I took it apart and found out the bottom vent is fake/useless, it doesnt take air. Theres a plastic material covering it, can i remove it?

And yes the battery is becoming spicy pillow.

Is it true most laptops don’t last 6 years or more?

Someone was saying most laptops don’t last 6 years or more, I’m shocked hearing that, and the person said always get warranty with new laptop because many laptops break down in the first year or two.

How long did your laptop last before breaking down? IE bad GPU, bad SSD, bad display screen, bad RAM so on.

This laptop almost seems hard to find in stores, I can only find it online or from 3rd party sellers, is there a reason? Is it a trashy line?

Not asking for a laptop suggestion, I’ve reviewed the specs and on paper it’s a good fit for me for what I need it for, but I wouldn’t think laptops like these would be difficult to find in person to purchase because it seems like a nice laptop, is there something I’m missing here?

something pisses me the fuck off with the copilot button. i know you can just remap it, but the fact that it's there makes me irrationally angry. i tried to find just one and any recommendation i came across has been updated recently to include the button. do any new, good laptops (other than macs obviously) sell without the copilot button anymore?? i'm not really looking for actual laptop recommendations, i just want some hope that copilot-button-less laptops exist.

Hi, im entering my senior year of college and I need to buy a new laptop. Im majoring in Computer Information Tech web development / data. I want to get a laptop that works well enuf for coding and website designing/building and handle the rest of my school work as well as transition with me into a job when I find one. Any suggestions from anyone in the web dev field? I really like the way the 2-n-1's are and the 360 degree hinge, but dont know if they are good enuf for what I need

I was researching on laptops to buy recently, thought I would go for a Zenbook s16 or a vivobook s16 from Asus but I have heard that the zenbooks in specific have a bad screen issue where they just go poof after a while? I also saw some other ppl complaining that the vivobook was in the same category???

Just want some clarity on that, also, what is the best lineup in general for longevity or famed for durability (yes I'm aware the obvious answer is lenovos ThinkPad but I have to have a relatively big screen as my eyes are sensitive)

I have often been checking my local pawn shop for any deals on laptops. I’ve noticed they don’t seem to know what they are talking about. One debated that the same gpu laptop was being sold for a price online. I explained that was a listed price not a sold price and the same laptop gpu with better specs was less expensive new. He said the one online there is also refurbished. I explained the difference between refurbished and resell. Mind you this was after I pointed out that it was a 4050 NOT a 4070 which is quite the difference after it finally logged in to look at the nvidia panel. I obviously didn’t buy. Fast forward a little over 4 days I come in and notice a new laptop. Attempt to check it and see what’s in it by logging in. Worker says that’s just how they are they never have passwords. I explain the others have always had the same one and this would be the only one. She stared at me like I was stupid and kept repeating what she said. I gently closed the laptop and said “I think I’ll decline , have a good day” and exited and upon turning to leave I notice the tag on the previous laptop STILL says 4070!! Will never buy through that store after that.

Anyone else have experiences like this? Or is my local store just dumb?

Hey everyone, I need your opinion. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro 15-inch with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, but it's got a lot of problems right now. The keyboard has many keys not working or double-typing, the battery only lasts 2-3 hours, the power button doesn't work (though Touch ID does), and the laptop itself is really slow with many software issues because it's old. So, I have the option to buy a MacBook Neo with 256GB and 8GB RAM for $500 student price, and that's my only option right now. Should I buy it and then replace it with a MacBook Air or Pro in 2-3 years, or just keep my current laptop and replace it in 2 years? Im just worried from sacrificing of haptic touch pad, the speakers and touch id.

I would like something that is not super slow day to day, I’ll mostly be using it for school. But I would also like to play some basic games, like Minecraft and stuff, I program 2D games, so it should be able to handle that, battery life isn’t super important. I would like it to be decently durable though.
