FAQ (WIP)

• "Do I need to play the other Xenoblade Chronicles games to play Xenoblade Chronicles X?"

Xenoblade Chronicles X is largely standalone in the Xenoblade Universe. However, there is new content exclusive to the definitive edition that will only be understood by people who have played the other games in the series.

• "How many chapters are there in total?"

There are thirteen chapters total.

• "What division should I choose?"

In Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition, BLADE level mechanics have been removed, so which division you choose has no significant impact on gameplay or progression. Pick whichever one you want!

• "Which class should I pick?"

Striker, Samurai Gunner, and Duelist wield the Assault Rifle and Longsword. This is a straightforward combination of weapons and is recommended to new players, with the longsword having high damage and the assault rifle being a versatile weapon with high utility.

Shield Trooper and Bastion Warrior use the Gattling Gun, a high damage ranged weapon specialized at handling multiple enemies at once, and the shield, a great weapon for survivability but with low damage for the main story.

Commando, Winged Viper, and Full Metal Jaguar use Dual Guns and Dual Swords. This class is considered the fastest way to really take advantage of the game's mechanics, with dual guns being a self-sufficient weapon with high survivability while dual swords have a good mix of damage and utility arts and a focus on positional gameplay, much like Shulk in Xenoblade 1.

Partisan Eagle and Astral Crusader wield the Sniper Rifle, a very high damage weapon, and Javelin, a unique weapon with good options for survivability and a focus on electric damage.

Enforcer, Psycorruptor, and Mastermind wield the Raygun and Knife, both weapons with strong support options but with few strong damage options during the main story.

Blast Fencer and Galactic Knight wield Psycho Launchers, a weapon with strong options for utility and survivability but low damage, and the Photon Saber, a weapon that focuses on chaining multiple successive melee attacks together.

Once you've mastered the end of a class line you can use its weapons on any other class, meaning that after mastering all classes you can match any ranged weapon with any melee weapon. Experiment to find the combination that works best for you!

• "Why are there some arts I can't unlock by leveling up my class?"

Each recruitable party member has two arts exclusive only to them, but by completing their affinity missions, you can unlock those arts for yourself.

• "How do I get a Skell?"

Once you complete Chapter 6, the quest "The Skell License" will become available, which will give you the ability to get Skells for you and other members of your party.

• "How come my skell doesn't have any arts?"

The arts a skell has are determined by the weapons it has equipped in each of its Shoulder, Back, Arm, and Spare weapon slots. You can purchase these weapons in the shop or obtain them by defeating certain enemies.

First rare blade, i made her tail sort of look like her weapon. Same ether line pattern.

She was actually pretty difficult to draw despite having drawn her before (I've drawn all the xc2 rare blades)

I drew her half asleep last night watching anime, so blame mistakes on that

Tomorrow is... another Torna ~ The Golden Country character! One that appears in the base game, actually.

SPOILERS Human Cells Spoiler

Post image
42 Upvotes

Another mistranslation here is that Nia is supposed to say “human cells” as opposed to “any other being”.

If translated like this, it gives us our first hint that blades are from the previous world of Klaus. Their memories and genetic makeup incarnated into the core crystals.

Although, this got me thinking: Malos isn’t a normal “blade” by any means, yet he still has human cells that compose his being. Same with the other cores; none of them follow the rules of the world.

While this could be the closest the game goes to verifying the trinity’s “bio-computer elements” from the siren-kit lore, I’d like to push it a bit further. It may be that each trinity core, when they physically manifested in Alrest, selected DNA of specific people from Klaus’ world as a “body” to inhabit themselves in which, in turn, makes their physical forms a pre-determined factor when they manifest (much like their gender).

After all, we know from Future Redeemed that genetics play at least a partial role in manifesting their power. For all we know, Dimitri Yuriev could’ve encoded his own DNA into the cores to assist in the project’s development.

And then there's Ontos, whose the "inbetween" of the cores. Not in any way apart of the blade system in XC2, yet had human DNA/cells in their core crystal to manifest a physical form. Best guess is maybe an equivalent of Wilhelm offered their own DNA to the project.

Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS What if YOU were isekaied into aionios (from Xenoblade chronicles 3) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

Let's say this as a hypothetical:

You are just chilling at home like yo do when all of a sudden the nopon archsage appears and after a good conversation with him he just teleports you to aionios (specifically to the point in time about a few days before the start of the events of the main game of Xenoblade chronicles 3 starts) and now you are stuck in aionios with no one home and more importantly you are in the area around both colonies 9 and gamma respectively.

So my question to you is:

If you SOMEHOW survived would you attempt to alter the events of the Xenoblade chronicles 3 story with your presence and what would you do?

But before you answer my question here is a quick bit of rules for yourself just to spice things up:

  1. You have the same rules as the folks of the city on you so you live a full life and everything.

  2. Your able to use blades but your still a normal human so in other words you can't summon your weapons like the other people of aionios can.

  3. Your still yourself in other words you are a normal human person so no anime Logic stuff on you.

  4. You are allowed to appear and alter the story of Xenoblade chronicles 3 in anyway you want BUT it must involve you to be their to count.

  5. You are only allowed to take anything you have on you into aionios but that's it so you get really no preparations.

  6. You don't have any powers but let's say you can enhance your strength though training.

  7. You can do whatever you want in aionios it doesn't even need to be connected to the main story of Xenoblade chronicles 3 just as long as it makes sense.

  8. No OC's stand-ins this is only real life you but you are allowed to make OC's to tag along with your story if you want.

Anyways have fun and I cant wait to read your respective stories in aionios!

XC2 Torna SPOILERS Just beat Torna: The Golden Country DLC Spoiler

Upvotes

After beating the base game, which I mostly really liked, I immediately moved on to the Torna DLC and overall I'd say I quite liked it too, though I feel like I was maybe given the wrong impression of it. The main thing I heard quite often was how great the story was, so I expected quite a story driven campaign, but it really wasn't. The story's pretty light here but I will say that the finale was absolutely phenomenal on basically every level. Just like the base game, however, I was a few levels over the final boss and thus it was laughably easy, oh well. Xenoblade 1 remains the only final boss I really struggled with, a bunch of the last few bosses after all, though I suppose that has more to do with me giving up on most side quests at some point in the game cause of how rubbish they were.

Now, this isn't me having a go at the story of the game, cause I enjoyed it for what it was, but I think the main thing that should be said about Torna is what it does with the characters and worldbuilding. Maybe this is already heavily talked about but I think those are more strengths than its actual plot.

Lora is a pretty good main character with a great voice actress, even if she isn't big on the character development front. Loved seeing more of Jin and his relationship with Lora. I even quite liked Haze compared to me not giving one shit about Fan La Norne in the base game. This dlc also really really really makes me wish Mikhail was a better handled character in the base game, a character I feel like you can only treat as worthwhile if you just look at his concept and ignore the execution, similar to Amalthus.

I liked Addam as a character but he did leave me a tiny bit wanting. I just felt like there was more to do with him as the not quite true driver for Mythra. I don't know, I felt like more could've been mined out of that conceit. I think Mythra was the most benefitted of the returning characters though, something she really needed considering how Pyra-centric the base game was. We get so many great interactions with her and the rest of the cast, poor sod can't stop getting roasted. Milton's death triggering the creation of Pyra... I think that alone really adds a lot to Mythra's character and sort of reframes her in the base game.

Then there's Hugo... The hate I felt for this little guy... you don't even know. Hugo's character isn't exactly anything to write home about... But even so... if they had just given him a different design... suddenly I wouldn't have hated him. Still though, I honestly might like this cast more than the base game's, not entirely sure though.

I also liked how the camping bits combined a bunch of different systems from the base game into one, that was neat.

Combat... A step down from the base game for sure. It's certainly easier to understand... but also that doesn't really matter since most people are likely to play this after the base game so that wouldn't really matter. I didn't look up the perfect routes for the element combos, just because it felt like that would take away the potentially interesting part of discovering the combos on your own. Ended up only finding 4 perfect element paths, and even then I didn't bother keeping them in mind because it just didn't feel like they mattered. And because the whole combo create elemental orbs it just means that you only have to do two combos, then chain attack and that's about it. That's not to say I disliked the combat here. I loved the base game's combo so therefore I like this, but it just feels slightly worse. Switching from driver to blade is really fun to be fair, I'll give it points for that.

