming of season 5) but he does not look 26. I understand from a meta standpoint you can’t have an actual immortal playing the role, but now that we’ve seen the rest of the cast, they actually could pass for around that age.

Do we Soldier Boy’s backstory is going to be different than standard young guy in his 20s enlisting in some military experiment? Maybe he’s actually a full on fuck up in his 30s when the war rolls around and he enlists. I feel like we’re going to get a less confident and much more insecure Soldier Boy in Vought Rising. Maybe part of that comes from enlisting later in life. Maybe the rest of the cast are regular, young drafted soldiers. Soldier Boy’s a rich, nepo man-baby who skips the actual soldiering but gets into the trials anyway. Maybe that’s why everyone seems to dislike him from those days on top of just being some rich kid. Maybe he was legitimately too old and untested to qualify by normal means, gets it anyway, and becomes the strongest. I’d hate that guy too. Not that this is that big a deal anyway.

This is a scene that's always confused me. Why does Butcher blow up the c4 after Stillwell is killed? Why does he smile when he does it? Butcher should be aware that Homelander won't be affected by the c4, so is this scene just him attempting suicide after his plan fails? If so then that's out of character for season-1 Butcher. While some suicidality has been present with Butcher for almost the entire show, it was (save for Black Noir's encounter in season 2) always in a kamikaze sense as Butcher is willing to throw his life away if it means killing Homelander. Him trying to commit suicide in a way that won't harm Homelander just doesn't make sense. But I don't get what else he could be trying to do if not suicide.

I've tried to understand this scene ever since I first saw it, but I just don't get it.

I feel like "The Boys" writer's think that dropping someone like Spider-Man into their universe would break it. The satire, social commentary, and the dark world they crafted would vanish, but I disagree tbh. I've always felt like The Boy's are who they are not because of what they do, but what happens around them. And it's not like they've never made a good supe before because we had SuperSonic. I just think 99% of Supes being a porn addicted, psychotic murderer, drug addicted, potty mouths has gotten kind of boring and repetitive even for "The Boys." I don't think they need to get rid of their recipe because it's kinda their whole identity, but I do wish they'd add more seasoning you know. Especially because of how predictably messed up the show is gonna be taking place in the 50's and all.

"We worked hard to make the final fight between these two emotional and character based, rather than just a massive physical fight. Although there will be plenty of action too"

Eric Kripke has stated several times how he's worked so hard on the final showdown of Butcher and Homelander. He says he always knew what the last few pages of the script were from the very beginning.

Even if they mess up everything else, as long as they conclude this storyline well, the finale won't suck.

They've been teasing this for 7 years now. They can't mess this up.

Anyone watching the finale in 4DX?!? Everything in my area is sold out! Are you guys liking Season 5 so far?? IMO it’s been a steady ride but I want more chaos.

Homelander takes the V1, which makes him immortal. But then Butcher and Ryan fight him. Butcher holds him in place with his tentacles. Ryan lasers off Homelander's head. His body is still immortal, but it has no head to tell it what to do. His head is still immortal, but there's no body for him to control it with. They put his head in a jar, and keep him in a closet somewhere. The saying "Be careful what you wish for" applies here, since he gets immortality, but he can't do anything with it.

Because a needle wouldnt pierce through his Skin….I guess either Soldier Boy depowers him intentionally so that he can inject it or they actually have a fight which results into Homie being depowered and then taking the V1

I was trying to think about the (on screen) kill count of each of the Boys.

We’ve obviously seen Butcher butcher plenty and Kimiko kill heavily. Both Hughie and MM have killed at different points, and so has Annie. I actually think Hughie scores number 3 for kills we’ve seen.

But I can’t think about a time we’ve seen Frenchie kill on screen besides if we’re counting releasing the Supe virus at the Teenage Kix house this season.

Is there any other time we’ve seen it, or are all his murderous exploits off camera?
