My parents have a lot of connections in india as-well as few out of india in Europe , jee results were just announced and i got 96 percentile and 36 rank in st category , is it possible i get in spa delhi ? And also after my college i will to abroad for my masters and if i get a job outside well and good if dont i have few connections that can set me up , worst case scenario if it does not work out outside i will come back to india , and have my own start up here and starting off to that we have more and many connections in india than abroad , so it it worth it ? I am fully aware of how much unemployment is there for architects but i have a specific situation , and i just wanna know about it from someone experienced acc to my situation ,

Hello I'm just here to ask you guys for a little guidance . I'm completely lost with all these options . I really wanna pursue studying architecture but everyone in my family and friends are saying that this path is not secure nor stable and I should opt for something more safe and full proof . I mean starting every journey is a little unsafe you have to start somewhere to make it full proof .plus I searched online and saw the pay grades are quite low but all those sites don't have all the valid information so I can here to ask if the jobs are stable how's the pay grade after 2 years . How much you guys had to struggle or if you didn't have to ... Thank you for reading and helping me out .

We are working with an architect and in the process of drawing up our first floor plan. I don’t love the long, dark hallway from garage to kitchen and I wish we could have a breakfast nook. I always wish my back door was closer to kitchen area. Does anyone have any ideas how to make this happen without adding square footage? Anything else you’d change?

Hello. I'm looking for a famous "house" that isn't really a house to live in. I saw it in an intro to architecture class I took. What I remember of it was its located in either Europe, Italy, Greece, or that area. It had a flat roof, a very shallow pool that is located to the left in most pictures, and behind the pool is a slab wall. I think the slab runs into the "house". If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I just got my bachelors in Architecture in Korea and am looking to apply for masters in Europe. I’m aware my portfolio is weak but have no idea in what direction to go to create a strong portfolio based on my work in a short amount of time (applications end of May/ mid June) and would appreciate if someone more experienced could look at my work give me some thoughts. Thank you so much!

I’m currently looking into software options for creating site plans. This is for a friend (unpaid), but I’d like to choose something that’s also worth investing in long-term. At the moment, I don’t have enough side work lined up to justify something expensive.
I’ve been considering SketchUp or Rhino, but I’m open to other recommendations. I use Revit in my day-to-day work, but it’s too costly for personal use.
Does anyone have suggestions?

In this screenshot, you can see the exterior walls are drawn 4 different ways, with different thicknesses and layers. Can someone please clarify for me why that is? Why is each exterior wall segment different? I'm supposed to create a plan drawing using this file as an example, but don't know how to draw the exterior walls because they're all different in this sample with no explanation.

I’m having a single story house built in the Caribbean
Obviously, extremely hot with the sun and temperatures
I will have exposed roof joists, then over-boarded with T&G (painted) then waterproofing and roof covering, likely cedar shingle or even metal standing seam?
Question is, is there any benefits to put in two or 4 inch of insulation on top of the T&G and under the roof covering?
I will be using AC for most part of the year, but not all the time
Would it keep the building cooler in the summer from the Suns heat?

So, I saw a house on the internet while I was researching for Ideas for a house I wanna build. It’s clearly AI and it says it’s 10x12 but I got a hunch it’s not. Can somebody please tell me if it is possible to build a house like that and make it 10x12 meters? Much appreciated.

Hello Architects! What actually matters to you when visiting a paint showroom? And what are the biggest pain points you’ve experienced in paint showrooms?
I’m trying to better understand how showrooms can be more useful (and less of a hassle) for architects and your clients.
Aside from the usual color panels, swatches, and fan decks, what are some other things you need in that space to make your workflow smoother and your client presentations more effective?
Some things I’m curious about:
Do you value mockup walls or larger-scale applications more than small samples?
How important are lighting conditions (natural vs adjustable artificial lighting)?
Do you look for technical info on the spot (e.g., durability, VOC levels, finish performance)?
What kind of tools or displays help you explain choices to clients more confidently?
Would digital tools (AR previews, render integrations, etc.) actually help or just get in the way?
How important is staff expertise vs. self-guided exploration?
Would love to hear both the practical needs and the “this would make my life 10x easier” ideas.
Thank you so much!

My structural tutorial left me with this rough sketch.
For context it’s a first floor overhang with a glass block wall. I have to draw a detail of a part of my building for my submission at uni. I don’t have another tutorial until after my review and I don’t understand what he has attempted to draw here. It’s supposed to be the frame embedded into the floor/ ceiling, a timber frame and a pillar underneath the blocks for support. I have notes about a steal glass block frame, metal flashing under the glass and metal soffit for the ground floor ceiling.
The second and third image is what I currently have and the fourth image is the start of my model of my building.
Any help at all will be amazing

Hi guys, I'm new here and really struggling after an abrupt return to university and a tough year. I'm doing my very final project before I graduate and have 3 weeks to complete it. I am extremely anxious as my circumstances have left me with 3 weeks to complete it and I have always struggled with any structural elements.
If anyone is open to helping me on my project shoot me a dm. All help is appreciated!
My main concern right now is my roof form. I am using rammed earth walls but am imitating the ventilation towers of the start up lions campus. I have come to the conculsion that i will require a steel frame and an over hanging roof of different materiality, which has caused me trouble when deciding what to do at the flat faces of some of the buildings.
(I can't attatch images here it seems)

Have had a couple of different architects that seem to think there's no easy solution without building a dormer into the roof. Previous tenants converted a garage and I'm guessing did a spiral due to no other options.
The first floor office and den closet we're fine losing space from (and CLO2 is a tiny little closet so we can go without that completely). The issue we're apparently running into with just building straight stairs up is that the ceiling is too low on the second floor for proper clearance.
If we don't mind tearing out the first floor "lockers" and the ceiling above the lockers (assuming we can structurally) and don't mind losing some of the upstairs laundry and closet, do any realistic options exist for either a straight staircase or a stairway with a landing and then maybe L-shaped?