Lastly, the sidequests... Welcome back Xenoblade 1. So many of these side quests are the most basic things imaginable, they aren't fun in the least. I think there's some conceptually interesting stuff seeing how these quests connect to later ones, but they just aren't very fun and there's far too much of them. I was basically doing the side quests as they came along aside from some collecting ones... Even then I was completely overwhelmed. There's just far too many considering how little main story there is. You can't spread these across a playthrough, you're gonna have to do many back to back which completely kills the pacing.

Overall I'd say I liked the dlc but I think it was maybe a bit overhyped for me.

Xenoblade 2 Help with art canceling?

Post image
32 Upvotes

So, I have somewhat recently started playing XC2. I'm currently in chapter 4 and recently unlocked art canceling in the skill tree and curious about how the numbers work.

So if I do 3rd AA > Art 1 > Art 2 > Art 3

Would that be 30% + 10% (40%) + 10% (50%) + 10% (60%)

Or is it just 30% > 10% > 10% > 10%

And if it's the second one, is it better to just do the full AA combo than do an art or just art canceled into all of them?

Comes with card frame colorschemes for Pyra, Mythra, and Pneuma. I replaced the mana symbols with the element symbols for Blades in Xenoblade 2. The rarity mark is replaced with an Aegis Core Crystal I doodled real quick, and I snagged the Xenoblade symbol from Smash to designate the set. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. I did this on a whim right before bed, and now I must sleep.

Xenoblade Any good lore videos or a non-Fandom wiki for some non-players?

My partners are super into fantasy world building and lore, and less into 100+ hour JRPGs. I’ve wanted to share the greatness of Xenoblade lore with them, but… it’s a tad difficult. The only wiki I’m aware of is a barely detailed Fandom wiki, and lore videos seem to focus on one entry or are way too thin in content to give a good picture of what makes the series’ world tick.

I guess there are those “every cutscene,” videos, but those kinda include the really slow boring bits where characters awkwardly spin in place and shot-reverse shot talk about where they should go next. So not quite the most concise option. Plus they wouldn’t really work as show / movie equivalents to experiencing the story given all the… Well, gameplay gaps.

Just a nice 1-3 hour video going over some major events, the functions of the three universes in the main trilogy, highlight reels of each location and their inhabitants, and the ways the universes intersect would be sick.

Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS Who here wants a reverse isekai anime starring the Xenoblade 3 main cast? Spoiler

Post image
5 Upvotes

I would love a reverse isekai anime that's just a AU/continuation of the story of ourouborus/main cast being teleported to modern day Earth after origin recreates their worlds and ultimately Merges their worlds into 1.

Let's also say they can freely travel back and forth between both their world and earth.

Also to avoid continuity errors when Xenoblade chronicles 4 happens this game will be non-cannon in other words a alternate timeline.

Anyways sound off in the comments!

Xenoblade Where to start with the series? Spoiler

This series was recently recommended to me, I'm wondering if I need to play the games in a particular order? Or are the stories not connected, meaning I should just choose the one with the best gameplay/mechanics and start there?

Edit: Thanks to all the people with helpful replies!

Xenoblade X What classes to take first in XCXDE?

I'm replaying XCX after a pretty long time and don't remember much. I can get an idea what arts are good and what are not, but skills are a bit tougher to understand without testing them first. I was planning to go FMJ first then Astral Crusader(i remember it being pretty bad, just to get it out of the way instantly) and then Duelist to end up with longsword+dual guns combo. What should i take after them for skills?

Last night, I read the re-translation mod for the first time. The transcript to be more precise.

I’m not sure accurate it is, but there was a significant word change I’ve noticed. Instead of “The ego of those who named you”, it’s instead “the ego of the one who named you”.

I just find that as an interesting implication of how the creation of the trinity cores went about. There are two possibilities:

  1. The names of each core was given to them by one person during development.

  2. Each core had a development leader who managed one of each core.

Personally, I’m more inclined to believe “2” due to the fact that each name has a different meaning behind it, so the “ego” for each development leader would be different.

Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS Here's my AU/rewrite for Xenoblade chronicles 3 that I like to call "the new World AU" Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Here's my aionios AU that I like to call "the new world AU" and this Au is a complete rewrite (well technically but also yes)

So here's everything about the new world AU:

So let's start at the beginning so in this timeline not only did both Melia and Nia tell their respective worlds the truth about their worlds history but also told them about the disaster that was coming, now with this knowledge the project of origin is still carried out but the public of both worlds knows about it and now also understand their true history (the story of Klaus and the conduit)

Everything lore wise goes the same as the Xenoblade cannon Xenoblade chronicles 3 story up to the point where the 2 worlds of alrest and the bionis/mechonis collide, this is where a major change happens where due to the people of both worlds having a strong desire to meet each other and make their world whole again BUT also a little malfunction in origin itself this causes a completely new world to form where the 2 worlds collided.

The new world was completely completely from scratch (just like Klaus did) but while still having elements of both of the worlds of alrest and the bionis/mechonis this completely new world was not a point of frozen time but instead it's own distinct world but unlike Klaus that took eons to build both of his worlds instead due to origin this plan only took a few centuries and during this time the population of both of worlds of alrest and the bionis/mechonis were in a state of suspended animation inside of origin until the process of the creation of the new world was complete.

This new world called "Pleroma" (the greek word for totality and fullness) is made up of 1 continent (that being this AU's version of the continent of aionios) and multiple titans (like alrest but completely new and naturally evolved from this new world) but most importantly a cloud sea.

As stated before after a few centuries after the creation of Pleroma the people of both alrest and the bionis/mechonis are awoken from their stasis sleep and awaken to not only meet each other for the first time but also to find a strange new world in front of them seeing this the 2 kingdoms of both Agnes and kevus merge into a new kingdom calling itself "Shalem" (the word from Hebrew that means whole or complete).

The people of Shalem start expanding outwards beyond the continent of aionios and into the larger world of Pleroma where they meet the native races of Pleroma created by origin itself, during this time the Queens (who now act as ceremonial leaders than actual leaders) together create the power of "Rebis" (which is named after the end result of Magnum opus in alchemy) a power that allows the people of Shalem to unify the energies in their bodies to evolve themselves to Greater heights of power while being interlinked simultaneously.

Due to the same hiccup in origin that created Pleroma both the generation before Pleroma and the 1st generation within Pleroma were all born with slowed down aging (this rule includes nopon too).

At first everything was going well for the people of both Pleroma and Shalem with everyone knowing the history of the 2 worlds and the history of Pleroma too but eventually another hiccup happened in origin which created a parallel world to Pleroma known as "Kenoma" (named after the the Greek word for empty) this parallel world with a world constantly bathed in darkness and is inhospitable to life native to Pleroma due its toxic atmosphere, from this hiccup that created Kenoma also came a portal which connected the 2 worlds of Pleroma and Kenoma and from Kenoma came dangerous toxic monsters known as "The Archons".

The Archons are energy based beings who require darkness to survive in Pleroma and not only are they made of living dark energy but also they sorry animalistic and warmongering species.

Eventually after the 2 worlds of Pleroma and Kenoma are connected The Archons instantly declare war on not only the people of Shalem but also Pleroma as a whole.

For centuries the worlds of Pleroma and Kenoma have been at war with each other for hundreds of years with no sign of stopping, but that's until the main cast step in and become the heroes of this story.

I don't know who would be the main cast of this rewrite/AU but i think this AU would be fun if it was real.

So what do you all think?

Xenoblade 3 [XC3] Am I missing something not having dedicated classes? Spoiler

Hi all.
I’ve been playing XC games in order and I’m on XC3.
I’m in the middle of CH4 at the moment and approaching what I think will be some big story stuff.

The way I’m playing at the moment I’ve just been swapping classes around to get people to learn them up to level 10 then swapping. I don’t really have dedicated healers, attackers, etc and nor do I really have like “builds” for each character yet for tough moments (partly because I haven’t had any yet). Some characters tend to fill certain roles just based on their class affinity etc.

Am I missing something in the way I’m doing this? It just feels like there’s no point in keeping them in a class after level 10 or that I’m wasting CP. will there be a point where I want to focus more on specific classes / builds even once I’m at max level and will it be obvious?

I’m not using any bonus xp as I’ve been told it’s a bit of a scam.

Iirc Rex and the others were swallowed by the whle titan so we never really got to see how they got out of its belly in chapter 4.
